Unbelievable :( - 20/02/2015 19:20

Well my car failed its mot , and has been up at the garage having the following work done , small bit of welding on the rear jacking point , new handbrake cables , 2x new cv boots , new front disks new front pads and all new brake pipes , bear in mind this took the Micky it took them 9 days for me to finally get my car back yesterday , took it for a drive tonight and was shocked .

I had both my young kids in the car aged 3 and 8 and the brake pedal went to the floor brakes failed , just managed to limp home ,
I also heard lots of noises coming from the front ,it felt horrible to drive .
I got it home and pulled on the top of front wheels and they nearly fell off I popped the wheel caps off and both drive shaft nuts I could turn with my fingers shocked I am not happy to say the least .

Very lucky to be here

Let me guess where you will be going first thing in the morning Daniel.

Shocking is the only way to describe what has happened.

Glad no one was killed.

Holy cow, glad you all managed to get home in one piece. Bad enough just for you but with the little ones in the car it's just not on, someone clearly has dropped a bomb

I'd want blood!
Glad you and your family are ok fella, personally I'd want a full refund for the labour on what was done, as it was obviously a monkey or small child that did it.

Get your break down recovery firm to come out and do a write up on it and then take legal action. It will only cost you a free call out

Re: Unbelievable :( - 21/02/2015 00:25

I'm glad you and the kids are ok and that you managed to get the car home in one piece too.

Yes, mistakes happen, but as you've said, if he had an apprentice doing the work, he should have been checking it during and afterwards.

Maybe you should name and shame so others wont go there.

Re: Unbelievable :( - 21/02/2015 08:53

Gosh, thank goodness you were all unharmed - seeing red would be understatement finding that sloppy work. The garage owner should be bricking himself and one can only hope he learns a lesson for he too has had a lucky escape.

Re: Unbelievable :( - 21/02/2015 17:41

Truly shocking is all I'm saying I took it up today got it on the ramps , drivers side driveshaft bolt was only on the last thread , passenger was loose , the explanation was the young lad didn't knock the pins on end of nut into groove in driveshaft , so worked loose very unliky after only 8 miles I said .

3 break pipes not tight so we're leaking fluid , both ball joint bolts were finger tight aswell , I've gone through it with a fine tooth comb when it was up on the lift .

All Is good now , lesson learnt oh and to top it off the car was thick with sludge inside and out so I've had to get it Valeted at my cost frown

Re: Unbelievable :( - 21/02/2015 19:55

Jeez,Dan. Glad no-one was injured by this diabolical service. How many other customers of this garage are driving around with similarly dangerous cars? I'd have a word with your local Councils trading standards officer. A refund of the labour paid sounds appropriate too. Do you trust them to fix the wheel bearings? Bad luck mate - choosing a garage can be a lottery.

Re: Unbelievable :( - 22/02/2015 13:05

Reading threads like this makes my blood boil, a young lad was allowed to work on your car but no senior staff checked their work once finished grr

I would raise hell with the manager and stop the payment or ask for a full refund, loose castle nuts that weren't torqued correctly, brake fluid leaking from loose unions, omg this could of been far worse so needs perusing further.

Very pleased no one was hurt and your Coupe wasn't written off.

Re: Unbelievable :( - 22/02/2015 14:26

Glad to hear all are safe. Stick to the tried and tested. Would you ever go back. Get it right first time or lose my custom for ever. Get the 5 years free servicing and Mot charges as a one off cheque and go to someone that digs Coops, if he's sh**ing himself.

Re: Unbelievable :( - 22/02/2015 14:41

Maybe better using a coupe specialist to do the work in future rolleyes
I think we have some on the forum somewhere...
Glad you and your family escaped a serious accident...

If it had been specialist work I would have but brakes , pipes, and cv boots any garage could do , if I had the time I would have done it myself but withit failing mot I couldn't move it frown

Re: Unbelievable :( - 22/02/2015 15:18

Glad you and the family were not hurt as a result of poor workmanship. Needless to say, you need to warn anyone you can who is local to you, not to go anywhere near that particular garage!

Re: Unbelievable :( - 24/02/2015 01:08

So glad everyone was safe. This is the one reason I willl only trust a specialist with my Coupe.
I only use 1 specialist. But I am sure the others out there would be totally horrified by this.
This Forum is fab, and in all honesty the people on here have their heart in the right place. Thankyou to everyone. smile
