It looks like SpaItalia 2010 will be held on the weekend of 19th and 20th June judging by this Alfa Romeo centenary event promoted by the SpaItalia organisers.

Following the sucess of the visit to this years event, the club plans to organise a trip to next year's SpaItalia.

How much would you need to budget for this? Obviously people spend different amounts, but a rough idea would be good!

If you can book ahead, the ferry should cost around £50-£60 return, there will be about 250-300 miles each way to get there from the ferry ports so say £120 fuel.

Entry to the circuit for the weekend was 55 euros this year,prices of other track sessions are in the 2009 thread, I expect them to be much the same next year.
Coupes do burn a lot of fuel when hammering round the track. (ask MattM)

Accomodation will vary, we will be looking at finding both hotel accomodation and camping possibilities to give a choice of costs.

This year, staying in a 4 star hotel for 2 nights, I expect I spent around £350 all in door to door, but I didn't really keep that close a check on costs, perhaps others did.

I didn't really keep much of a check either, but i did work out that i was using £75 an hour in fuel when on track!!
I did 2 Scuderia sessions at £120 each, for an hour each, and 2 Coupe only sessions at £55 each, for half an hour each.
So you've got £350 worth of track time, plus fuel for the track time.
It isn't cheap, but its defintily worth it.
Plus you can pay for things like ferry and hotel months before so it spreads the cost nicely

I burnt 180 litres of fuel in my car which is loads but then i was on track a lot and not hanging about.

As above plan early and spread the costs it's a fantastic weekend for anyone who loves cars.

Listen matt i will even endaevour to learn an instrument if your dad plays some more for us. That was one of the best nights on the beer i've had in years.

Couldn't miss our annual trip to Spa. Not only do we get to meet up with lots of jolly nice French & Dutch peoples, we also get to see some fantastic Italian cars out and about on one of the best tracks in the world

Really looking forward to seeing this band perform, Matts Dad on Piano, Jurgen on Guitar, Joe on recorder and Marco on Drums. I'll make the Video

I just wonder what Jullio will do to shock us all next year, they were great card tricks

is there a special "grandad" lane....

for me it would also be the social aspects, the drive down and back would be amazing i expect in a convoy of sorts.

i assume things like recovery from europe are done through the aa or rac cover? not that i'm pessimistic but hey, this is a coop...

I always try to spend a few extra days over there before and after, midweek ferries are normally cheaper and less busy too

Ferries, as soon as you like, currently you can get return tickets Dover/Dunkirk for less than £50.00 return with Norfolk Line.

Hotels, we won't have anything firmed up until early next year.

Imho the 8am ferry is better as you miss the Friday afternoon traffic on the Brussels Ring. That's the one I shall use.

Coming back the 8pm one works out fine.

Note: today there was a court ruling that the Spa-Francorchamps track can, until further notice, not be used. And that means: not be used - period. No F1, no track days, no car-events, no car tests by magazines, nothing - nada.

This is because two years ago there has been a complaint about noise levels by some 'neighbours'. During the last two years however, there have been no complaints whatsoever, possible because of the extensive work done by the owners to keep noise levels down. Officially, the permit that has been given to the circuit to be commercialised until 2026 and to allow the changes that were made since two years ago, has been ruled as seriously lacking depth and having a lot of lacunas. Because it cannot garantee no irrepairable damage is done to the environment, the permit has been suspended.

Time will tell how this will be going forward - but knowing court proceedings in Belgium... this might mean a disaster for the events planned there and possibly the track going bust.

i've voted in all three categories, but with regard to accomodation i'm happy to go to whichever hotel the vast majority chooses - cost dependant of course!

some clarification for a track newbie, if you will - what is involved in the coupe only sessions, ie limited laps/limited speeds/a degree of choice? how long are the sessions? what costs per session are we looking at, do we know yet?

whilst i want to fully enjoy this weekend i have to bear in mind that the following weekend i go away for a week with the lads playing golf, and so costs around that time are fairly important as the golf will cost me in excess of £1k!

Yups - hotel doesn't matter really. But camping: preferably not. Needs to have a nice bar. And whiskey.

