We can do both Saturday or Sunday or both if you wish. You can even camp overnight if you'd like? Just fill in the form for the nessesary day/s

Due to last years issues of non inclusion of the club and it's cars, even after online applications having been completed. We will keep tabs on those who have applied and double check later that it is confirmed that we will be included.

Wings & Wheels are offering clubs the fantastic opportunity to show off your beautiful machines in a 1500m crowd line *grass parade before parking up in a dedicated Wheels Zone pitch. We’ll provide clubs with up to a 20m x 20m pitch where we want you to do the most imaginative and creative display with your vehicles. Awards will be made for the best displays and Wheels Zone participants are encouraged to promote their club, sell merchandise, display branded banners or flags and erect gazebos or marquees in order to make displays more appealing. Not part of a club? Then don’t worry you’re catered for too and will be positioned with other solo entries.

I have had an email advising we won't hear back regards whether our application has been sucessful until after the closing date of 15th July. Fingers crossed:)

I have just received a newsletter from the organisers saying there will be demonstrations by two drifting teams.

Among them I noticed will be Elder81's brother Adam.

Excellent, I know there was an issue with insurance so was not sure if his demo was going ahead still. Clearly is

what car does he use for drifting elder81 ?

He uses a highly modified Nissan 200sx S14.

This is him finishing second in his first ever international event He is in the blue one

He just beat the same guy in the final of the last Fuetopia Barrel Sprint competition.

They did not say which car the refusal was for. Even if they want the X1/9 it will not be going.

No, I neither understand nor accept your decision particularly following the debacle of last year.

I really cannot see why we should even bother to support your event.

Obviously our cars are not expensive enough to satisfy what seems to be the embedded snobbery in the Brooklands museum organisation.

I regret to say that I will not be renewing my Brooklands Trust membership next year.

Really feel we have been let down again and emailed back to that effect. Not sure I would support them at Auto Italia next year, why bother?

A little quote from their apology letter last year.

"Our sincerest apologies for this late development, rest assured that steps will be taken to prevent a recurrence for the 2015 event and that details of those who have been affected by this will be noted so they can be given suitable priority treatment for next years event."

I can't complain really as I was lucky enough to get on the runway in my Alfa last year but I can imagine how cheesed off you are cooperman,

I will speak to Emily Hooton, as I did last year, to see what can be salvaged from the wreckage for those who would still like to attend.

No joy from my end either, despite what I thought to be a well worded application and supported by several pics and actual video of the growl of my 20vt on a track day.

Did people receive an email or letter letting them know if they had been accepted ( or not!)?

I have yet to receive anything!

I expect that I will also not have been accepted, disappointing if it's true but that's life- Brooklands has clearly always has its favourites; and are gereatric in their organisation.

After my last post I thought I would email them as I hadn't heard ( I also didn't hear when I originally sent off the application- and emailed for conformation.)

This is my reply:-

"Chris, good morning.

All the e-mails were sent out yesterday afternoon to the e-mail addresses we had on the original electronic applications. I can see now from checking yours that we did not have the 2 in the address, so I have amended it now. Your application was one of those that was accepted. The body of the message was as follows;

Dear fellow motoring enthusiast.
Many thanks for your application to run your vehicle on the Wings & Wheels Motoring Demonstration at Dunsfold Aerodrome this year. The response from people this year has been enormous, with over 420 applications received for both days.
These applications have now been reviewed, and in line with the Dunsfold Wings & Wheels team’s wish to provide a “crowd pleasing spectacle” we have made our selection from the line-up of vehicles offered to us. Due to the limited number of places on offer, we have been unable to accept everyone, and have tried to put together a good cross-section of vehicles of different makes and ages.
I am pleased to let you know that your application has been one of those that has been accepted for the weekend.
Your tickets and passes will be sent out from week commencing Monday 27th July by the team at Dunsfold, so you should have them in good time for the weekend. If your passes do not arrive by the 15th August, please let us know so we can deal with the problem. If you find that you are unable to attend, please let me know. If you have received your tickets, would you also please send those back to me.

I have spoken to Emily Hooton about a Wheels zone space for the club.

There are none left for Sunday and only 3 left for Saturday.

I have asked her to keep one of those for us.

Among other things I have mentioned the following in my email:

Good try Pete, you have the patience of a saint as my dear old Mum would say hope a few get to show their Coupes on the Saturday.

Far from it Ashley, I'm inwardly seething.

I must admit I did send Steve Castle a rather terse email telling him how I felt the club had been treated very poorly particularly after the promises to give us priority following last years messing around. I doubt I will get a response though.

I vote we forget these guys, link up the countless other owners clubs, find a disused runway and put on our own event😁

Having organised/suggested inclusion to this event for many years now, I am upset by the way it has been run, but it has always been this way, so you just accept its short comings and move on. It has only really been a headache since we started to do the runway run via Brooklands Museum which seem to have piss poor organisational skills that it has become a major problem
One of the reasons for starting the RR's was FREE inclusion to the event. I take umbrage being a static display for their event and having to pay nearly full price for the privilege!

Maybe we should put a bid in for Manston airport and set up our own track day company but seriously I think this company are just taking the money and giving not a lot in return. Club events should be inclusive and not exclusively for those with a certain badge on the grille which is likely what we all are thinking.
Should we boycott it? Depends on your strength of feeling and whether you were able to make the Saturday which Pete says is the only day free for a club wheels zone pitch. I can't make the Saturday anyway so it's a yes for me:)

My take on this is not so much that the runway run meant getting in free but that it provided a focus for us all to meet.

Without that, the possibility of having a central parking and meeting point is the difference between Wings and Wheels and any other combined air and car show.

The shame is that with their crappy system, by the time the chosen few are known, it is too late to do much about an alternative focal point.

With today's inflated cost to do anything, £15 a person for a day out among your mates is better than a £28 bought at the gate price, when it is completely a matter of chance whether you can find anyone even by pre-arrangement.

Bear in mind that, if you are into aircraft, this is about the last chance to see a Vulcan display here in the south.

So, the 3 spaces available for Saturday they are Club spaces I presume?
I am possibly swayed to go, just for the last chance to see the Vulcan one more time. And the fact that I'm only 20 minutes away. I don't want to cut my nose off to spite my face!
But I doubt I will bother putting my name down again for the runway run until they have a transparent and organised and system for application.

As you say, there is no point in cutting your nose off to spite your face. The Vulcan swings it for me.

I think the ticket situation relates to the club getting a pitch on the inside, rather than just general entry

I was getting worried about this as it looked until today that Sunday would be a washout but now the weather forecast has revised the position to be wet on Saturday and dry(er) on Sunday although Iain and I will be the only ones there!

This and the curse of Shoreham for the last Vulcan flight means lean pickings I fear!

Still I do intend to go and get the old girl wet down the runway for a couple of laps- assuming the Grand Old Dukes of Brooklands think it is a good idea.

I am aiming for 08:30-45 arrival time as per usual. I'd hate to be left out in the field

I hope the weather was kind to the Sunday visitors - rain spoiled play on Saturday just in time for the Red Arrows, so we legged it early and missed the traffic

yes the weather was fine today but the xh-558 was cancelled due to bad weather .
