Best: Ferrari ass. Makes a lovely deep sound.

Worst: No turning circle. Turns you into a mental paranoid fccuker.

Best: Still turns heads after 15 years on the road.

Worst: No storage for sunglasses, bottle of water etc. And the glovebox is rubbish!

Dislike the inaccessibility of everything under the bonnet on the 20v \:\/

Re: The best and worst things about the Coupe? - 29/01/2009 22:49

Best: The sudden turbo kick after flooring it below 2000rpm and full boost comes on when the revs rise \:#

Worst: Turning circle... I feel like an oil tanker captain sometimes, plotting my route

Re: The best and worst things about the Coupe? - 29/01/2009 22:57

Best: Entering the Dartford tunnel, and hanging back from the person in front as far as possible without getting beeped. Waiting until the very bottom, opening the windows all the way, and flooring it right up the hill. Beautiful. Makes me chuckle every time.

Worst: Headlights make the journey home each night something of a lottery. (And all the above comments ;\) )

PS - The left hand tunnel has better acoustics than the right tunnel for some reason.

Worst thing, no rain guttering

Best thing, They are so cheap you can buy a good one for £3,000!

Re: The best and worst things about the Coupe? - 29/01/2009 23:22

Worst, turning circle encourages you to carry on to the nearest roundabout, rather than attempt a 3 point turn. And the handbrake has about as much ability to hold the car on a hill as a small child (though that is perhaps being unfair on the child).

Best, it looks and sounds awesome. Oh, and you can pick a good one up for less than half that - I just did ;\)

Best thing:People still stare at the car and occasionally compliment the car in petrol stations and car parks.

Worst: Having to get your passenger to wipe the windows down inside for you everytime it steams up every five minutes when it rains because your too busy squinting through the window to see past the 1 metre of illumination that the headlights provide while worrying about putting on the rear screen de-mister incase:-

a) You lose the radio transmission at the point where it's about to give you the most useful traffic information of the day.

b) You may push the button through the dash

I'm totally in agreement with people still staring and got a few compliments too,
I've never had any problems with it steming up, not without due cause ;\) I changed the pollen filter and always have climate control set to auto.

I think I found the culprit for the steamed up windows whereby some paperwork had got wet in the front of the boot (boot seal)

HID's sound like a plan

I which case the new worst will be:-

Handbrake and frozen locks \:P

Best: engine noise, styling, individuality, anonymity
Worst: turning circle, rear 3/4 vision

To me, it's an utter beguiling car. Up until now, I always used to be thinking about what to get next. Whilst I still do that, it's now as an addition to, rather than replace.

I love em to bits. Just love em.

Sunglasses case goes in the little narrow long tray on the transmission tunnel next to the handbrake, one of the bigger squareish Volvic bottles fits snugly in the holder in between the seats.

Re: The best and worst things about the Coupe? - 30/01/2009 21:28

Best :- Looks, individuality, grunt, everyday usability, the way passengers look out of other cars and obviously comment 'that's that crap car off Top Gear' and then watch it disappear with a boner-inducing engine note.

Worst :- Visibility when parking, turning circle, the ability to tune it and therefore the inifinite cost, gauge-watching paranoia, the way bits split and fall off (justifying the gauge-watching paranoia) :-(

Re: The best and worst things about the Coupe? - 30/01/2009 21:33

Best: different styling to most cars.

Worst: random noises that get you worried for no reason.

Re: The best and worst things about the Coupe? - 30/01/2009 21:39

i love silver!

any how best

the looks you get from other drivers,
kids asking mums if its a super car
looking back over a car park full of grey euro boxes and seeing your coupe...and my does it stand out and look good
the sudden rush at 3k rpm of the turbo spooling up
the look of confusion and interest as you overtake that porch

worst

never taking your eyes off the oil temp, coolant temp, oil pressure gauges
the maintenance bill each month
planning your root to avoid anything more than a 90 degree turn
looking silly when you cant turn in to a car parking space
rear visibility
ringing in late to work before you even bother going to the car if there is a frost

i can go on \:D

but i still love them

Worst: The 'little' list of small jobs that is actually about 30 items long.