About the track case:
Yes, in fact I have released my news before the result of the meeting last night was made public. In which is stated that there is currently a very positive communication between the owners of the track and the people that originally opposed to it, stating there are no problems at this time. However, currently the permit has been withdrawn and there needs to be a new one made up.

i find it ridiculous to belive that local people to spa would complain about the noise, the track has been there for years, and surely brings in a massive amount of income to the local area.

no doubt some tree huggers with nothing better to do than annoy the rest of the world.

The B&B we stayed at this year was first class and nearer to the track than the hotel that you all stayed at.And cheaper.There are two problems though,no bar and only about 4 or 5 bedrooms.The town is very close though with some good pubs.I may bring the coop on a trailor next year though,if that happens i may put the double bed in my van and camp at the circuit.I saw quite a few vans and campers there.And the town is just down the road.And that would mean alot of money saved.

I'll be there next year but as a spectator for once ! and not even as a organisator.

If you are interested i can give you the address of this year's hotel ! it was a great hotel with a pool, sauna, bar etc for a great price !!

let me know if you are interested. I'm sure you won't find cheaper and better than this year (remember las year's hotel RACING FRANCORCHAMPS, it was a freak !!)

We have dug up the address of this year's hotel plus we have leads on several others. It is safe to say that we won't be choosing the Racing Hotel at Francorchamps.

I will be attending this event in 2010 as well!

I was there last year, but didn't really speak to anyone from the forum. (i had the coupe for just a week or 2 then). I would love to drive it on the track, but just for once to get the thrills. Last year i seen the grande parade, but that was little too crowded for me! Funny the pace cars didnt really function well tho

I pop over to Europe every year and I used to pay the AA for the weekend trip cover on top of the yearly AA cover.

A few years ago someone told me about the ADAC so I joined them alonside the AA. They cover you for ALL of Europe for a whole year, so you are covered in the UK too.

Never had to use them in Europe but the Mrs used them when the battery went on the Alfa, they sent out the AA

I will be joining ADAC next year in parallel with the AA as I get cover both with the bank and for another year with the Grande Punto.

This year I have European cover for the coupe with Europ Assistance which came free with my sat nav.

The insurance cover i have now(French) covers the coupe all risk plus breakdown/recovery in all europe.370euros with AXA france.I thought it to be a good deal.

I stayed at my old mans house and Mike stayed at his sister's.
My Dad lives in Highgate - North London and Mikes sister is only 5 miles from there, so anywhere around Highgate would be a good bet

Well... I've just subscribed to the SpaItalia - Milano trip that the Belgian club organises. But... we chose NOT to go for the 'Gold' package that includes the SpaItalia event with a gala diner on saturday. Instead, we'll be joining the Club and enjoy some drunk Brits again on the friday and saturday. Included in our order is a package for the Milano stay, which will take us on a 4-night stay in Milan to enjoy the centenary festivities for Alfa.

Oooooh so looking forward to this!

ok well the ferry is booked for me, at the vast cost of £74!!!

you should be able to get it for around £49, but whilst toggling with other stuff i managed to book the wrong dates and have had to pay £25 surcharge to change it to the right weekend...

the winchester hotel i rang to book earlier, they're not taking bookings for next year yet.....

There appears to always be someone there who speaks English, Dutch and French

I have tried several other places but anywhere that offers similar facilities to this place is much more expensive

Another advantage in having the Hotel taking the bookings is that we should be able to appeal to members all over Europe

i expect you're as close to hull as dover, maybe nearer? afaik sedici, mcmike and me are going from dover so are linking up for a beer on the thursday evening somewhere, ferrying at 8am to convoy through belgium - sparco is going from hull i believe so you have choices....

The best road to Spa is the quickest: E17 all the way to Antwerp, then E313 to Lummen, then follow GPS to malmedy / spa / wherever the hotel is. There are no nice roads unless you fancy a detour that will take you 2 days to get there.

still fancy the winchester myself, as mcmike and matt will be staying quite close by = easier for beers and convoy next morning - if not i'm sure we'll find somewhere close.

We have now signed the contract and paid a significant deposit for admission of 30 coupes and the hire of the Spa-Francorchamps circuit for 2 half hour sessions, Saturday 5:00 -5:30 pm and Sunday 9:30 - 10:00 am.

