Hi All, I am soon to be applying the GTEC1 and PRV and would like to know if anyone can advise on a good rolling road in the middlesex area to have fuelling checked and changed if need be.

Can you just use one of these dial-a-tune vans that comes to your house?

How much will this cost me?

Cheers

Er I wouldn't use a dial a tune 'van' really. I doubt they would be able to check your fueling once moving, only idle or reving the engine under no load.

I had a van come out and tune up my weber carb on an old metro years ago. Adjusted idle and throttle enrichment etc.... but that was only to get it through the MOT emissions.

Chris

P.S If you have a standard exhaust with catalitic converter your results will be off (they stick the wideband lambda up your exhaust)

Ooh that doesn't sound good! I don't like the sound of having a wideband lambda stuck up my exhaust!

Which results will be off? Will the rolling road results be off? Will this be a problem?

OK, so I Have spoken to power engineering and I made some enquiries about what they can do for my coupe.

They advised that for £400 plus VAT that they could give me +40BHP. I then mentioned to him that I was planning on doing the mods myself (PRV and GTEC1) to add an extra 30BHP and he got very defensive indeed!

Would it just be worth going for a power engineering tune than doing it myself? I am thinking of my time and the hassle against getting someone else to do it and the extra 10BHP!

By fitting the PRV and Gtec1, you should be at roughly 250bhp. I'd also get a boost guage if you haven't already as you won't know what boost the PRV will be set to.

The RR won't be able to get 40bhp over the 250bhp you'd have with the Gtec and PRV, so I'd save the remap money and purely get a fuelling/power/torque check. Then you'd have about another £400ish for more mods, maybe an exhaust and filter or something.

Fitting a Gtec is about half an hour about the same for fitting a PRV and then about another half an hour setting the PRV up with the correct boost.

Fuelling check is around £50 or so.

Cheers,

Mark

Sorry, maybe I was a little unclear... I was considering going for either the GTEC1 and PRV (and boost guage) to give +30BHP or to opt for the rolling road (power engineering) and engine tune which they claim will give +40BHP for £470...

Any advice would be great fully received. Thanks.

yes, go somewhere else. The Gtec+PRV+boost gauge is fine for a little more power, then a rolling road to check the fuelling, there is a rolling road session going on in surry for £40 in november.

I would be interested to know exactly what you are getting for £470 when

Nobby... Nice one mate. This is exactly what I needed to decide against power engineering and go for the custom FCUK tune!