Best: The look on peoples faces when either:

a: they see it for the first time.
b: they RIDE in it for the first time (and there's some duel carriageway on your route)

your right,coupes are awwsum
as for the worse things, its the same we any car, good points-bad points
my coupe is a secondry car becauase its moded and i no it will need things3,4 times more often than a normal run around.
coupes arnt meant as a work horse[so to speak]they are more or a weekend car[thats my view anyway]

Re: The best and worst things about the Coupe? - 31/01/2009 10:10

Au contraire, Jim, I put as a best point that everyday usability is one of the good points. With a standard clutch, it's driveable in commuter traffic, and economical if you choose to drive it as such. Visibility for parking is not a good point, mine regularly has three mates in the back seat and a pushchair in the boot, two things that surprise a lot of people when I tell them, given the shape of the car. But then, yes, anything modded is going to need some extra care given that componenets are put to more strain.

Best: Looks so special, not many cars look as good as a Coop, even today. Sound of 20V is so damn good I never grow tired of it. Mines been the most reliable fault free car I've ever owned.

Worst: Handbrake useless and wish the steering on the 20V NA was a little sharper. The feeling I really need 2 Coupes - one for everyday and a minter in the garage.

LOL - you like living dangerously dont ya?

I admit that I am rubbish at parking (not because I'm a woman - am just rubbish) but the coop makes it about 10 times worse sometimes!

Firstly you have to find a spot in the car park where you are going to feel it safe to leave the coop. Next to 4x4's or any car with a child seat / childs toy in the back is a huge no no.
Then you have to get it in the space. If you're going in forward then the turning circle is so bad it makes you look like a reet idiot when you can't swing it in in one go. If you're going in backwards you may as well go in blindfolded for all the good the mirrors and rear quarter visibility is going to do you.
Then you have to worry about it all the time you're away from it!
Parking at kerbs is also touch and go if you've got skirts / are lowered. Oh yeah and multi story car parks? FORGET IT!! Mine won't even get up the incline!!!

All that is forgotten though when you come back to your car in the car park (hopefully it hasn't been dinged!) and you get your key out and get in it and people notice you (I think this is even more pronounced when you are a woman - the car gets the looks not me \:D )

Re: The best and worst things about the Coupe? - 01/02/2009 12:17

i think its a fairly well proven fact that men have a more developed ability relating to spaceal awareness

runns and hids!

Re: The best and worst things about the Coupe? - 01/02/2009 12:24

rear visibility

Best: parking the car at its best angles and returning to it after a long day at work :#. Fuel cap, engine note, that 'what the fccuk is that' look from passers-by, the colour coded strip inside, the rear on a bright sunny day.

Worst: Undoubtedly, the turning circle, makes you look like a spacko lol, otherwise cant really fault it, in terms of cost apart from fuel and monthly insurance i rarely have to spend money on it apart from wear and tear items, such a reliable motor \:\) Love em

I have another one....

when some one cuts you up, or is about to....looking for the bloody horn! buy the time you have found it and pressed it....there is no point because your now at home, parked up, and just getting out of the bloody car

its the one car the misses doesn't mind following in the dark or motorway as the rear tail lights are so distinctive

Best: mega performance v's price; looks, Italian pedigree, the 'slip-diff' that got me back home at 4 a.m on A/B roads Monday morning from Gatwick Airport (scary), sound on giving it some beans from Peco 4", relative rarity. Leaving my school with some kids giving me the thumbs up and a few the finger! ha ha

Worst: freezing up of doors, locks, petrol cap lock, insurance grouping, maintenance costs v's actual residual worth.

It is what it is.
If it turned brilliantly it would be a black cab.
If it didnt freeze up, break down, cost loads to run then it would be jap.

Its italian, tempremental, fun. Makes you believe your a child again. I get up earlier to go the long way to work.

Yes it causes paranoia, and can make you look silly/mad.

But thats why we love them so much!

Re: The best and worst things about the Coupe? - 05/02/2009 05:37

my friends are jap car mad,one has evo 7 and when i got in it i was shocked to see how cheap iyt was inside, chap plastic dash was a turnoff, when im in my coupe i feel like i just got in a supercar, its style at its best.i think the coupe is=======,words cant describe how much i love my coupe.when i finish project and its about 300bhp then that will do me,i will never need to buy a car again.unless i decide to buy a 20vt or le and mod it again.
my point is some cars have speed some have style not many ghave both but the coupes does.
the genral cost of coupe isnt cheap and thats the worse, but if you do things like me and have it as a special car you only drive hen there is no traffic,no bad conditions not use it as work horse[even tho a coupe can do that for fun]take it off road first sign it needs something replacing, you cant go wrong