We can now start taking formal bookings and deposits.

The price will be £100 / 100 euros with a £35 / 35 euros deposit paid as soon as possible.

On the 2009 advance circuit admission price of 55 euros, this means that it will cost around 45 euros for 1 hour track time over the 2 days.
The 2009 price for an hour of unrestricted time was over 100 euros.

As mentioned we are restricted to 30 coupes in total, so it is a matter of first come, first served.
We will only be accepting bookings from users of this forum until November 25th, after which it will be publicised elsewhere.

As we have to pay the SpaItalia organisers in euros, I have made the initial calculations for those wishing to pay in sterling on the basis of £1 = 1 euro, if this proves unduly pessimistic the final sterling balance to be paid will be adjusted.

some of us intend to meet in london on the thursday night the 17th June. you're welcome to come (as you owe me a pint) and we're going to book the ferry for 8am 18th june, coming back 20th june at 20.01, so 2 days in the hotel in belgium - can't remember the price of that off hand, but you could either camp or look at the link barmybob put up. as for running at spa, no idea- depends how much track time you want - i'm budgetting about £600 so far for the entire weekend, but will have back-up funds/cards should i need them.

edit: petep: last year i wasnt allowed to get close in the pits to make pictures of cars coming up the straight end. Would it be possible to arrange this with the organisation? As member of the fccuk club? Would be great to have pics of everyones coupe at spa.

Martijn, it may be possible to take photos from by the garages on the pit straight when the coupes are setting off, but I very much doubt whether it will be possible to stand on the raised area right next to the race track. They certainly would not allow it last year.

It is a matter of safety, and the trackside marshalls' word is law. Speaking to the organisers will not achieve anything.

There are other ares on the track where you can stand at track level and close to the cars, the chicane before Rivage for example. It is a bit of a walk!

No-ones been sick yet and i even had my mother out last sunday for a few no holds barred laps at Knockhill and she was fine. Mind you she's Italian and she said it was fine no problem!

Car should be a different animal next year so even i'm looking forward to it.

Just a quick update on the Hotel front.....

The place we used last year has been sold

This means that the offer they gave us for 2010 (A really good offer too) is now no longer valid. I am trying to negotiate a rate with the new owners, but it is not looking like it will be as cheap

I have today called several other BIG Hotels and asked them to also tender for our business... Please rest assured people, I am working on getting us a good deal

I have been following this thread for some time now and can no longer hide my interest.

I would like to attend, however I am between coupes at this time and am currently looking for one that is a bit special

(See my “coupes wanted” advert)

I am most certain that I will have purchased one before June next year, however it will probably be too late by then to book the ferry, join the convoy and take one of the current remaining track slots

So, depending on what actually happens next year and what is still available I will either be taking my new coupe or attempt to go to the event as a spectator.

Is there anyone who is willing to bring along a passenger?

I will of course pay my own expenses and share travelling costs.

I live in south Wales (someone has to) but am able to travel to the arranged meeting places.

The possibility of being a track passenger (ballast/map reader/camera man/nuisance!) also would be a bonus.

I've never bothered ,just keep one of those sticker kits in the car and put it on if needed. Otherwise wind the lights down to the lowest setting.

It's only dark after about 10pm that time of year.

Also I believe a fire extinguisher for driving in France. Not sure if it's yet a legal requirement, but worth carrying anway. First aid kit if you stray into Germany.

High vis jacket must be carried inside the car, not in the boot.

Try some of those sea sickness tables Phil, unsure if they work as I don't normally suffer myself but worth it if it makes it a little more comfortable.

To confirm what's bee mentioned above (steep fine for not having them!) :

REFLECTIVE JACKETS & WARNING TRIANGLES IN FRANCE

The French Road Safety Department has confirmed that:

From 1st October 2008 all drivers in France, including drivers of vehicles registered outside of France, must have one warning triangle and one reflective jacket in their vehicle.

This regulation, which we understand does not apply to two and three wheeled vehicles, will be enforced with on-the-spot fines of between €90 and €135.

Starting to get complicated for my tiny, worn-out brain, and it seems as though the car's going to be full of flippin' safety gear!

