Coupé & 200SX - Sat 29th of Nov 08

Hi guys,

We're looking to organise a shoot-out again at Wallace Performance, Fiat Coupé's and Nissan 200SX's.

Last year was a success, although this time I would like to see more Coupé's here please! There's some Friendly banter as always, but it's always a good event.

Prize for the highest BHP car - they'll get their money back.

I would like to say no to this, but I feel I may have to take part at least so there are some coupes present.

Besides, I like the incredulous looks you get when you run more than 1 bar of boost.

*IF* I was to still have mine by then would be interesting to see what it would do with a different albeit still standard turbo..

Hmmm,I might be interested in this too. I`m not gonna win any BHP prizes,but it`ll give me a chance to see what difference my chargecooler makes .

you fitted your chargecooler yet baz, be interesting to see what difference it makes

Yeah,the differences this time will be :- Chargecooler,NGK Iridiums and the GM solenoid valve in place of the standard EBV. I had been running with a PRV but found it to be too much on/off with the boost and quite jerky but it`s all nice a smooth now ,just hope I get some improvement from the last time.

unfortunately i cant as i am moving house this weekend so rushed off my feet at the mo, the ebv makes the car a lot nicer to drive, i stuck a prv in line with the ebv to stop it overboosting, be good to see your results baz, hope it goes well and matt you must surely be going to get your money back for having the highest bhp lol, is there many going from the nissan club

I think i`ll watch Matty and MattB`s Coops from behind a makeshift bunker,seeing as the pair of them are dead set on destruction (as the Hüsker Dü song goes ). I`m pretty sure that Matty will be following his own advice and running a wee bit more boost .

I suspect everything will be fine, but I’ll turn the boost up a little bit anyway just in case.

I won't be running my one, unless I can get my R888's on in time - traction on the rollers is now a major issue.

Not that I want to wander wildly off track here, but cant you strap the front of the car down somewhere to give it a bit more load onto the front and therefore better traction? Either that or just get a big fatty to sit in the passenger seat?

Do we have a running order for the day? I’d expect we’ll be last again (and I notice there are a reasonable number of 200sx guys attending) – if so there’s not a great deal of sense in me arriving at the crack of dawn I don’t suppose? Unless you’re needing a hand are you?

It's alright, you'll be cutting the day short anyway to pick bits of my engine out of the walls, rollers, computer and everyone standing around watching.

Im afraid I won't be running as my new chip wont be here and there is no point getting the same result as last time I ran the car.

If i get a chance i'll pop along to see how things are going (and of course to see bits of B's engine in the walls!)

Thanks to the guys at Wallace Performance for freezing their butts off all day to run the cars (in particular thanks to Matty for not blowing my engine up).

I made 260 ish before it was running too lean and had to be aborted. An ECU reset then meant it was running ridiculously rich.

I think it was a fairly comprehensive win for th 200SX guys this time round, but nice of them to invite us along again.

Well i got back about half past 8 safe and sound . I've got some visitors round so i'll post more details later.

Thanks to Matty and the Wallace Performance crew + the 200SX guys for organising the competition .

Got some time now . I got better results this time (though probably due to the temperatures rather than any modifications I had done,it was fccukin baltic!). The Coop made 232.4 bhp and 234.1 lbft (i`ll scan my printouts later) which i`m pleased with and will do me for the time being . I was that pleased I even treated the Coop to a tankful of V-power,which is saying something for a T.A.B like me .

Had a slightly hairy moment with loss of traction in 5th gear (it looked more wet than icy but I guess it was cold enough for black ice) on the road back home when I was coming out from Dundee on the A90,so I took it easy for the rest of the journey. And to top it all off on Sunday morning my handbrake had frozen on . It`s the first time I`ve had bother with it since changing the cables a year and a half ago.

I felt sorry for poor Matty,I thought working in my garage was cold until I seen him getting blast frozen with the fan. I bet they were glad for that Skylines flaming manifold for a bit of heat .
