Wheels - 09/06/2016 17:07

Hi guys.I have an opportunity to buy really cheap 19" wheels.I am wondering are they going to fit on the car? What tires i need to make it fit?
Right now I have 225-35-18.And they are perfect.Just wondering how it will look with 19" wheels.Anyone have any experience?

Re: Wheels - 09/06/2016 17:56

I think it will look 'over-wheeled' on 19's imo.
Tyres are an issue as ideally you would need a 215 30 19 but this size doesn't exist.
The nearest I can find is 215 35 19 which is just under an inch bigger than stock tyres.

Re: Wheels - 18/06/2016 17:57

Might be worth comparing rolling radius on those compared with the standard tyres. Any increase will affect your ride height and speedo reading.

Also the offset/ET. Changes to that will affect scrub radius. That can lead to interesting steering characteristics such as sensitivity to bumps and tramlining.

Just checked diameters...

205/50R16 = 611mm
215/30R19 = 612mm
225/35R18 = 615mm

Re: Wheels - 18/06/2016 23:58

They look nice. It is worth doing a trial fit of the wheels and checking the fronts on full lock both directions and ideally at different suspension drops before you buy tyres - that way you will know if the wheels are OK at least and should get an ideal of any problems that may crop up with tyres fitted.

Re: Wheels - 19/06/2016 00:17

I really hope they will fit without problems.ET 33,so hopefully its ok.Also i have D2 coilovers so ride height can be easily adjusted.

Re: Wheels - 26/08/2016 21:12

They are really nice and i must say, that the wheels look in proportion with the car!
I always felt the standard 16" were just a bit too small (aesthetically)

Do you get any rubbing on full lock?
Are they catching on the rear? i assume that's what you meant by "scratching"
Posted By: bojke

Re: Wheels - 26/08/2016 22:36

I fixed all catching with a little bit of work.
Now i do not have any problems.Still my car is lowered a lot with adjustable D2 coilovers.

Re: Wheels - 30/08/2016 13:15

I thought 19's would look too big for the coupe, but they do look very nice!

Re: Wheels - 30/08/2016 14:40

I am really happy with them.

Chris Bangle agrees with you - it's something he was quoted as saying in a recent magazine article. I think the 16s look OK on original coupes with black sills, but with the LE/plus kit I think the car needs bigger wheels.

Those 19s do look the business! cool

Incidentally, I was parked next to a new Jag F-Pace recently that had massive 22 inch wheels. My coupe looked like a toy car by comparison. It reminded me just how small the coupe is by modern standards.

Re: Wheels - 31/08/2016 01:03

Looks excellent. How does it feel to drive and handle?
Posted By: Possum

Re: Wheels - 31/08/2016 03:04

The wheels look great as does the garage with a pit.
Posted By: bojke

Re: Wheels - 31/08/2016 05:56

Ride comfort is not a problem to me because i had 225-35-18 before .They are almost same. Its more then ok.
Handling suffered a little bit, because the car is almost 1 cm higher then before. But this is definitely not a race setup. So when you want to go really "wild" its better to have smaller wheels.17" is i think perfect for that purpose.Tires are lot cheaper and you are closer to the ground.

Re: Wheels - 07/09/2016 17:29

Looks perfect Bojke, 19"s are just right for the car, it now looks in proportion instead of looking like a skateboard with little wheels. I've always been a fan of +2 on standard but you've pushed it out to +3 and done it nicely.

Well done.

Re: Wheels - 07/09/2016 18:18

Thanks.

Since i am a fan of big wheels i had to give it a try. smile

Re: Wheels - 16/09/2016 13:58

I think the OE 16" wheels are fine as long as the car is lowered. If not they just look lost in the abyss of a wheel arch..... rotate

Whilst we're on the subject - does anyone know of any car previous to the LE that came with factory 'darkened' Alloys?
