All,

a bit of an FYI but me and a few mates are keeping our options open for open races at Daytona, MK. Basically you can turn up and race against people you don't know and have proper races - Enduro, GP heats, min races etc. - that would normally require an exclusive booking and a tonne of hastle.

The next one at Daytona is on Sun 22nd July. It's a GP Heat meeting. Which means for £45 you get a practice, 3 heats, a semi-final and the best 5 go through to a final with me (ok, it's acutally the best 6 go through... ;\) ).

IMO this is the best way to do Karting. You get to have a series of races and breaks between them, so you can chat about races with ya mates, far more involved than any other format.

Anyway, so if anyone is in the area and fancies a blast with no booking hastle, probably against decent opposition, then pop by Daytona in Milton Keynes in the morning and they may have some spaces. I'll be there probably with some mates, unless something comes up. It goes on a first come first served basis though... so the score is easy. Turn-up early-ish and either pay and have a race or go home no worse off.

I checked out the last open race they had and the carpark was rammed. They do about 2 open races per week, but most are crappy enduro races or short ones on their Micky Mouse north circuit. This format is the best VFM.

Good work keep us informed on dates as and when you get them.

A bit an annoying thing for some though as some poor sod organises a day out for all his office/mates etc and I turn up and win the trophy \:\)

Pah! I've yet to see you backup your claims! Put your money where your mouth is! ;\)

tbh I have no idea how busy it will be. So anyone coming from further away should pay in advance (they don't take deposits for open races). Seeing as I'm local I'll just keep turning up every other week.