As Pete said before.The reflective jacket needs to be in the car not the boot.2 are advisable.Dont forget the spare bulb set.
Its also a good idea to carry insurance documents,mot cert,Log book.
As my coupe is French registered i have to have these with me .

Not many good deals about on the tunnel at the moment,it's even worse if you have to get it because the ferries are not running.

You are going all that way and then missing Turin? One night in the Lingotto hotel is a must do for any Fiat fan like yourself. The St Bernard pass is a fantastic route over the Alps too

On our last trip we stayed in Austria near Zell am See and then made out way through Italy (Via the lakes, Milan & Turin) to Switzerland. I would say that the most impresive Alpine scenery is in Switzerland, with the southern part of the Alps being the most impressive. The Matterhorn is stunning.

Be aware that the Swiss & Austrian motorways require you to have motorway passes. These are quite expensive, unless you plan to spend a lot of time on them.

A popular route is via the Milau bridge (Tallest Bridge in the World) and Monaco, but this is a mile hungry route.

When in Germany Heidelberg is a nice place to stop. It's a scenic old German town and because it has an American Army base close by, the town is really English speaking friendly. Most restaurants even have English menus

There is no insurance,infact we all sign a disclaimer form when we book in for the track sessions.
The best thing to do is make sure your car is in good order for the track.Look at the track preparation thread on the trackday section on this forum.
I was very aware of being a newbie last year.But it was fine,do the speed that you feel safe at,watch how the others take their corners,and USE your mirrors.And the best bit is to jump in with Sparco,it will give you lots of confidance,after seeing what his car can do.

I have a feeling I'm going to be the slowest on the track (with only a mere 20v NA) and with the highest mileage! Oh well, hopefully I won't be the only 20V on there?!

2 ways of looking at it, I can change the car to a turbo (so will pay out the difference of what mine sells for and what I can buy a 20VT for) and then do up for the track **OR** set about track prepping my NA.

Bizaarly, the latter option sounds best not only from a cost point of view but safety (I know the car). I'm new to track driving so won't be hammering round corners as it is anyway. If I can't go fast, I'm less likely to crash fast

I take it my 20V will be ok to be going around with the turbos running riot around me? (promise I'll stay out everyone's way)

For those worried about taking your car out on track, why not simply book yourself into one of the grand parades? This is a speed limited session (you're not allowed to overtake the pace car) but still a great experience. Plus you get to drive with all sorts of other mouth-watering Italian exotics - I was playing with a Lamborghini Miura and a Ferrari Testarossa last year. Just a thought

There was a poll done a while ago. the conclusion was that most people wanted to stay in a decent hotel, so that is what we are most actively working on.

Having said that, there is no reason why those who wish to camp should not do so, however our priority is sorting out the hotel first.

It is worth remembering that the weather at Spa is highly unpredictable, even in mid June.

The fuel prices are higher on the continent, largly due to the weakness of the pound.

Luxemberg is the cheapest country for fuel if you are going near it, but probably not worth much of a detour.

We are looking to book 1 hotel with possibly a camp site as well, the numbers should not be a problem.

Without trying to confuse things.I hope to be camping at the circuit,i am sure i saw an area where vans and campers where parked up.(although i have found nothing about that on the Spa website.)
If a campsite is found i would be up for that.I will also do a search for one as i know where the hotel is.
Gill & i stayed at a very good b&b last year.(and may yet stay there next year).It will depend if i trailor the coupe up to Spa.
I can give the number of the b&b if anyone wants it.It was very good.But staying at the same place is fun.I was lucky as Gill drove on the Saturday night,so we had a meal with everyone on the Saturday night.

Not wishing to slag off Belgian Hotels, but they can often be really poor when compared to similarly priced UK hotels

If we look for cheaper Hotels then we move into really basic accomodation. The Racing Hotel in Franconchamps was cheap but it was like staying in some 1970's boarding house. We were lucky in that there was a bathroom with our room, many others had to que up for the shared shower and toilet facilities!

Ok.For me i will be camping at Eau rouge,if not there, anywhere ,as i will have my bed in the van.
I have the address of the place we stayed last year.As i said before it only has 5 double rooms,but was excellent and cheap,with a great breakfast but no evening meal.
That did not matter to us as we ate with everyone else on the Saturday night.I am happy to help in some way if needed.
I still think i my be able to camp at the Spa track.But its a question of toilets at night and in the morning.
Campsite is prefered.

