I just wondered if there was any interest in a Kent meet sometime in the New Year? There are a few owners on the forum based in the Garden of England, and we might be able to attract a few punters from London, Sussex, Surrey, Essex, etc. Sometime in March could be good....

Let's see what response there is - my initial thought would be the Shipwright's in Faversham. Fantastic backdrop for photos, although not great for drag-racing. Any other ideas would be gratefully received.

HAPPY XMAS xmas

Tim

Are you going to Brooklands on new years morning?

Jon,
what's the deal at Brooklands? Sounds good although New Year's Eve is also my birthday...

Tim

Just checked the Brooklands website; not much detail, but looks like good fun. Up for it wink

Sw London here so I'm up for a meet somewhere in Kent

March should be good as all snow would have gone.. Hopefully! though a meet sooner in snow could be fun as well

What about headcorn aerodrome as a possible venue.. Havent been there for a while - nice location plus a few good local pubs close by.

Tim,

It's the Brooklands museum new year gathering. I go most years (sometimes in the Porsche). This will be my first year in the coupe' but it's usually a good morning and a great way to start the new year.

I'm also planning to go to the Ace on the 27th as it's Porsche night....so that'll be in the 944.....it'll give the 911 owners something to sneer at!

Once the sun starts shining, the orchards are full of blossom, the hedgerows are green (and everyone has paid off their Christmas debts and repaired their Coupes from hose damage and corrosion) I'm sure we'll get a few machines together for a hoon and a good lunch! Watch this space...

May go to Brooklands on the 1st.

16VT and X1/9 1500

We must all do our part for the planet.
I unplugged a row of electric cars that nobody was using.

It looks like we may have mini-meet then Peter..if Tim can make it and you can make it, I'll bring the Turbot rather than the Porsche

I'm guessing it will be around 9:30 - 10 o'clock start then Jon.

The coupe has just been washed ready for it.

Just hope I can get my sons out of bed in the morning! I'll be washing the Scozia this afternoon - the Moon will have to stay at home as the tax runs out tonight and can't renew it until I get my insurance cert from Neil Willies...

I have just changed the driver's side window lift so that if it is cold there is a good chance the window will close again after the entry booth.

Sorry not to have bumped into you guys - set off in time but the alarm in the Scottie would not switch off. Had to go back home and swap cars, so we did not arrive until about 11.30. Nice to see the Coupes there!

We also spent an hour in Mercedes World; some amazing cars in there. It was fun watching some punters trying to keep an E-class AMG estate on the skid pan.

No worries Tim,

Peter managed to blag his way into the main enclosure, making it easy for me to follow...shame we missed you but a good day had by all by the sounds of things...

I'll post a few pictures later.

Favourite cars;

Adam, 14 1950s Mercedes 300SL (although he also wants an E-type; there were quite a few there today)

Ben, 16 The Unimog (didn't know they were made by Mercedes), followed by ANY Mustang.

Me, ?? The lime green Lambo in the car park, although the green E-Type ran it close!

Favourite machine? The SE5A in the aircraft museum. The Vimy ran it close, and how Alcock and Brown ever flew that aircraft over the Atlantic is a (wonderful) mystery.

Cracking (although expensive) day out!

For Jack (16) Concorde and any Mustang or the Ram pick up

For me (over 16) yes the Vimy does it for me...or the Ambassador....and car..the Morris Minor with the V8 conversion...fiendishly 'ratty' in it's aged paint and cleverly extended front end to fit the larger engine

Agree on the expense...16 year olds cost a lot to run! shocked

Stuart, welcome aboard. The more the merrier - we'll sort out a venue and date nearer the time. I'm leaning towards the Smarden Bell, which is a great country pub, does good grub and has a big car park (TN27 8PW). What little beauty do you have?

If you haven't done so already join the club - it will be the best £15 you'll spend this year, and will provide all the help you need to keep your car on the road and looking stunning!

Good luck, Tim

Thanks Tim, I've already signed up. The Smarden Bell is only about 100 miles from me so a nice little drive down. I've got a '99 Speed Red 20VT, only had it since November but its proving to be quite addictive.

Best Wishes
