Time for Anglia meet?

Time for Anglia meet? - 14/02/2007 03:36

Come on it must be time for an Anglia meet, weather getting better, roads dryer, who is up for it? Post some good dates and we can choose the best.

Re: Time for Anglia meet? - 16/02/2007 02:57

Ed - You might be interested to know I've been lasered twice in your area over the last couple of weeks. Both times from the same bridge but in different directions.

The location was on the first bridge over the A12 after you turn off the A14 back on to the A12 heading north towards Martlesham.

Both times the laser detector went off with plenty of warning and luckly I was only doing just under 80mph.

I've also seen the Police on the bridge between the the last Ipswich roundabout by the police station and the first roundabout into Woodbridge

New turbo \:D waiting to be fitted at the moment, just waiting on gaskets, etc - So towards the end of March would be good for us

I am working a night shift on the 31st but would be interested in going for a jolly before going to work

If you were to keep to your schedule you should be in the Cambridge area sort of late morning lunchtime and this is where and when I would be able to join you all.

If you like I could offer some suggestions for lunch (Pubs with a nice big car park, good grub etc).

Re: Time for Anglia meet? - 18/02/2007 18:46

Coupe Girl - There's several of us from the Chelmsford/Braintree area, so in the past we usually meet up first and head off together to join the others. So we'll sort something out nearer the time, BTW my Mrs usually attends, as do some peoples other halve's.

Lets just stick with the 29th April.

If there's only a few of us then we'll just go for a quick blast and stop for a chat somewhere in the Ipswich area. If there's enough, we'll stick to the original plan.

Hopefully the weather will be better by then and that my encourage some others to join us

I'm hoping to make the 29th - or at least some part of it. I live outside Manningtree so most of the meeting points will be convenient. Newbie to Coop ownership so looking forward to meeting you all and chatting.

Good to see you couldn't give up coupes! See you there

I guess it'll be more of a cruise, as it's quite a long trip for "spirited" driving. But I'm sure they'll be something to chat about afterwards!

However...he is really into his photography so is hoping to bring his camera stuff and get some good piccies of the coupes...if others are happy of him to do that?

Naturally...I will be able to get some pictures up and also share them with others if requested?

I Should be able to attend

Not sure what the exact plan for this run is, where I will be able to meet up with everyone and at what time But I am interested HONEST \:\)

You need to spell it out for us old fellas as we are easilly confused \:D

Re: Time for Anglia meet? - 18/04/2007 23:07

Yes, us younger ones are confused too. We need meeting points for different regions and a main meeting point and time for a meal and some tyre-kicking. (And then a route for a blast \:D )

Re: Time for Anglia meet? - 18/04/2007 23:59

ok everybody
this thread has been running since the second week in febuary..so lets get organised

start point......11.00am ipswich a14/a12 junction.its also known as the.. toys are us/tescos junction, do to the fact there is a tescos and toys are us there.(are we all keeping up)
next to the tescos car park there is a burger king
if we all meet there we can get a drink or a nibble

hope this suits everyone...i thought its a good central starting point

set off down the a12 at about 12pm(past colchester)heading for the m25(approx 1hour)(could someone from essex surgest a good spot for lunch near the bottom of the a12...(calling faz))
around the m25 anti clock wise to the m11 up the m11to the a14..break on the a14 at a BP wild bean cafe(lubly latte)

back to ipswich about 4pm ish

any feed back would be great

Re: Time for Anglia meet? - 19/04/2007 00:48

Re: Time for Anglia meet? - 19/04/2007 03:15

Fary/Will/Neil - I'll be heading up to the start at Toy's R Us, only about 25mins from Braintree. That avoids trying to join others as they fly past on the A12 + I'm sure my clutch will appreciate it!

Re: Stopping at the end of the A12 for lunch - I don't know of anywhere and TBH I wouldn't bother. It won't take long to get there. AutoRoute only reckons the whole thing will take about 2hrs, prob not much over 1hr 30mins if there's no hold up's.

Note - Getting food on a Sunday lunchtime can be hard work, most places fill up or you need to book

Maybe a brief stop on the Layby at the end of the A12 if we've got split up? and again towards the end of the M11

11am at Toys Anus roundabout it is. Looking forward. So lunch at that place mentioned on the A14 then? 4pm is too late to wait for food - I'll pass out at the wheel.