You can rent a caravan there which will carry a max of 5 persons. Costs are 60 euro a night (so 12 pp if you go with four or 30 if you go with two) One car included, extra car is 3,50 a night and it doesnt include any food.

Actually renting a caravan isn't a bad idea. Means you can park outside, clean your car etc quite easily without looking odd doing it in a hotel car park

Caravan sounds good to me,at least will have a proper base then aswell.120 euro for both nights is good for me.
Split between me and a buddy,60 euro's each for accomodation and safer keeping for personal items.

I think it is a great possibility.

I have just looked at the link that magooagain gave us.
There is almost nothing shown in English, but if you switch to French you will get more details even though some pages are in Flemish.

My Dutch/Flemish is almost non-existent, but it seems to me that there are only 4 caravans available to rent.

It is not by the Eau Rouge corner of the circuit, rather it is on the stream which gives the corner its name.

Theresa, you dont need a spectator ticket as the participant ticket covers the coupe, driver and one passenger, so you just roll up in Proccy's coupe.

Some weeks ago Peter requested our Booking forms, final payments and payments for any other track sessions you may like to purchase. Thus far Peter has received only a tiny handfull of forms and payments, indeed I too have not yet complied with his request

This is the booking form that we need to complete:

If you are only participating in the Club sessions they you just need to fill out your details and pay the balance.

If you would like Peter (The Club) to pre-book other sessions then you need to add the price of these sessions to your total.

B) Book you any additional sessions.
C) Send you your tickets.

The club booking deadline is the 10th April!

What speed are likly to be achieved at spa with a standard 20vt?Ive checked my tyres and rating is to 130 which is fine for me here but obviously at the track if im easily going to get near this i will be looking at fresh tyres.

its horrible to face but for me it will be a tight tight fund and i will be worrying more about money then the trip!

i will have to spend a lot on my car (£600+ mapping) before going then pay for the trip, hotel, petrol, food ect it all adds up to well over 1k's worth of funding in a short space of time.

god i wish i was going... but hey there is always next year..

I won’t be taking any track day insurance either. For me driving Spa is more about the experience rather than out and out gunning it.

Generally the Spa circuit has huge run off areas, though there is one area that hasn't. It should be noted that this area did claim a Coupé scalp last year

Had some bad news from Flea today.Its been a week of trying to get mine to boost properly,but with no luck.
Unfortunately it has now lost the oil pressure and i dont think i will have the time to replace the crank for this event.

yep.The crank was always suspect from day 1,but we both agreed that its not worth pushing it in case it causes other issues.
The workshops booked solid for nearly 13 weeks now,and this will take 3 days to do.
Time which i don't have and i have worked up to 15 hour days for nearly 4 months now.
So I'm not prepared to sacrifice anymore home time for this car.

Per, you already have half an hour coupe only track time on Sunday with the ticket you got from the club.

If you want to join in the 1 hour Scuderia sesions on Sunday, it is too late to do it through the club, so you will have to sort it out directly with the SpaItalia secretariat on track. It will cost you 140€ per session.

Yes, you can take a passenger, it covers the car,driver and passenger for the weekend including track time.

I can send you the ticket or pass it to you at the hotel in Spa on Friday evening, the choice is yours.
Fill in the form http://www.fiatcoupeclub.org/documents/SpaiItalia_2010_Booking_Form.doc send the club bank 100€ and the ticket is yours.

How come it costs everyone in europe 100euro but it costs us pounds-that works out about £15 difference? Is it just exchange rates and stuff?

Well it all depends on when the tickets were purchased. The £ - Euro rate has been all over the place this year, at times almost down to a 1:1 ratio

When we initially planned SPA 2010 exchange rates were good but were falling fast, so a safety net was built in. Rest assured Matt, the club is not looking to make money off the UK participants

i'm almost ready apart from an air-conditioning pipe being fitted at motormech saturday, mapping at flea's 12th june and detailing at joe's by patch 13th (assuming the car doesn't blow up AGAIN at flea's)

i'm taking about £500 but will have cards available should they be needed

Just a quick question for everyone - do you reckon my 3 year old brake pads and discs will be ok for the weekend taking into account the tracktime? There still appears to be plenty of life in them.

