German beer

Far be it from me to suggest that the Germans take their beer too seriously, but after finding the website of the brewery whose product I enjoyed earlier today, I note that while they offer only thirteen different beers, they also offer fifteen types of glass to drink it from (and twenty-eight clothing products to wear while doing so).

How come the price is so cheap compared to the UK?
Lack of tax, or subsidised by the state?

I think the price is simply lack of tax. As always, it's a little cheaper in the supermarkets and more expensive in the pubs and bars.

The oldest brewery in Germany dates back to 1040 - Weihenstephan. https://www.holidaycityeurope.com/10-oldest-breweries-in-germany.html Grevensteiner is brewed by Veltin's, only a couple of hundred years old.
