I have seen a number plate for sale which would be so perfect for my Coupe and I am so tempted! I really ought to get a new back box for it first but this is just the coolest Coupe plate for a NA. And it is only £185!

My Mum said the same today, you need a treat now and then she said, bless her! She is 92 and she fell in the garden last week when a concrete planter full of soil fell off some brickwork and pushed her over, trapping her foot under it. Poor thing has very bruised toes. Sorry I'm rambling on! Not really to do with Coupes!

Buy the plate Annie cool

Sounds like your Mum has been 'lucky' that she only had bruised toes. Hopefully, she was ok everywhere else and is recovering well.

I'm not saying what it is until after I buy it, just in case somebody else nabs it! But it's just perfect.

What a swizz! After everything added up it costs over £300! It's actually cheaper direct from the DVLA. I don't think I will be buying it after all. So here's what it was:

R 20V NA

(R for red!)

There are other first letters, "C" for coupe costs a bit more.

What a shame! I think you should have bought it cool

Out of interest which site was showing it at £185 and apparently disguising the real cost?

The prices are always typically without the transfer cost and VAT shown. Like you say, a rip off

I've only ever bought 2 private plates and got them both from the DVLA as there's no hidden costs involved.

£300 still isn't too bad for a private plate, but you have to factor in that the one you wanted is pretty car specific.

Mine is G6 UPE, which isn't too bad for any type of Coupe styled car or for those that don't realise it means Coupe, then it was also nicknamed Guppy, after the fish laugh Either way, I have both - a Coupe and Guppy fish laugh

Just trying to get a spare £80 together to transfer the plate from my old Coupe to this 'new' Coupe frown

I think if I was going to spend £300, I would want a plate which was specific to me, so I could keep it for another car if I sold the Coupe. There are lots of ANZ (Anne's) plates. ANZ 20V would be good.

I bought F2OVT direct from DVLA, (£399) but let it go with my Porto when I sold it thinking I'd lost the Coupe bug! (Had 2 more coops since!)

Slight twist in topic, but does anybody know a good place to sell a private plate. My dad passed away and left one which is worth quite a bit.

I have looked at Reg Transfers and eBay so far.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Hey Annie-

That's a shame about your Ma'; that must have been a terrible shock for her- I hope she's okay

On the plates front- I 'invested' in a plate for another car once- it was quite subtle- not exactly 'JIM 1' or anything, but I subsequently regretted it, and if I could change it back for free- probably would.

I just started to feel it was a bit overt, you know...

Often original-originality is still cool...

I have seen some interesting personalized plates here that describe the vehicle etc.

I was lucky to buy mine (well, my daughters did as a birthday present) many years ago, as per my photo below.

A good friend as GC600 on his 600 with the GC being his initials and also where he lives (Gold Coast). He also owns 50OX (just needs the car to go between them) whilst his father has FIAT on his Freemont.
