Car Throttle Fiat Coupe video

I very briefly saw an announcement yesterday saying there was a video coming out on Friday. I think it was something along the lines of why the Coop is underrated and that it isn't as unreliable as some people think. I can't seem to find it anywhere now though.

The Coop seems to be a favourite with Car Throttle in general and Alex Kersten seems like a big fan, so it should be a good video!

Apologies for the late post, but i'm not on the forum nowadays!

This all came about a bit quick
last Thursday - my friend tagged me in an Instagram post saying that Car Throttle were looking for a Coupe as part of their 'Automotive Misfit' series. So I messaged Alex with details of my Plus.

For those that haven't heard of Car Throttle, it's a YouTube channel with just under 2 million subscribers. The presenter (Alex) was also on Top Gear Extra last month, so I think he'll end up going places! The channel is worth a look - their F-type review is one of my favourite videos on the whole of YouTube!



Saturday - it is confirmed they want to use my car



Tuesday - they film my car! It was shot just outside Whaley Bridge in the Peak District.



So I had virtually no time to prepare or tart up my Coupe over the wet Bank Holiday - so what is you see is pretty much my daily driver after a tough winter, with a wash at 6am on Tuesday morning!!

But luckily I had been to JBT's a couple of weeks earlier for its annual big service and MOT so mechanically it was pretty much spot on! Alex seemed really keen on the car - he was actually close to buying one 10 years ago. He loves the look of them and I think the coupe really grew on him the more he drove it. He actually re-shot the interior driving segment - so hopefully that was for the better!

All the guys were top blokes and it was a privilege being able to experience the amount of work that goes into one of these videos. Hopefully me any my coupe will have done you all proud!

About the video they posted with the engine sounds - The video is awesome, but I kind of wish he'd found some longer straights and properly opened it up!!

Positive comments overall. I think someone needs to tell this person about specialists though!

Or did specialists used to charge £1500 back when this person was thinking about getting a Coop?

In 1997 Fiat Dealer's were chargimg circa £1400 for a cam belt!!

It was shot just outside Whaley Bridge in the Peak District. It's not somewhere I've been before, but the roads are definitely worth exploring!!

I don't think they truly captured the feel or pace of the Coupe.

They seemed to be more minded about what can go wrong. More to do with the 1970's mindset of the british driver even though he clearly liked the car.

Bur - he was clearly passionate about it. And the car performed to every demand- and no matter what anyone says- looked great in that electric blue hue.

hats off to you for chipping it in to that high definition test. You should be proud of her.

And extra bonus for referencing your other coupes!

I’ve just found this excellent vid too. It has got me lusting after another, just after my thoughts had strayed (heaven forbid) onto another marque.

the only part of the video that annoys me is some of the misquotes from alex. Apparently the LE and plus came with brembo calipers. So did the 20vt's

Ah yes but they were painted red, so much more special

Apparently, the Plus was called Plus because of the extra wide turning circle and the extra spoke in the alloys.

Also, the space saver tyre was inflated by an extra 2psi, and the exhaust came with 1 extra burble.

Caught up with this excellent shoot at last, one of the most down-to-earth but overall positive vids I've seen about it. Ideal and relaxed craic from yourself Nick under pressure from cams and mikes, also hats off for loaning it to someone else!

Really well thought-out video with plenty of action angles interspersed with chat and solid info.

The coop looked immense btw though don't suppose it stayed that shiny for long!

Makes you wonder why they didn't call it the Extra.

It's not too far off standard to be honest.

Power - it has a stage 1 turbo, SIP with cone filter and full stainless exhaust. It has a Blitz boost controller, which is set to approximately 1.08 bar. So its probably around 240BHP and not far off a GTEC 1 chipped Coupe.

Everything else is standard (suspension, brakes, gear shift, bushes etc)

So it definitely sounds louder (and better) than standard and has a bit more of a kick!

I can't imagine there many (if any?) Coupés out there running bog standard bore mild steel exhausts?

If you haven't upgraded things like the OEM DV either, then it's probably making less power than standard anyway. Mine was a useless piece of perished rubber 10 years ago...



If you're running a SIP, you must have a FMIC too?

My bad. It seems to go well though.
Surely a FC performance map is in order.

My last couple of coupes have been mapped by Flea and he's done a good job. The current map on this one is fine though - I have other things on the list above a remap!!

The coupe looks really nice in the vid Nick.

Echo that - the difference was pretty much night and day when Flea gently tuned mine. Talk about making a Coupe all she can be! And better fuel returns too win-win!.....your coupe looks like she deserves it!
