Ireland- Coupe Meet 16/23 May 2010?

Howdy Y'all

It's about time we met up again for a Sunday spin and a bit of carvery.

Is anybody up for a coupé meet next month? How's about Sunday 23rd May? Or Sunday 16th May? Heck, even a saturday would be a possibilty.

Location, location, location? There's the option of Carlingford again with nice winding roads (please God don't rain like the last time). Alternatively, we could look at other locations such as Athlone again or elsewhere to be decided.

Karlos475 is eager to get his coupe out from under the covers. Darmtb, Maastif, Gobby, CollieD Albertone, you all need a spin!

I'll start off the ball rolling.

There's a Rolling Road in Lisburn called East Coast Customs. I've never been to it but I'm planning on going there in a few weeks when I'm getting my remap done. It's £50 a session. Perhaps they'll do a group discount? Anybody else know of a decent RR?

I know of another, AI Autosport but it's a bit farther north for ye guys!

You all the way down there in Waterford? That'll be a bit of trek alright. We may end up meeting somewhere more central again, such as the Hodson Bay Hotel, Athlone. We'll have to see who's up for it.

Where the hell is everybody anyways? I might PM some of the lads and rustle up some interest.

have been v busy last few days.

Would definitely be up for a meet on either of those days.

There is a slight possibility somethings might come up but will worry about that if it happens.

Location is not a big issue and am willing to travel. Any excuse to drive!!

Just been to Brooklands Auto Italia day where there were a total of 63 coupés! Do you think we could beat that record?

Perhaps 6.3 Coupes if Albertone doesn't get his engine fixed.

I would thoroughly enjoy a Karting session with some genuine car nuts, I'd say there'd be some craic!!

Karting is out for me I am afraid. My right hand is in a cast. Still can drive has have the use of thumb and main index fingers.

On the other hand (excuse the pun) Left hand karting might be fun!!

Rolling soad somewhere sounds interseting too.

Thanks Bob. It was great to meet you too. Sorry I didn't get back over again later in the day, but I was with my bro-in-law and I didn't want him getting bored while I chatted about coupés all day long!!

I'll def be over for Brooklands next year. I'd like to get to Goodwood FoS in 2011 too.

Looks like a poor showing this time. I'll do one last shout out to the lads and if we don't get many takers we may postpone until another time and try and get a proper posse of 10 cars or so.

So I think this is pretty much knocked on the head. The only two interested parties (other than me) are Karl travelling from Donegal and Eoghan travelling from Waterford. I think it's too much of a trek for both parties just to meet up for such a small meet, so I think we may forget about this and try for another time.

Well, that's now freed up my Sunday to accept the invite to that bbq

Just back on today. Have been flat out with work and wedding plans etc . Five weeks away so not getting any coupe or forum time.

I have confirmation that the I can keep the coupé so long as we can afford it. I also have confirmation that I can swap to a similarly priced unreliable Italian rustbucket if I wish, such as a 3.0 V6 GTV

I might consider selling the coupé soon and either get sensible and have no sporty number or go Alfa V6-style!!

Sounds like a nice alternative. I found the coupe a more exciting drive though. IMHO.

Seriously though, that´s a long way off. Next week is service time, new fuel filter, new rear wheel bearing and "paint maintainance" (aka start sorting out the rust).

Howdy Folks,

Been a while! Status update: Coupe still sitting in the same spot for last 7 months now, but the Alfa is going well! So I have finally pulled my finger out. I am currently making arrangements to bring it over to Joe on a trailer, get belts done and all the other little bits and pieces. If all goes well then I'm planning on popping down to Leighton for a fleamap while I'm over there

it's touching to see that you just couldn't bring yourselves to have a meet without me All going well we can try again in August.

Guys why don't you have a Coupe meet on the 31st of July and all head up together for the all IIMD. It would be good to see you all together. It's nearly all motorway now so a pretty straight run.

Just a thought.

I will hopefully be on a sunny beach somewhere...still haven't booked anything but hope to fly out Wednesday of next week. This is always a handy one for me as its only ten minutes up the road. But this year I think I deserve a suntan
