Unfortunately, Your wrong Dave. I once fell over a flagstone sticking up, and i got a solicitor on the job right away, because i fractured my ribs. She took photos of the flagstone with a two pence piece resting against it to show how much was jutted up. The limit is 2 inches and this was 3 inches. Photos and claim went into the council same day, and they paid out shortly after. Day after claim went in, they repaired it!!
If your car is damaged by a pot hole or a speed bump, then you have a claim of "unfit road and not suitable for purpose". Half the speed bumps they put in around my local roads, had to be skimmed as they were above regulation height, and the council had paid out on damaged engine sumps!
End of the day, if you have photographic evidence of the pot hole and damaged car, then the council will not contest it in court. It would cost them more to do this then pay out!!

Andy. \:\)

Ok guys it's update time! °\(

Coop's just got back from James Twist's with new wishbones and a new nearside topmount bearing and it's still banging. \:mad\:

Paul reckons the shocker itself is goosed and is getting me a quote. Total cost so far: £285 \:o

There's been some confusion over the location of this pothole with 2 suggested locations. I'm totally useless on this as I don't have a clue where I was! \:D I'm intending to get back up to the area to hunt it down unless someone's already found it / knows where it is? If I see the road I'll recognise it straight away. Can anyone supply me with the route we took from Whoop Hall to the Sportsmans that I can put into the TomTom and I'll retrace my route?

Thanks for all the support guys. \:\)

Not technically a bad idea. It could have been one of many.

well now I can be added to the list of victims. Just had 4 new tyres fitted and found that my front nearside spring has snapped. \:mad\: Must be recent because 4 weeks ago it passed a mot. hadn't noticed any change in the handling of car so suggest that everyone at the meet has a good check of their suspension etc.
On a plus note, time for a new suspension set up. \:\)
I will be popular with the missus.

Sorry to hear about that mate. \:\(

Hopefully on a positive note, I'm going up to Whoop Hall on Saturday afternoon to retrace the route and find this road and pothole.

This'll be after I've paid a visit to Paul at MotorMech to have a replcement PRV fitted so hopefully this trip will be entertaining and safe for the car (so long as I spot the pothole and don't hit it like last time. \:D )

Once found, lots of photos taken (for anyone who needs them) along with a detailed description of exactly where it is.

Just a quick update for anyone that's been following this or sustained damage themselves.

Tried to retrace the route yesterday after meeting up with Mitch but ended up getting totally lost. °\(

Found a section of road that I recognised and noticed that fresh tarmac had recently been laid. \:mad\: Not sure that this was the location though.

I want to have another go but would need the exact route thst we took. Is anyone else thinking of claiming for damage from this?

OK - I now have a repair bill for £500 \:o following my introduction to the billiard table smooth roads of the Lakes. \:mad\:

I've tried retracing the route once, found sections of it then got totally lost. °\(

It looks like I'll just have to accept this and put it down to experience unless someone is able to help. \:\? The offending pothole has probably already been filled in but I'd like to be able to be sure.

Does anyone have a full, detailed map of the route that we took? I was in the "back end" group that got seperated from the main group in traffic. From some comments on here it seems we may have taken a slightly different route to the main group?

Thanks to everyone who's posted and PM'd me about this and any information would be much appreciated. If anyone is able to take me around the route, I don't mind paying fuel costs etc.

Thanks again guys. \:\)

I missed the programme but Trevor Macdonalds TONIGHT programme was all about this.

Just to say a big "thanks" to Mr & Mrs Solas \:\) for meeting me at Whoop Hall and taking me through the original route (and for coffee!) \:\)

When I originally tried to retrace the route I found a large hole on Crook Road and took photos. Having travelled back over Crook Road today, we found that this pothole had recently been filled and white marker lines placed around. My plan is to find out who's responsible for this and make an appropriate claim. Crook Road is a B road so this won't be straightforward but if anyone else wants the photos, PM me your email address and I'll send them to you. \:\)

When I hear anything, I'll update here.
