Festival Italia 14th Aug 2016 and AGM - 17/02/2016 16:17

Festival Italia , Brands Hatch (Indy) , Sunday 14 August 2016 .

Brands Hatch will host a new Festival Italia event on Sunday 14 August, celebrating the emotion and beauty of one of Europe's most exciting motoring nations with themed racing, demonstrations, displays and plenty of off-track attractions.

Italy's long racing heritage will be celebrated by an exciting and diverse race programme, which will include two races for the stunning machines in the Pirelli Ferrari Formula Classic series. The Prancing Horse is the Mediterranean nation's most enduring icon, and it will be a wonderful sight to see a full field of Italian stallions galloping around the world-famous Brands Hatch Indy circuit.

Pirelli Ferrari Formula Classic will star racing examples of everything from the 308 of the '70s to modern classics such as the 355 of the '90s. There will be opportunities for spectators to get up close to these cars and soak up the event's unique atmosphere during a free pre-race grid walk.

Special cars from Italy's evocative motor racing past will star too, with a number of Grand Prix cars taking to the track in demonstration runs, whilst other unique machines including Ferrari F40s and Lancia Stratoses will appear too.

Off-track highlights will include car displays starring cars from many of Italy's most iconic manufacturers, plus a Piazza in Italia shopping market. The event will also benefit from official involvement from the Ferrari Owners' Club and Auto Italia Magazine.

Thanks Pete - yes definitely come to the AGM. I've just got the email back confirming display/parade so it'll probably be the 124. Let's just say I need to sort some 'issues' out on the Lancia as after stripping back the underseal the floorpan's not as good as I thought it was. I just wish Joe was a bit closer.

Would those attending the AGM, or wishing to send their apologies, please tag the thread in the member's section. That's also the place to raise any issues you'd like on the agenda.

Just because the meet is open to all comers, but the AGM is obviously for members only. Of course, there's still time to join the club...

Public admission to the circuit is from 9am and Italian car owners will only be admitted entry to the venue between 9am and 11am.

Display vehicles are to follow the black square symbol on the yellow event traffic signage.

I won't leave it so long again. I've put my phone photos on Facebook. About to download my camera photos and post some of them, I'll try to put some up on here too.
Did anyone else spot that De Tomaso Guara parked in the woods as we came off the track?

Taz, I'm guessing yours was the rather lovely looking steel grey LE with the 18 inch Azevs? I was following you when we were heading to the track... was looking forward to hearing yours at full throttle, but you went straight ahead and took the exit! laugh

I was hoping to ask you about your brakes but didn't see you unfortunately during the day. They looked good! What setup are you running?

Re: Festival Italia 14th Aug 2016 - 18/08/2016 10:01

Hi mate, bit of a fail that one, went straight home !

I wanted to track it, and knew i'd misbehave, so let it be.

I'm running 330mm discs & Alfa Calipers ( removed the lettering & used standard Brembo decals ).

The discs were sourced years ago by barbz ( with some custom bells ). The only fly in the ointment is that the pad backing plates need a small bit shaving off due to the bells protruding.... it was almost 7 yrs ago I had these made up... the price was eyewatering crazy

I guess, nowadays, they are cheap as chips. The rears are standard extra large tarox discs.

cheers smile

Still thinking about what a fantastic day it was at Festival Italia and the AGM...

From the outset the club made everyone feel very welcome - the flags going up and the tea and coffee on tap with loads of chairs it started off looking like it would be a very sociable day.

The AGM was interesting and encouraging given I haven't managed to make it to one in all the time I have been a member - shame on me... although clearly I am not alone on this one.

I can strongly recommend attending - even if it does involve a long drive...

With the AGM out of the way - PeteP even managed to grab the hospitality room for the day (somehow) which was amazing and gave some amazing views and sounds of the on track action smile

Loads of people came to view Coupes - with questions/comments like what are these? nice plate? lovely colours, never seen this many in one place, sounded great on track ...

I am biased here - but I also relished the sight of so many Porto's and Steel Grey's, it made such a nice change from the Sprinty's, Broomy's and Red's that usually dominate such meets.

Anyways I will shut up now and return to my cave (garage) with a final THANK YOU fccuk smile

Great pics. I'll try and upload some more. I also have a video of the parade lap.
