14th March Fiat Coupe/Alfa Romeo RR Day - Scotland

Posted By: mattB

14th March Fiat Coupe/Alfa Romeo RR Day - Scotland - 28/12/2008 17:59

I've been in discussion with the guys in the Scottish section of AROC (Alfa Romeo Owners Club) about doing a joint rolling road day at Wallace Performance, Aberdeen.

They are keen to make it happen so lets see if any coupe owners will be up for it.

Usual deal; 2 power runs with fueling check, cost will be £40 (although this might come down if we get decent numbers). Nominally looking at the weekend of 14th/15th March and probably the 14th depending on what we can book.

I'll fill in more details as they are worked out. Interested parties list their names below.

Haven't decide yet on turbo, maybe gtir, superspool, the others seem a bit more hard work and me been a lazy mofo cant be arsed \:D

I Have Evo 6 fmic & sip ready to go on.

I thought it would be ages before I could afford that, but the bank of Scotland are giving money away, just don't tell her she is evil.

What turbo you thinking about going for Andrew?

O.T.
I know but mods up here are drunk after 8pm

Re: Fiat Coupe/Alfa Romeo RR Day - Scotland - 30/01/2009 21:32

Sounds good sparky, well i thought that the GT28R might of been a good choice combination with power/spool-up. If only i had another turbo u could of hand my old GtiR ;\) (would need refurb tho)

mmmmmm GT3071R \:D wonder what kind of mods i would need for that? Is that your current turbo matty?

Yeah sorry for highjacking the thread guys

Hello all!

More invaders from the SkylineOwners.Com I'm afraid! mattb PM'd me "over there" with a kind invite for our Aberdeenshire members to join your RR day at Wallace performance in March.

This is great news because we've tried our own RRD day recently but had to cancel due to lack of numbers... despite Skylines clearly being the best cars EVER it seems that this onerous duty means that not all of them (i.e. most) are allowed to be working at the same time cry C'est la Vie!

I'll put a thread up in our Scotland section and post back here with numbers. Like some of your members a lot will depend on offshore rotas.

Thank's again!! laugh

I`ve mention this meet to Noel20VT again and he seems more confident that he`ll be able to attend this one as he`s not needed as much for Saturdays cool .

He`s quite keen to get to a RR meet but whenever one is organised he ends up having to cover for one of his pharmacies rolleyes .

We'll be kicking off around 9:30 so if people can aim to be there for that time. Those coming from the South, you can have a bit more time to make the journey up. I will be there from 9 at the latest and so will the guys at Wallace.

Re: Fiat Coupe/Alfa Romeo RR Day - Scotland - 14/03/2009 16:59

Well that`s me just got in after an interesting drive home. I had just got onto the A90 when I went to overtake a car in 5th gear when my revs shot up shocked . So that was me nursing the car home, keeping the torque to a minimum while contemplating a clutch change instead of fitting a Greddy frown . After a very long 150 miles I plucked up the courage to see how bad it was slipping and to my surprise it was fine crazy . I gave it several high loads and it never slipped once (even when it overboosted up to 1.4 BAR shocked ).

I`ve came to the conclusion that it was either a patch of diesel on the road or Sparky doing some voodoo to get the smug grin off my face wink .

Anyway thanks to Matty and the crew again, shame we missed a few of the Alfa`s (the guys seemed to fly through the cars today). Hopefully next time i`ll see a power increase instead of the other way round again too rolleyes laugh .

What power do you get these days then Matt? I are you still running 1.6bar?
Posted By: mattB

Re: Fiat Coupe/Alfa Romeo RR Day - Scotland - 14/03/2009 18:10

No, I'm well behaved now. tongue

Running a gtec1 for the minute and taken out the 3.8 bar fpr. Made 280bhp and 250lbft of torque, running about 1.35bar boost.

Re: Fiat Coupe/Alfa Romeo RR Day - Scotland - 14/03/2009 20:42

Mines still up there and is getting some work done to it, hopefully it should be on the rollers next weekend.

How much will I love the two and a half hours train journey back up there to pick it up again, but at least I know it in good hands.

Re: Fiat Coupe/Alfa Romeo RR Day - Scotland - 24/03/2009 09:52

yeah cars running well at the moment, Still need to look into a refurb for the turbo, it feels fine but i am getting a little oil out the BOV now and tiny hints of smoke at high revs (maybe the seals?) but once i get that sorted i will be up to have another go on the rollers
