Put me down as a big kid. wink
For those of us in Scotland what's the plan to meet up? Are we gathering West to East / East to West and then heading down together?
Livingston to Moffat via Hyndford bridge takes 45 to 60 mins but isn't the most scenic route.
Going from Pentland Hills through Gorebridge, then onto B709 and past St Mary's Loch looks better but will take twice as long.
I guess it comes down to what time we want to set off?! laugh

The main idea is that all of us attending - meet up - and incorporate this little scenic excursion into our route, either on the way to Moffat, our on the way back to our respective homes again.

Excursion

Those of from the Lothian area. If we want to meet can meet at the Shell Petrol Station of the Edinburgh Bypass and go down either way to Moffat on the Circular route I've shown on Map. It's a nice Scenic route with pretty good roads mostly pothole free which I've driven already.
I'm happy just to meet up at Moffat in case I happen to drive too quickly/slowly for others. laugh

Route going either way.

I was just about to say that laugh

For us Lothian louts, if we're heading south initially on the Biggar Road a good place to meet is at the Esso station just after taking the Lothianburn exit off the Bypass.

So the options are

1. Drive to Moffat and meet at 1100, have coffee, set off round the track at 11.30 and be back in time for lunch at 1.00

2. Drive to Moffat and arrive in time for lunch at 1.00 then do the tour after lunch.

Any preferences?

Yes the Esso is the obvious spot but suggested the Shell as it has the >>>> V-POWER >>>>> driving

As for times....

I'm thinking the earlier option as it will probably make the lunch a bit more relaxing, and I would prefer to go for a stroll roondaboot Moffat to work off a bit of our lunch before getting back in the car. Younger ones and any pets might need a bit of exercising also.

I'll begin the day with a full tank so either starting point is good for me. Formation flying is part of the fun so I'll try keep up with someone from the off. If arriving for 11am, are we saying the Lothian departure will be between 09:30 & 09:45?
Lego, makes sense for us to team up right away as we're only 15 mins apart.

Yes, to get to Moffat via the scenic route from Hillend Esso station we'd need to leave by not much after 0930, that would allow a mini photo opportunity en route if wanted.

I pick my kids up in Rosewell at 10 usually (I can arrange an earlier collection) at the weekend.

I wonder if I can engineer a clever route to cut across and rendezvous at Nine Mile Burn or something like that...? (I can, through Roslin & Pencuik)

sorry- I've read this right through and have missed it; when are we thinking we might be back in Edinburgh for from our little adventure..?

If you join the A702 at Nine Mile Burn and carry on past the Mobility showroom and the B&B there is a parking Lay-by you can wait in. It's about 10 mins from the Esso station. Or just meet at the Tea Room in Broughton. see next post.

To save us from driving to Moffat twice. Why don't we all just meet at Tweedsmuir and then do the route through the hills and then back down to Moffat for Lunch at 1pm. It will save about 40 mins driving time for the Lothian Lot and means we can meet up a tiny bit later. We can get your coffee fix enroute at the Laurel Bank Tea Room in Broughton Simon, which is about 10 mins from Tweedsmuir and the start of the Excursion.

I'll aim to be at the Tea room by 10.30am and will meet you guys there.

Have a look here

sounds like a plan!

yes- well I'd prefer to join the convoy as soon as possible in the route actually and had hoped to take advantage of the large parking area in front of the mobility showroom and good visibility up to road to see you all coming...!

but I can roll either way...

the Tea Room count is going up!

(hey Simon- mabey I can get a bell out of this too!)

Hi Barney, if Lego is making his own way to Tweedsmuir you can either do the same or I can meet up with you at Esso Hillend off the Lothianburn junction, then go and pick up Dante Giacosa at Ninemileburn Mobility showroom. What do you think?

As all the other Legolites are coming and not entirely happy at getting up early on their non Schoolday; I'm anticipating being late and don't want you guys hanging around waiting on us in a forecourt or Lay-by. Also it's most likely we may not actually be coming from Linlithgow as we may be in Glasgow the night before . So the tea room in Broughton is a better bet for us. I reckon we will need to leave the Tea Room @Broughton by 11am ish. Obviously if we do come the same route and see you at the Esso.... wave we'll wave as we pass and get our orders in at the Tea Room before you. laugh

Esso at 09:30 works for me! smile
Brian, would you maybe like to meet up at my house or the Lizzie Brice Shell station and then take the A71? Alternatives would be to convene at the Deer Park BP station and take the M8 or just see you at Hillend Esso. So long as the sun is out, I'll be happy! laugh

DG - if you're cutting across from Roslin, here's a thought - bypass Penicuik on the A6094 and come through Howgate, there's a wee layby on the left just before you get to the Howgate Restaurant. It's easy for us to access from Hillend.

Layby

Say 0945/0950 hrs if that's not too early?

Straightforward from Hillend turn-off to Howgate, nearer to Roslin for DG, then the convoy proceeds to Laurelbank Tea Room and meet up with the Legolites if they've got up in time laugh

Ah,

that's interesting... It's actually the same road all the way to Laurel Bank, Broughton I think.

Well, that's very kind, but I test drove Rosewell to Nine Mile Burn today and I think it's 12 minutes. So I'm not asking anyone to divert for our benefit now that plans are afoot.

But, there might be 'some' advantage to that if other people fancied it- but I can make the 702 no problem- depends on the preference of others I think...

Is this going to be a 'performance' Sunday-drive?

Should I get helmets for the kids??
