New home for my Coupe

New home for my Coupe - 04/02/2021 12:24

Today we have just managed to change the registration over to Bulgaria. Easy enough process with someone to translate for us.
This is now the 4th country the Coupe has been registered in. The car was purchased new in Dubai then shipped to the UK. It was only in the UK for a couple of years and then off to France. It was registered in France from 2005 and now here we are in Bulgaria. Its LHD so its been good to keep the car here in mainland Europe.
Very happy today.

Presumably a very rust free Coupe as it spent most of its life in Dubai !

Lol. I will stick with the French thing for now.

Pretty rust free, yes. Some surface rust and plenty of dings!!! Will need some bodywork and a respray in the not too distant future.

Have you looked into changing your driving license there Frazer? I've just read a piece about it and it looks testing!

Hi Joe,

Interestingly its not possible to change until you have had residency for 6 months!!! After that it is just a matter of transferring it over so no issue. The UK licence is valid for one year after Brexit.
Everything here is actually pretty simple other than the language.
Residency here only took 2 days from start to finish. Karen's car was registered in a couple of hours from French to Bulgarian plates.

Some things have changed since Brexit. To buy a house here now you need to start a company and register the house in the company name. No big deal just more paperwork. Lots of Brits who have been here for many years are using this system as they purchased property before Bulgaria joined the EU.

Hope all is well with you guys and you are still keeping busy. I guess no track days for quite a while now. Bet you cannot wait to get back in the track again.

That sounds good on all fronts mate. I was under the impression that you at least had to have applied for the new licence before the end of last year. Now any later and there's more hoops to jump through. Let's hope it's simple enough for you.

Can you imagine changing a car from Bulgarian to French here,on that ANTS site! 3 months if you were lucky. It seems that the various gouverment website builders here just can't design for the sites to be busy.
They just all fail!

I'm just starting out at getting an Irish passport! So getting copies of my Parents birth certificates is my first hurdle, which hopefully is now achieved.

Work keeps coming in unfortunately. Other than that all is well as can be here.

Cheers.
