Just to update my current power figures after FC Performance map.

Flea mapped it to 1.6bar in the midrange and 1.4 at the redline (7600rpm}.

Made 465@1.3bar and 360trq, with fluff'd Apexi settings.
Run was done in 3rd gear.
I will expand on the session later with graph of course.

Did you break the big 500 barrier on higher boost setting?

Also did Flea not run it on the dyno he uses in Bristol?

Think Barbz probably wanted to use an independant rolling road.

lol

that's seriously impressive, 465bhp on an allegedly stingy dyno at just 1.3bar, looking foward to seeing the graphs

congrats

Yes mate,

The Infamous Surrey RR.

Struggled to hold full boost on the day, just my luck eh. I should of run it in 4th, target boost would have been a lot more stable.

Flea's dyno not running yet.

500hp was my target at 1.4bar with 400trq at current stage 1 level.

I've sent the graph's to beggar's to post up.

Thanks guys
Barbz

Barbz, why not go to a better dyno?

like red dot??

i bet that is at least 500bhp on a better dyno!!

well...may as well say it... When can you take for a white knuckle ride in that monster?? laugh

ahem - just because it reads higher does not mean that it is better.... the car would not feel any different on the road.

All the reports I know of from Surrey RR say that it is pretty accurate, just seems to read lower than some... smile

Did you run the 1.6 to test if it was actually slower as we thought?
Unusual how the lower boost setting to me seemed to pull stronger throughout the rev range.

Could only manage to hold 1.3bar in the end, seems that Apexi dont like dyno's.

Suba's right, you just need a reference point when you start modding, rr figure's are one thing but actual on the road power is the real test.

Marco- Sure, we should link up sometime when i'm in your nick of the woods, London roads are awful.

Just discovered that the turbo's blowing past the gasket and a boost leak becoming more audiable.

Never bl@@dy ending!

is the car holding the same boost on the road? It's interesting how it can differ...

My Rx7 was mapped to 1.1 bar peak, and 1 bar sustained on the rollers, and peaks at 0.9 bar on the road - with the boost coming in earlier on the road as well. very easy to tweak the map on the road though with the Apexi P/fc controller to compensate. smile

Ok here we go...

On the road I set the boost to peak at 1.6bar before dropping to 1.4bar at the redline. Unfortunately as is the way with many dynos they don't load the engine enough to reach the same pressure level, so the controller has to be modified accordingly. If Barbz had more time then he could have played with the settings, but it was a busy dyno day so cars were on and off quickly.

As for figures, 465bhp is very impressive and it certainly feels it on the road! I am going to extend the limiter as the power is still not dropping off so no reason not to use it. Sheikhs (Barbz's brother ex-coupe owner) had his 350z turbo conversion on after Barbz, and that made 420bhp, although this was 30bhp less than when he had it tuned on another dyno.

I will hopefully be getting it on my dyno over the next week or so, that way it will be a fair comparison to all the other Coupes, and of course I will make sure the correct boost level is achieved!

Next test is the drag strip I am sure!

As mentioned above the dyno i use typically reaches almost a mirror image of the boost on the road, but unusually holds boost longer.
As for the gaskets, the evo lads use the HKS ones and although there £100 a pop they never fail.
Im on my 4th ex gasket in 2000 miles now.
Starts tapping after a track day or a live map.
As for the turbo to manifold gasket i never use them as they never seal, however it takes time on the Cnc machine to ensure a perfect match with the manifold. Most distort under welding so there never true out of the box.

Just updating my figures after sorting 2 major boost leaks, which turned out to be the Forge atmos DV and fuel tank vent valve frown.

The graphs have red (old run) and blue (new run) traces which show power and torque gains all the way to 6250rpm. The biggest gains are lower down with a maximum 100bhp & 120ft lbs jump at 4250rpm crazy, all at a modest 1.3bar. Couldn't run anymore boost as AFR was leaning off. Looks like another trip to flea for some tweaking, again smile.

The low to mid end torque is just AWESOME, thats how powerful engine should be, unrelenting all the way to redline.

Stage 1 is complete, Badboy blower waiting to be fitted! wink

Going to be an interesting year!!!!!! smile

Just to point out that the FC map caters for 1.6bar, so in theory it could be a couple of ponies shy of 500hp and possibly over 500hp on FC dyno, if Apexi allows.

Clutch is not holding very well at this level also.

Just a quick update from a personal experience on driving barbz's 'green hornet' beast; while mine is in for an update. smile

It is the most brutal car I have personally driven. My cousins are well off to be polite, so I have driven Maserati's, all manner of Porsches and a fair few fast boy racers (inc. Nissan GTI-R, Elise etc). However the 'green hornet beast' (my term for it) accelerates like a phenom and goes like a rollercoaster. silly

Just when you think you have a fast coop, try this and your heart resides in your throat, and the adrenaline flows like a river. thumb

and yes I feel like a pedestrian in my coop now..so my coop demands MORE POWER!!

I have been in Barbz's monster too and despite having 3 boost leaks that were undetected on mapping it scared the life out of me.
As did the driving laugh
No turbo lag at all.
The engineering on that is second to non.
