Just a quick straw poll for those interested in getting together for a Sunday lunch towards the Christmas end of the year. It will be close to the M25 for easy access and have a reasonable car park. I thought we'd try an alternative to the Grasshopper, but still friendly and good food.

If a venue hasn't been decided yet, this place always looks quite good for a meet, very easy from the M4 and M40. A little less south than the grass hopper but nice and close for me! laugh

Nah, Chef and Brewer reheat meals from frozen, not food prepared and cooked on the premises.

Not eaten in one of their places since they gave 3 out of 4 of us eating in their Aldershot place food poisoning. They won't get another chance at finishing me off thanks.

This is great that there is real enthusiasm for this smile
I propose The Rose & Crown, Dunton the reviews are favourable, there is a good sized car park and it is easy to get to for most wink there has been no favouritism in location, it just looked fairly central. There is even a 20% discount available on the food per table laugh
The menu seems good and varied.
The date I would like to book the venue for, is Sunday lunch 1st December. I hope this is OK with all? but I have to put a pin in the calendar somewhere.
I hope it will get all you "Bah, humbugs" in a festive mood for the month ahead wink
Please can you mark you attendance with a "confirmed" if you can make this date, thank you.

The Shire Horse car park is the venue for the (in)famous photo shoot of the matt green, black boot, 5 seater 'LE' Coupe for sale and discussed on another thread. Maybe the owner will show up, or maybe it is still there?

I know I am a noob to the forum, but this pub is very nice and the owner is very friendly (2012 landlord of the year) and a petrolhead (as you can see from the website).

http://www.theblackwoodarms.net/
http://lgn1317278951.site-fusion.co.uk/classic-car-club

He would love to have a load of Coupes in his car park. But we would have to book well in advance as seating indoors is limited - we'd probably own the place for the evening.

Wherever the venue, count me in please.

Alan

Looks like Ross was posting a decision for venue & date whilst I was typing my post. I didn't intend to suggest something after he had!

Presumably it won't be a strict Coupe meeting as I will probably have SORNed the old thing by then?! As may several others on the list?
At least I can assure you it will be Italian!

Ross,
Shall I contact MrT for a reunion?

Hi Chris,
By all means contact MrT, more the merrier smile anybody heard from Tim of late?
I too will be in an "alternative" vehicle (not Italian, family car), but it does have a very clever British designed engine to be proud of and what with the whole tribe to transport in comfort the LE has now been tucked up cosy in it's shrine.

Please can names be confirmed over this weekend, as I'm on holiday after Monday and I'd like to book a provisional number of seats before I go away for a week. Just copy and paste the list into a new post and add "confirmed" after you name (make sure you put numbers of your party down too wink ) and I will then know how many to book the restaurant table for. If names are added and not confirmed I cannot guarantee you a seat at THE table/s
Thanks for the positive feedback regarding this event smile

Right guys, provisionally booked a tables for 20 in the conservatory for 12:30 -1pm we have a 3 hour sitting. Please can those who have committed, check numbers in their group and amend as and when you are sure of attendance wink There is room for 35 in the conservatory, which is where we'll be seated. So there is plenty of space for others still to attend. But, please continue to "confirm" you name and add numbers a you go. I will need to update the restaraunte of final numbers closer to the time. Also can you have a look at the menus and decide if you would like a Festive meal or one from the standard menu. It would be really helpful to the restaurant to know rough numbers of the type of meal prior to the day of booking.
I know it seems forward to think of all this now, but as Christmas approaches, there'll be plenty of other things to be distracted by wink
We are booked as a group party under my name: "Ross Charman" also as a reference of the "Fiat Coupe Club"
Any Q's pm me smile

Apologies, but I am now unlikely to attend as I am attending an Xmas 'do' the night before and I doubt I will be in any fit state to drive to this the next morning. If I do wake up sober and anywhere near home and decide to come, I will be fighting James over any left-overs. yum

Hi all,
I've been contacted by the Rose & Crown to ask if we can decide wether well be having the Festive Menu or the Main Menu?
They said that they really need to know if it is the Festive menu you'll be having over anything else, as this has to be prepared separately. This will greatly assist the kitchen staff and lead to better service on the day. If you wish to eat anything from the other menu's that is no problem, as long as we dont all choose the same thing wink

