Well my coupe is booked in to powerstation on saturday 24th may at 11am
for a power run and fuelling check ;\)

Anyone whom is around can come up and watch \:\)

The main reason why i am getting the coupe RRd is purly to check the fuelling,

and if it makes good power/torque its a bouns \:#

Spec;

GT28rs 64a/r
2.7' 5-stud blueflame exhaust,decatted
PA fmic
Sip, ramair filter
Walbro pump + live feed
Profec spec b
Helix organic clutch
TI chip

Im only going to be runing a modest 1.3bar midrange,
dropping to 1.1bar topend

Any ideas on what power/torque could be \:\?

Im hoping for around 300bhp/280lbs \:P

Ben

really depends on how the fuelling is with the chip! but i would say maybe 10bhp more if the fuelling is good!

I could do with a fuelling check too and like Powerstation. I'll keep an eye on this thread.

Well it went better than i expected \:D

The fuelling was as expected which was fine and the operater was more than happy with it \:D

Bearing in mind, im not easily impressed
but this left me speechless

Thats a very very good result, your running about the same setup as me (only difference is turbo) but i won't get that much power. I would be very happy but slightly worried that its making such good power, as the stock internals (as far as i know) take only about 330bhp before problems. Your torque is very nice, i bet it feels fast.

I am going in afew weeks to powerstation too.

Thanks Ash,

I thought the stock internals could take a max of 350bhp.

Though it is at the top end where i rairely take it, im happy \:D

Its all about that midrange pull ;\)

Looks like a very nice setup, is the chip your using a torque italia one. I am running the gtec2 chip but at 1.35bar it doesn't feel like 350bhp \:\) (but only tried once to setup boost controller though)

If you change gear at 6k then you will have a nice quick car, i would be very pleased.

Yep a TI chip \:\)

bearing in mind im only running a little below 1.35 mid and
1.18 at 7k

also bearing in mind that powerstation rollers from what ive heard give a slightly higher reading,

so evan at say, 345/350 its still fine

That looks like a good result for an RS with .64 however I think the flywheel figure is calculated incorrectly as why is it you have 362BHP at flywheel but only 271BHP at the wheels whereas I have 318BHP at flywheel and 281BHP at the wheels? With stock internals you are sitting on a time bomb it would be a shame when it goes as the car looks mint in the pic. Anyhow I would be pleased with the results too \:D

Good results - the boost that you are running is very similar to me on a GT28R, so I doubt you'll have issues as long as the car is not detonating. It's certianly not excessive, and you have done the right thing IMO getting the car set up as you have done...

Powerstation's road does read higher than most. On another rolling road you'll make 320-330 odd I would have thought. The 350 bhp limit of the standard internals is only a guide - what is far more important is that the car is running a safe map and that the car is performing as you want it to on the road.

Nice one. \:\)

I dont really know why the wheel figure is a little low \:\?

hopfully the engine will stay together as i dont really push it that hard all the way to the top \:D

As i said previously the fuelling was fine so the bhp/torque is a bouns

Thanks Si,

The car was'nt detonating so thats ok \:\)

Evan if the car makes 320/330 on another RRd i'll be happy \:D

It is how i wanted the car to perform when i decided on the turbo,

Good spreed of torque through out the midrange,
and faily good spool up \:#

Great results \:\) What was the fueling like compared to your wideband?

It's a fantastic torque curve, classic coupe on a midsize turbo where at exactly 4800rpm you can see the cam variator come into action giving you an extra 12-14lbs/ft \:\)

Don't worry about the wheel figure, this discussion has been done to death on here and is simply a product of the MAHA dynos. The reason you made 360bhp is not because you are making more torque than expected but because it didn't drop off too quickly from 6000rpm showing a nice efficient boost setup for the conditions.

Thanks flea \:\)

The fuelling was fine runing low/mid 11afr, thought just before 7k about 6250k it ran 12.3afr

it suprised both me and the operater \:D

Also the coupe sounded very much like a audi quatro high up the rev range \:D \:P

Nice result Benny! \:\)

Is the TI chip a plug and play chip or is it just for your set up?

From what i understand, please someone correct me if im wrong

It is a plug and play chip which is designed to be used with a gt28r/rs.
from what i gather you need certian things to support it and on some other coupes it doesnt run very well.

idealy, the afr should you should run with the chip is around 11.3 to 11.5 as it runs a fair bit of advance

Basically ive set the coupe up on my wideband and theres the result \:\)

Happy days \:#

What things do you need \:\?
New FPR?
Better fuelpump?
New wastegate actuator?
FMIC?
Bigger DP?

Most likely all of the above and a direct voltage feed for the pump, plus a boost controller.

The chip is going to have been setup on one car, and even with identical setups there is no guarantee that it would work on yours. In Benny's case he's popped the chip in and had the car checked out thoroughly on a rolling road, and is happy with the map that it is producing. I would say that his car is running very slightly lean at the very top end for my taste, but it is still running safely as long as it not detonating (which it isn't.) and he is running sensible boost at the redline on the standard internals. \:\)

hello benny yeah i would say that the flywheel power is wrong cos i have 338bhp at the fly and 295bhp at the wheels and have been running this power for about 2 months now and i really do push the car to its limits and it still runs very healthy and my engine has done 142k miles and im still on the standard internals so i would say you dont have anything to worry about it just keep up to date with your oil changes or make them more frequent i change mine about every 2k so keep up the boosting mate

eh the only thing a rr measures is wheel torque. According to those results you have a 25% transmission loss of 90 bhp which is nonesense that means the transmission has to dissipate 67,000 watts of energy ran for 10seconds at that power would lift the oil by 200degrees C (I estimated specific heat capacity at 1.67kj/kg K with 2kg of oil). I think you'd be cooking you chips in that oil. Esitmate a simple 15% loss give you a 311 bhp estiamted FW figure which seems reasonable.

12.3 over 6k isnt great. U need to be nearer 11.8 on that chip.

Yeah i know what ya mean. Well as long as you stay under 6k, you'll be fine...although why u chose a rs if staying below 6k is confusing me \:D

GTiR with high midrange boost could have achieved something similar.
