A small section of photos and my graphs from the Rolling Road session that DidCoop organised on Sunday 2nd May.

Location: Hayes Engineering, Erith/Kent. DynaTech rollers, probably the most advanced one out there.

I forgot how many coops we had there, around 6? Along with an Ford Puma, Fiat Van(!), Focus RS, Toyota Twin Turbo Supra, Subaru Impreza.

Nice mix of coops there, a couple of modded 16vt's and 20vt's, 1 standard LE and 1 standard Plus.

First up on the rollers was my standard 20vt Plus (Engine on 47k), with a Powerflow cat-back exhaust system. No other modifications, mapping, dump valves etc .. It was hammering down with rain by the time as I was nearly there , so the car was brought into the building to dry ...

I drove 100 miles in that morning, so the car was nice and warmed up and at 6:45am in the morning with nothing on the roads and being dry on the A3 I got to loosen up the turbo smile

Coop being positioned onto the rollers ...

I was hoping the coop would make standard power and it didn't disappoint, it maxxed out at 221.8bhp with a peak of nearly 280lb/ft of torque at 1.2 bar overboost. Bob (the owner) noted that the car was running very rich at the top end that robbed it making more power, estimating another 10bhp or so might have been gained with spot-on fuelling.

My concern was that the car could run lean at the top end in standard guise, another coupe paranoia??!, I guess running rich is the lesser of the two evils and i'm now debating whether I should get the fuelling sorted by mapping (although not modifying the car and upping boost levels as I am keeping this car standard, uprated parts and getting it running as best as I can).

Nice LE in standard guise, I think this one pushed out about 215bhp and was running a touch lean at the top end. Maybe the owner can chip in on this?

Next up, Modded 16vt's running Evo chips and GTECs, pushing between 230-246bhp off the top of my head.

20vt's, can't remember the specs of these ones but I think R1Dan's was pushing 306bhp, I'm sure he'll correct me on this.

and one that didn't run, squeaky tensioner belt, better to be safe than sorry...

DidCoops 16vt, sporting the new spray job and nice boost gauge mounted into the dash.

Producing a maximum of 244.3 bhp .. click to enlarge

you'd have thought he didn't make standard power judging by this photo but I missed him jumping in the air like a loon click to enlarge

Other cars ...

Ford Puma, after 5 runs pushed 126bhp, click to enlarge

Ford Focus RS, mapped (although I think was running too rich) producing around 280bhp click to enlarge

Subaru, don't know much about this one, I think it had a different engine in it!, run about 270-280 bhp I think

And the most powerful one of the session, the twin turbo Toyota Supra, pushing just over 400 bhp.

Awesome day, and having never done a rolling road session I learnt a lot just listening to Bob explaining the DynoTech graphs.

My car was running a Dink chip and made 244.3bhp and 285 ft lb with no clutch slip this time due to being properly warmed up smile

Good times! Really enjoyed it, great write-up Duncan!

That's one good write up it was like reading a magazine RR day with the pictures.

What focus RS was it? Mark one or mark two? as I can't see the pic of that one for some reason.

Great write up enjoyed that.

Pics show a Mark1 RS. smile

Anyway Duncan, the most important thing is that you enjoyed the experience and now know real world statistics on your coop. You can pass the graphs to a tuner, so it can be mapped for the purpose intended.

I am hoping to organise another stint to SurreyRR in the coming weeks, if anyone is interested yes

Lastly, Moonies are the best, especially 'Moonie Plus' bow

Yes Nazo, totally agree.

As for Surrey RR, depending on what time and day, I might pop down again.

Now in the 400+ bhp club!

Guys, I did that RR last year!

I did a new one recently organised by Piston Heads , I put the graph up in my sales post. I did it because I put a K&N air filter panel and a new replacement EBV. This time it made 231.1bhp

Some of the values (like the boost pressure) I'm not convinced are right though. I'd like to go back to Hayes engineering where i did the first RR but probably won't do now (it's a 200 mile round trip and my car is for sale anyway).