Re: Time for Anglia meet? - 19/04/2007 22:01

Ok so I will take the hike over to Ipswich for an 11am Start. Not exactly sure where this Toys R Us is but I will take a look on the net and find it.

From what I understand the Route is taking in the M11 followed by the A11 then joining the A14. How about stopping HERE for a bite to eat? The place has a BIG car park for the Coupés and there is plenty of space inside, or outside if the weather is good \:\)

Re: Time for Anglia meet? - 25/04/2007 16:03

Frary, I would suggest we don't want to meet by the Burger King, it shares its car park with Mothercare World and on a Sunday morning is completely packed with families in people carriers parking badly \:o
The best spot is further round by Currys. Map thingy! The bit you want is to the immediately to the left of those two buildings with the white roofs (the left one is Currys)
No coffee facilities that side though, although you can walk across to Tesco and get one.

Re: Time for Anglia meet? - 25/04/2007 16:59

Morgan we will meet Frary at Halesworth at about 10am, do you want to meet me at Macdonald next to Whiffler pub about 9-9.15am, that goes for any other people from norwich if they want to tag along. Does that sound ok

Re: Time for Anglia meet? - 26/04/2007 01:16

May I suggest that we PM any Anglian folks we know about.

There are those that don't visit the forum daily and they miss the events, you just know that a few days after this event someone will pop on saying that they wish they had known.

Many people have FCCUK set to send them e-mail when they get PM, you never know we might bag a few more.

The Mix track was the Human League Sound of the crowd, Trisco's Popclash mix, and taken from "The Very Best Of" CD that has a Bonus mix CD included. Do you like?

I will get the video burnt onto DVD, possibly with a High Def version too and distribute to those that want a copy.

OK chaps summer is here so it must be time for us to have another get together.

To be honest I fancy a trip to the North this time. Norwich and, or the Norfolk coast might be a good idea

It can't be July 01st as that is the same day as the Big South East meet and I know a few of us are already attending that one.

So how about either the 08th or the 15th July?

Re: Time for Anglia meet? - 07/06/2007 20:40

my home town is a little place called wells-next-sea

so i know the area extremely well
the coast road from wells to cromer is a major hoot, but this time of the year its going to be crouded everywhere
Posted By: Barmybob

Re: Time for Anglia meet? - 08/06/2007 15:46

Wells Next the Sea, is that not the place where Kingdom is filmed?

It would be great a great place to either start or finish a meet. We could meet up and start with a spot of Lunch, I'm sure FRARY could recomend a good place. We could even finish off in Wells later in the day with a Fish & Chip supper by the sea

How about taking in one of the local attractions and making this meet a proper DAY out?

A quick internet search has revealed the Norwich Aviation Museum, the William Marriott Railway Museum and the Muckleburgh collection, I'm sure there are plenty more interesting places to visit.

I should have another (4th) car by then Possibly an Alfa 166 if I can find a nice one but it might be a Saab Griffin, Audi A8, Volvo, Jag or a big BMW.

Are we on for the 15th then? I am on a night shift on the 14th but that shouldn't be a problem.

If we have a Date
Just need TIME?

Anglian Folks.

Give me an Idea of what kind of "DAY OUT" you would be interested in , possible venues etc.

I have no problem with contacting places to see if we can obtain "Group discounts" or "Special Parking Areas" etc.

Once we have some ideas I will create a poll.

Off the top of my Head.......

Bressingham Gardens & Steam museum

Duxford (I have asked for parking there before but was not Successful)

Any more, or am I way off?

Re: Time for Anglia meet? - 06/07/2007 02:28

Hi,

I know this isnt really helpful at all, but to be honest, I would be happy to go along with anything, well...almost anything!

I have tried to get to 2 meets now and both times have had to pull out so I will go with whatever allows us to group together as many folks as possible. \:\)

But just so its not a completley unhelpful post...the Carvery at the SE meet last weekend seemed popular...perhaps we could look at something like that or maybe just a good sunday roast chicken from a recommended venue by a forum member??