PLEASE can those who have committed to this meal take a look at the menu's and at least make a decision from which menu you will be ordering from on the day lick
I have sweet talked the staff into not taking a deposit for this booking from me, as this would be a nightmare to work out on the day. All I ask from you is that you decide upon your preference for your meal on the day. I'll need to let the kitchen know about a week ahead of the 1st December. So could we have answers by the weekend of the 23rd November please, thank you smile

Just post a "Menu" preference for those in your party and I'll do all the collating of the info.

P.S.Childrens Menu also available

Point of order Mr. Chairman (or should that be Charman!),

It appears that the Fixed Price Menu is NOT available on a Sunday. Have they made an exception or do we ignore?

Hi

Had already posted saying I am now very unlikely to make it - Xmas party night before & unlikely to be in a fit state to drive or close to home on the Sunday morning. Will be craving for a Turkey roast though by lunchtime no doubt. lick

To all those who have not responded to pm's or requests for menu choices, you'll have to take pot luck on the day. I'm sure they'll have a few Xmas menus spare, I just can't guarantee it though.
Any TBC's or undicided's, please confirm either presence or menu choice throughout this week please. smile
Thanks, Ross.

Fixed it for you wink

I was going to come in the C-max 1.0T 3 cylinder, an interesting and plucky little motor. But as most have not seen the Fozzer, I'll come in that. At 250bhp she's no slouch wink

Hanny, are you thinking of attending?

It's quite close to me (only in Crawley) and it would be interesting to see some Coupes and new owners. Plus if Beggers pulls his finger out and turns up he is going to need me to help push start his motor tongue

Just need to run it by the misses when I get back from Denmark

Nah not at all, I'll be in a Scoobaru wink
Quite a few owners will have SORNed their coops for winter now anyway, like me smile
Could you let me know if are going to attend, so I can add extra places on to the booking. Also if you'd like the Xmas menu, let me know that too please.

Sorry for the late reply myself and bluemeanie are going to have to pull out because we have been dicked to live in muddy cold holes until Saturday night and may not be back in time. If we are then we will shoot down and say hello.

Great to see so many people coming along!

We will not be in the Coupe but one of two Alfas. Either Jean's Spider if weather is tolerable or the sick 159 ti so that the Brains Trust can give me a diagnosis- I think it may not be a water problem now! Free drinks if you can cure the problem!

Mostly looking forward to seeing old and new friends- we'll be there after 12:00.

It's always good when *someone* turns up in a coupe; at least we know we're at the right place.

The last couple of meets I've turned up in the Quanturbo, but unfortunately a critical part is waiting some welding, as is most of the coupe...

I’ve PM'd a few people but surely we can get more - double the qty should be the norm for such a prestigious forum and elitism ownership of such a true modern classic.
I’m sure there are a few people who are reading this post and thinking if they should or should not………if I can turn up after years away I’m sure you’ll be safe………..saying that I hope you guys at the meet are going to ‘gentle’ with my lack of up-to-date knowledge with the Coupe, I'm a very shy and a tiny bloke who jumps at shadows…..be gentle………… crazy laugh

Thanks to all who attended today. I hope you all enjoyed the get together? Even if there were a few hospitality issues. I enjoyed the food and it went down well on our table. It was good to see the youngest of the party getting on well together smile
Sorry I was late, bloody satnavs! Next time I'll do it old style and glance at the map prior to departure wink the M25 was lovely at a leisurely 50mph, when your late! Aaahhh!
Anyway, moving swiftly on, good to see some of the usual suspects and chat to members not met before.
Have a snowmanMerry Festive Seasonsnowmanand don't forget to get a pressie for the Coupe in you life laugh

Best wishes, Ross.

It was a good afternoon and good to see old friends and new faces. Thank you Ross for organising the whole thing regardless of getting lost!
Thanks for the diagnosis of diesel problems- flywheel and clutch is much cheaper than a new engine!
Have a great Christmas and New Year and look coward to more meetings in 2014.
