Surrey Rolling Road ? - 13/04/2012 16:13

Alright people bin discussing it with a few mates and have around 5 people that would like to rr there cars.
I was wondering if anyone would be up for it and planning a date so i could call them to try discuss a discount.
I have attended group events there before and paid £30 a run and would be nice if we could get that again.

Bossycoupe ( Fiat coupe 20vt ) definitely asap smile
Jay ( Banana coupe 20vt )
Shaine ( edition 30 golf )

I'd be up for it as well, but I think you will be looking at £35 - £40 per car

Stay away from Charlie's dyno unless you want to be sorely disappointed in your power figures for the day. Lol.

Ha, it is known as the heartbreaker! I would probably only come to watch as I think my clutch is starting to slip.
But one day I think we should organise a day at those industry standard dynos, can't remember the name now. Biggenz, you know what they are called, raha or something. I think there is one near Gatwick...

I hear there pretty true to there results sick
I took my previous clio williams there and that made 152.1 with exhaust decat and heatsoaking induction and the valvers were making close to there apparent power.
which dyno would you say then ?

Re: Surrey Rolling Road ? - 17/04/2012 20:26

When would it be? If it's next month i should have my 155 with 20vt in it.
If in june i should have a 155 with 2.4 jtd 10v engine in it.

Re: Surrey Rolling Road ? - 19/04/2012 10:13

its a dyno dynamics dyno, despite being mapped by flea I have only ever taken my car there so I have a back to back comparison of the mods i have done.
Charlie will tell you that his is more accurate and others over read.....who knows?

p.s I would expect to pay £40.

Surrey rolling road's not for pub figure willy waving, that's for sure, but seems to have a good reputation (perhaps because of that?). I've had my E36 M3 Evo and my Cerbera 4.5 on there, and it's a good set-up.

I might be up for it in the Clio 172, as I've not had that on the rollers yet.

Was it accurate with the TVR and BM?

tvr's always come up less than what tvr said they produce and thats the same with bmw .

I agree with that about TVRs generally, not BMW though - although book figures for the M3 Evo seem optimistic, it's only by 5-10bhp, and M5s for example tend to make their stock power all day long.

My Cerbera 4.5 made c.365 bhp (standard map) which seems to be on the money compared with specialist TVR dyno days on other RRs. M3 made c.290 bhp, which again is on a par with M3 Evos on other dynos - anywhere between 285 and about 305bhp is about right.

I wanted to make sure fuelling and torque curves were right, to be honest (and hear the Cerb at full chat inside a building :D) and both were fine.

In the 172 be prepared for around 155bhp to 165 if your lucky unless cammed.
And i have seen many bmw match there power if not make more.
My clio williams/hybrid made 152.1 bhp .

Thanks for that, and glad we agree on BMWs!

I can vouch for SRR's rollers. We had a number of Caterhams on there and they all made around what we'd expected (i.e. 5-10bhp less than Caterham quoted).

Any idea on date(s) and price(s)? I could lobby the PSC mob too, as I've been wanting to RR my Abarth GP SS to check the std., base tuning box setup and max. recommended tuning box setups, for comparisons and info. So, I'd be hoping for 3 separate runs, but organisational skills there (on PSC) are a bit lacking, and I've too much else to do, myself. rolleyes