I was going to get involved with the groupbuys for EBC pads and discs but was planning on waiting a month or two (it's been a tough month with tax, service and MOT

I went to 5+ places including the post office and was advised if I wanted to change money using a current account and debit card, it was going to cost me

Im looking for info on-line but can find none, Maybe its different online, but on the highstreet I promise you will be changed with a debit card

Correct!

We'll arrive sunday evening for a dinner at Pistelklause around 8pm. Then it's tracktime all evenings Mon-Thur from 5pm.

We should meet up for a after-ring-beer etc!

Thank you Pete and the rest of the team for organising this, a truly excellent weekend.

What a great experience the whole thing was, meeting loads of people on here for the first time too. Most of whom are nutters, but in a good way of course

Just brilliant.

To the guys that missed this, start saving now for next year. It'll be amongst the best few hundred euros you'll ever spend

A massive thanks to the organisers, this was an event really worth attending.

Pretty miserable weekend for me unfortunately - i managed 3 hot laps in my car before it boiled it's coolant.

Luckily there were some superb mechanics along with us who diagnosed a possible sticking closed thermostat. We removed the stat and smashed a hole through the middle so it remained permanently open.

Next lap out with senny dave my coolant temps hit 147 degrees!

Looks like i have a head gasket failure.

Absolutely gutted after all the work i'd put in to get the car ready, and the 3 laps i did do, it was superb. Handled like a dream and went past 4 or 5 ferrari's like they were stood still.

It's been a bit of a crap year for me with this car, there is a strong chance this will be the end of it.

Other then the car issue i had a fantastic time. Great meeting everybody and drinking loads of booze.

A big thanks to JBT and senny dave for helping me with the car issues.

No we went the right way. I had to stop at my dad's in london to swap cars. John took my car up to his garage and put it in my parking space. I got home around 230am. Kept having to stop for redbull though! What about you?

Was absolutely flagging mate,got in at about 2 am.

I have to say Red Bull doesn't quite give you wings, but it certainly keeps you from drifting into the inside lane

1000 miles, plenty of beer, not enough asleep... what a cracking long weekend. It was a bit of a busman's holiday, and I even managed to exercise my French parlance, which after 16 years is just about alive and kicking, albeit lacking in technical detail

The track is quite simply awesome, supremely technical, ridiculously fast and the opposite of flat

At 4.3 miles and speeds of 150mph it is big test of the car and indeed the driver. Unfortunately a misfire appeared at high boost so I was restricted to 1.3bar (circa 400-410bhp), more than enough to chase down a few Ferraris and Lambos

I have to say the brakes were found a little wanting in terms of outright stopping power given the speeds, I blame Fiat! Of course, other than the obligatory wheel falling off, these things happen, thankfully not when going through Eau Rouge

I have a bit of video, in typical fashion the best session with Porkypaul didn't record 150mph through Blanchimont with the back end stepping out

Still, managed to out drag a 360 when coming out level from the Bus Stop into La Source

Brilliant weekend, what a great bunch we are

Thought I would pop on quickly to say hello before I hit the sack.

I really enjoyed this weekend. The weather was rubbish as we know but it didn't deter from the whole experience. Plenty of petrol and rubber still managed to get burnt and I was lucky enough to get a good few passenger rides with some fast cars.

Great to meet everybody spesh rubin, adam, nick, jonny, martin, sam, joe, marco to name a few.

I'll be along next year but as to whether dad is going to be able to persuade me to change over to a coop is anyone's guess!

What a fantastic weekend

- the company / banter / driving was top quality. Unfortunately mid-way through the Coupe session on Sunday I lost all my gears

and was towed back to the Coupe area by a truck (at 60 mph !). My gear selector had broken.

A massive thanks to John JBT who fixed my car, to Taffy who let me have his short shift, and to Matt M for his tools, and eveyone else who was generally supportive. You guys are top.

Big thanks to Theresa for helping me with tyre changeovers / maintenance, drinking beer, etc etc. Gutted for you MattM ref your car, I hope you get something sorted out. And a big thanks to Pete and the rest of the Club team who organised this excellent event.

