I was looking for a dash cam/sat nav combo for the trip, but I could only find one model, and it's not worth the 180 pounds.

That looks like an awesome trip! I can't see the map properly on my phone, are you driving over the Millau Viaduct? If not then you should, and take a detour under it for a good photo with your coupe in the background!
Also the Pont du Gard is worth a stop.

My best bit of advice is go buy a Go Pro/video camera and a half decent camera, you won't get to do a trip like that very often! Then you can always sell them for a small loss when you get home if you want to (this is what I've done in the past and it worked well!)

I came back from Turin last year via the Stelvio pass, and it had only just opened at the beginning of June, I doubt it will be open this early in the year. When I went it was deserted, and even on full lock around the hairpins, some were pretty tight ooo If you're in to old Fiat's, the Centro Storico is worth a visit, only open on Sundays however.

I also dropped in at the Nurburgring, 4 laps for 100 euros, and then dropped in to see the Abarth "museum" www.abarth-gmr.be just SW of Antwerp, call Guy Moerenhout first to arrange the visit, a very friendly host smile

Sounds like a cool trip. On your way through the south of France, Carcassonne is worth a visit as is Avignon.

You are fantastic people, thank you.

I checked the webcams for the Grossglockner and I doubt it will be open before mid May, so I'll skip that this year (I was there a few years ago, it was fantastic)
Noted the comment about the Stelvio, when I was there the last time it was full, so I guess I'll skip that too this year. (note: if any of you go to Switzerland during the summer, I strongly recommend this route, the roads and the view are excellent: http://www.myswitzerland.com/en/motorbike-tour-four-pass-ride.html)

We were at Carcassonne - I think - two years ago, when we did the Pyrennes part of the Tour de France in a rented Giulietta (from Bilbao to the Costa Brava) and had a great local bean soup at a restaurant, but the most amazing thing was 3 Russians singing some religious songs in the cathedral there, we just sat there frozen and shocked how beautiful it was.

I added Centro Storico, Avignon and the Abarth "museum" to the list, thank you.

I'm still not sure about the gopro thing, 500 pounds is a bit steep, I might just bring a normal camera for the pictures and use my wife's Lumia 1020 to take a video of the lap.

How unfortunate, Spa has an open day when we have to be on the ferry back home. Maybe in 2017 with the rest of you guys in the summer (we plan to go to Iceland next year, and it's so expensive no other holiday for us that year)?

thanks again, keep the suggestions coming smile

Yeah, around that time, depends if we have time to visit our friends in the UK on the way back or not.

How's it going? I did a similar trip via a timing belt change in the U.K to the Nurburgring, finishing at Kitzbuhel in Austria in '07.
