Fiat Coupe Club UK
Brands Hatch 11th December.
MrsCC and I are booked up to go to Brands for the 11th December so that we can finish the year off by testing her 2.4 VIS. The car ran really well at Spa but since then its been remapped and played with a little more so the Indy circuit should be great fun if the brakes hold this time... well unless its snowing that is of course
I've also convinced my Brother and my new spanner man Dan to come along for some fun, Dan's is a pretty much standard MkII MR2 turbo running about 220bhp so I'm looking forward to having a go in this twitchy rwd
If anyone else fancies coming along to watch they'll be hot soup and fresh bread on the day, we've reserved a pit garage to try and keep out of the December weather but there should be plenty of people to chat to along with passenger rides so bring a crash helmet if you've got one.
If you fancy booking it yourself the link is below, it's £110.00 for the day so as long as the weather holds it should be a giggle.
Brands Hatch 11th dec. 1. CC & Jake
2. MrsCC
3. Knight7660 + Mrs.

I've been watching Dan's thread on MR2OC about our Brands meet and I'd like to think that after the day the Mr2 boys will be re-think their attitude about Coupes once we've shown them our tail lights.
At the mopment they're bantering about us blowing head gaskets and burnt wiring looms ( Yes Reuben I know it's true in your case
) but again it goes to show that the general petrolhead just doesn't know how good the Fiat coupe can be on and off track.
Looking forward to teaching these Rice burners a lesson

Sounds good Joe
Brands is a great track ... and I'd love to come along ... but the 180 mile (one way!) journey in the Westie puts me off a little!
Hopefully I'll get down there next year ... once I have a trailer
Have a cracking day

Yes 180 miles in an open top would put me off as well Dave, I love driving but I prefer to be warm while doing it, lol

just wear the right stuff and you wont be cold at all. with some of the cold weather stuff ive got you'd be sweating all the way there

Re: Brands Hatch 11th December. - 23/11/2011 11:00
It's not just the cold ... it's the noise (engine/ induction/ aeroscreen), harsh ride (track tuned!) and relative vehicle size (compared to Polish lorry wheels on the M6)!

I've driven 120 miles at -12c in my Indy with no windscreen. You can keep yourself warm, but the only thing that you can't protect against is your feet. In kit cars you can't wear thick bike boots, so you just have to rely on x pairs of socks. It gets very cold
The MR2s won't know what's hit them
No disrespect to them, but in my experience on track, they are an average car in terms of outright speed.

Mart - if it snows, rains, typhoons or tsunamis, and the day is cancelled, you'll be able to transfer the trackday over to another event free of charge, and probably get a discount on booking any others.
If the day is partially lost to bad weather, i.e a late start, they are not obliged to give any credit towards any other day.
That's usually how it works (and has for me in the past with Easytrack). Let's see what Joe confirms when he talks to them tomorrow

It's not the easiest forum to find info, I ended up doing a search and found it under the regional section.
One thing I found strange was they're very sure their cars will beat a Coupe, we'll just have to see won't we

Re: Brands Hatch 11th December. - 24/11/2011 11:32
That's a shame, still pretty good price for Brands, especially with the FCCUK discount.
Well, good and bad news for me. I won't be driving at Brands sadly
, the reason being is I'm enrolling in an instructor course.
I have been waiting for a couple of years to even find a circuit running a course so I have to go for it, and £400 before Christmas will stretch the budget. I'm disapointed as I've told so many people about this day and had various friends and colleagues coming along.
Sorry

I second this, no point having 400 horses under your bonnet if you're going to keep them locked down to road use, let them run free and feel the wind in their vents, they'll need the exercise before the long winter nights fully draw in otherwise they'll put on weight and be slow and lethargic in the spring

Hovedan are you coming along?
Alas it's not looking likely to make this one now Joe. The family's Xmas present list is eating into my essential maintenance fund for the bits and pieces the car needs before doing another day

Don't worry, there won't be any snow in Kent. It's getting warmer tomorrow!
Is anyone interested in the following? I could bring along to Brands if so:
Framed yellow Fiat Coupe 16v poster (wooden frame + glass which was made especially to fit the poster in)
Coolant tank
Coupe bike rack
Coolant pipes (the 2 with the bleed valve along it)
Arm-rest

Re: Brands Hatch 11th December. - 11/12/2011 18:45
Very good day with pretty much the coupes dominating everything bar the Ginetta, btcc seat cupra and a fully track prepped Renault Clio this was many due to slippery track condition at the start.
So a big thanks to mr CC and mrs CC for the track time in the coupes and the free fuel
It was also good to see some new faces and reconise so old ones aswell.
Pictures to follow

Re: Brands Hatch 11th December. - 11/12/2011 19:51
It was bloody cold but well worth it even only to watch the Coupes in action.
That Seat Coupra was quick!
It was good to meet up and chat to you guys. Can't wait to track my 16VT

Re: Brands Hatch 11th December. - 11/12/2011 20:24
I'll second how cold it was!
I think that was my first time seeing Coupes on track. They were flying and made me regret never having taken one my previous ones out.
Loved the sound of the AC Cobra replica, so went and chatted to the owner....it has a 8.1 litre engine! He saved for 4 years to get the 35k it cost, then built it himself.
Also found the owner of the red stripped out 306 Rally. He was overtaking most things in the session I watched. Had a look round his car with him, completely stripped out, engine work and running touring car tyres and trick custom suspension.
Posted By: knight7660
Re: Brands Hatch 11th December. - 11/12/2011 20:55
The 306 wasn't that fast but the driving skill and the knowledge of his set up was very high. I had some good tussles with him in mrs CC 2.4 vis along with the grey Evo I was chasing at the same time mrs CC managed to a passenger ride in
But the session of the day has got to be driving mr CC's plus and chasing the full track spec Clio and not doing to bad if I do say so myself
Posted By: knight7660
Re: Brands Hatch 11th December. - 11/12/2011 20:58
And yes it was abit cold but the fresh bread and soup sorted me out for the day let alone the constant brews on the go supplied by FCSS

Re: Brands Hatch 11th December. - 11/12/2011 22:50
Just got back and I'm now enjoying an Ale in my local, many thanks to all who attended, it was cold, wet but loads of fun.
Highlights for me were:
4 wheel drifting around Paddock bill bend, several times
Chasing down and beating most of the RWD cars, including the MR2's
Pushing the 2.4 with the carbotech pads and still having shorter braking distances if my bottle had allowed with it being so wet.
Spinning Dan's MR2 and being told his car was then banned for the rest of the afternoon session, sorry mate
hope you enjoyed the stint driving my Plus
But the best has to go to my wonderful wife, not only did she dump her 2.4 in the kitty litter, but she did this backwards after loosing it at the top of Paddock hill bend and spun it twice in fine style before coming to rest arse deep in gravel, the marshals were so impressed they took her driver wrist band off her but gave it back after lunch and hour later.
Well done
It was an excellent day

Posted By: Countrycruising
Re: Brands Hatch 11th December. - 12/12/2011 12:33
MrsCC's has suffered gravel rash but she wants it left and not repaired so it's now a battle scar
not sure there's a video but there is one of me spinning in the MR2 with a mental F1 180 degrees spin to put it facing the right way that nearly went very wrong

There was a chap there with a standard Red 20vt that was trailered in for the day, he didn't tell me his name but he's not on any of the forums and just uses the Coupe as a toy even though it's road legal, he was doing really well no no major mishaps.