Great weekend,
feeling it today though,got in late this morning and i was up again at 8.
Great bunch of lads,and certainly an experience,.

Thanks to Insy,Flea and Mattm who took pity on me and gave me a few laps of the circuit.
And thanks to Reuben,Mattm and Mcmike for the lift there and back,.
Jo(magoo) for the great wine and entertainment,and to the others who put up with my drunken ramblings till gone 2am.

Matt i have had to put your car on my drive next to Pinins car as im having a dead coupe overload at the minute.
And mines taken your space.

Was great putting so many names to faces.

See you next year.

His family firm in fact.

A quick check shows that we had coupe enthusiasts and their cars from at least 8 countries, Australia, Belgium, France, Greece, Luxemberg, Netherlands, Switzerland and United Kingdom.

To the guys from the camp site who stood during the bbq in the grass or anyone else who walked in the tall grass, check for ticks (harvest bug?) i had one on my leg who was pretty large, doctor had to remove it by cutting and now have to take antibiotics for the Lhyme disease. Those bugs start very small but mine had become quite large actually.

The campsite was very well located - 1st left out of the circuit. My satnav took me down the little lane where it is on my way back home. Grounded out a few times, it really is a tiny lane.

I spent ages typing a message only for me to lose my wi-fi, so-

The weekend was awesome - thanks to all those who organized it! was great to meet so many old and new faces! I've pretty much convinced jonny to buy a coupe for next year - making sure it's a non-sunroof model!

We arrived in Davos (Switzerland) this evening after an epic 7.5 hour drive from nurburg! Roll on Monaco tomorrow!

I'm a definite for next year - as long as some more people come down to the nurburgring after to join me and Per! It was awesome - a TOTALLY different animal to Spa....... And maybe a little bit more fun!! Video to follow!

Will upload photos etc next week!

We are home at last.
We returned home me and my wife this morning 09:25 after of total 3533 km

and around 1700€ out of my pocket.

I wanted to say thanks to all of you for everything and i hope we meet again next year

because it worth every cent.

Yeah i know but i had to drive to Stuttgart and there was a lot of traffic on the road because it was Sunday and everybody was returning home.

Anyway i was around 20:30 at the hotel.

I just like to thank everyone from here for my day at Spa, what a nice bunch!

The laps with Marco especially was something else.. My own laps weren't as successful, sliding around and with pads not fully run in as it were.. Me, Nick and the FiatForum people (hilarous bunch) also went to The Ring which was really great. 3 nights without any serious hickups! BTG time 8.38 at best. Will post pics when I'm back home!

Hiya! Just got home.

We included a drive to Milan to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Alfa. Fantastic drive, without highways on the way there. We had wine degustation and dinner at the Schlumpf museum in Mulhouse AMIDST the cars, we drove some awesome mountain passes at 10/10ths (crazy, chasing and being chased by by some ex-racing drivers), ate on the Genova lake on a boat we hired for the group, went to Monza (no track time as we were there one day before the Alfa Germany and Holland sessions), saw one of the 8C's that were with us return from a trip with accident damage (awch...), experience the total lack of insight into the organisation of a 3.500-car carpark and 5.000 people lunch (Italians!),... then we went back trough the Stelvio (which I think is highly overrated, although the views are quite stunning, it also cost us some paint from the passenger mirror when we made an emergency stop for a bus coming round a bend at full pelt and a bicycle tourist decide rightfully that riding into our mirror was a better option than driving off a 97° cliff - which he gently pointed out in Italian after I started making a fuzz about the little tickle of paint that was removed), had a good run through Austria and Germany (wooosh).

Also found out that thinking you're safe with a radar detector can turn out differently when you realise that the radar is quite cryptic in pointing out there is an AVERAGE speed camera system rather than a simple speed trap... So we're saving up in case Italy decides to send an international letter and the Belgian post decides to forward it.

Anyway - we had a fantastic week which all started with a fantastic weekend. The Brera was superb and turned out to be a great compagnion on Spa and for the drive to Italy.

Jurgen - can you forward the video of me and Pete racing the Pace car?
