My son has decided he can go so no tickets here I'm afraid!

I'll be at Smithbrook Kilns before 8:00 am.

As I see it we have a full house for Speed Freaks and a less than full house for the Picnickers.

Tim42 and Pegasus can't go, Serg1 wants to go, Mark3009 & ReetLadthee have got tickets, SteveL has my mirror tag but no ticket yet and radio silence from the rest. Assuming Serg1 can get tickets AND a mirror tag that makes four cars. Hardly a Coupe circle, more a great deal of space in our allotted 20 x 20m. Presumably even Speed Freaks can bring their picnics and chairs, flags and tent etc. over to the area?

Looks like rain too! B*gg*r!

We are only going to be there as a group on Saturday, so there will be no coupe area on Sunday.

That means you just turn up and pay on the day I'm afraid.

I am a bit frustrated by the lack of communication from the picnickers, even a "sorry can't make it" is helpful. It lets the organisers know possible spare spaces for other clubs and participants. Thanks to all who have let us know wether you're coming or not.
Pete, better bring the club tent, looks like it's going to be showery frown
Looking forward to it though. I hope the runway is well drained though, I don't fancy hitting standing water at over a tonne though shocked
Thanks for updating us Mark on your status.

Ross,
After watching Top Gear over many years we know that there have been many epic "wet" or "very wet" laps! Proof enough that the runway is far from we'll drained !
We'd better put those wet weather tyres on and spend all day Sunday cleaning the car! frown smile

I'm not changing my tyres now, it took the guy 1.5hrs to get mine on, same size as before, just a complete pain in the arse to get seated!
Did over 80 miles of hard driving last weekend bedding them in. No chance I'm getting them swapped over now! frown
Although I could put my 16" winter wheels on chinny
Just the drive down on Saturday will be enough for me to get the bucket out wink

Does anyone have the postcode for the Three Compasses?

How many plan to meet at this place?

3 compasses is GU6 8HY in Alfold. Alfold is on a series of bends in the A281. From Guildford you turn right then immediately right again at the second of a pair of turnings on a green island (the first is no entry). From Horsham you turn left at the first turning after the golf course and defunct BP garage, then immediately right. Just keep going for about 1/4 mile until you see the sharp 90 degree bend left. Gingerly turn right/straight on to the pub thats next to the airfield green gate. I got my ticket today, so will meet my fellow picnicers at 8-8:30 Saturday morning.

Hi all, I called the organisers of Wings & Wheels today due to the heavy showers forecast for tomorrow, just to check all is OK. Yes, there maybe flight cancellnation's due to low cloud, and there could be delays to the runway runs if heavy showers happen during the alloted time slot, generally though all will run as normal smile
Just remember your waterproofs! wink

I know it is all relative but I can't see any weather forecast to give me anything other than at least 60% chance of rain throughout the entire day!

B**l**ks!!

The weather app on my phone is saying 30% chance of rain for the hourly summary, yet the daily summary says chance of rain and the icon is sun and rain, go figure!

See you all tomorrow and if you spot someone that looks like me but 30 years older, that will be my dad who still doesn't know about the runway run yet hehe

Well, that should have been named Wet and Wheels or Washout and Wheels. Shame about the weather, light rain in the morning, stopped raining late morning, come about 3pm, heavy rain so there wasn't flying at all and tomorrow doesn't look any better.

Thanks to Ross for organising today, just a shame you couldn't sort mother nature out smile

The best video I took of the top speed run is here: http://youtu.be/2EDFzReaj3Y

and some other photos are here:
https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=...mp;l=64ed9e7260

It was fun, shame about the rain and the lack of a Vulcan, Typhoon, etc, but it was nice to meet so many of you, regardless of the weather.

Thanks for posting the videos and pics Steve (running order: Begbie, petep, Pondman & James5) Great to meet all the faces old and new. Shame about the lack of flying due to low cloud levels, but the two sets of runway runs were great fun. Interesting to see how the wet makes a huge difference to the drive, even in a straight line!
I'll try and post a vid of my 1st run shortly smile
Thanks again to all those who made the effort to come from far and wide to attend, even with the heavy rain it was still an enjoyable day thumb
