South Meet 10th June

Ok you lazy lot. I will start this off:

Who is up for a meet on the 10th June?

Lets get a few names together first then decide on a place and time:

Thought I had better make a start I am not that bothered about the location. I am hoping Phil will come up with some good roads for a blast.

New alloys Truffle - How much of the student grant have you got left now Have you taken any pics yet?

I have NO student loan left. Was about to ring my employer's head office to find out why my P60 hasnt come through so i can get my tax sorted. That'll be a nice sum of money too.

The purchase wasn't planned, complete spur of the moment. But i'm very happy with them

As I posted on the old thread, I should be OK for this, but will be coming back from Spain on the Friday, so it may not go down too well with 'er indoors . If it was near to me, that would probably make it better, as I won't be out for so long then . Oh, and as you know, I live on the doorstep of some fantastic Coupe roads !

As well as admiring Truffle's new alloys, you'll also be able to check out my new *****s by then !

A few of us are intending to go to both JimO, but for others the SE meet might be a bit too far away, or perhaps just not convenient.

I've put my name down for both, can't get enough of these coupe meets now

I am hoping to go to both but don't want to commit to the SE one yet. Need to get the Radiator sorted first.

I've just found out that this is the date after the University's summer ball.(which doesnt finish till like 7am).

Whether i attend or not will depend on whther i am asleep/arrested/still drunk/lost in a field somewhere/in the bed of a beautiful woman.

These choices pretty much go in decending order of likelyhood.

Hey Kev. I might go for a blast up to stockbridge, there are some great roads between the Tesco and there and it would be a good chance to recce the pubs. I'll update later!

Webbo that wouls be great. Once we know a route I will then see who is def going to turn up

Goddamn. I ended up cycling there for the exercise, but by the time I arrived I didn't give a FCCUK about where we could meet, I just desperately searched for a shop to supply me with snickers and powerade to get me home

After meetingat Tescos at J9 I thought we could blast up the a34, take the first exit onto the A272 (nice straight roman road) then across to stockbridge on the A30. About 10 miles, if it is a bit short I'm sure phil can suggest a few roads over a drink!

Come off the M3 at J9 (from southampton), there is a big roundabout, take the 1st exit and a large tescos is on the left. We will be in there somewhere, as far as possible from the grannies and their trolleys.

Ooooo, only just spotted this after a slight nudge from Webbo. If I can get my gear linkage bolted back in this week I'll come along. I used to only live about 5 miles from Stockbridge, so I know the area well.

Just back online after my 10 days in the sun ! Can't seem to get Webbo's link above to work, but I know the roads that he is referring to . I'll have a bit more of a think on a suitable pub, and can definitely find some more 'interesting' roads, if people are up for a bit of the twisty stuff as well . Mind you, I haven't started the Coupe for two weeks, so I may have to eat my words if it doesn't start and try to keep up with you guys in the wife's Alfa !

Map works again now, I had a bit of a photobucket cleanup the other day and moved it without thinking.

OK, Coupe is fine and dandy after it's long rest ! I've even had a chance to refix the skirts, so let's hope the glue's dry by tomorrow afternoon !

Had a bit of a think about pubs, and I was thinking that maybe we could go for a little longer drive than usual, through Stockbridge and heading back to Romsey, and end up at The Bear & Ragged Staff in Michelmarsh . It's about 19 miles from Tescos, but relatively easy for people to get back to Southampton/Bournemouth afterwards .

The pub itself is very nice , with proper beer for us old fogies, snacks and fantastic locally sourced food for those that want. It will undoubtedly be busy, but there is a large off-road car park, which should be big enough by the time that we get there (hopefully ).

I have a 1.4GB video of the 22 minute drive from the Tesco car park to the pub, in which I'm following Webbo, who's following Highwayman.

TBH, although I used a good camera mount, the film is a little 'bouncy' (I should have secured the mount to my driver's seat, rather than the vacant passenger seat) but I'm willing to share it privately if anyone's interested.

Thanks to my bro, Webbo for his valued assistance in fitting my boost gauge, works perfectly mate, although I do miss the overboost to 1.4 bar!

22 minutes? u could easily get that down to <100mb. Grab DivX and the XVid codec. Lower the quality down too. If a 2 hour film can be decent quality at 700mb, then a 20minute file should look great at 120mb.

Like i say, lower the quality and easily sub 100mb

Regarding the meet, we should do one where we can all meet up during the day and then have an evening out on the tiles.

Really annoyed I couldn't go. I got everything done to my car, then it didn't start. I think it's something to do with the wiring mod I carried out.

Not missing the coupe that much to be honest, and my wallet is certainly healthier
I'm driving a 2.4 V6 Audi A6 avant at the mo, fits my needs not to bad.
Anyway my fellow south coast coupe owners, take it easy

I have just gone out and got myself a Fiat Coupe 20V. I live in Bournemouth and would be fantastic to meet other owners of this sports car.

Ashame about the weather at the moment but would be great to meet up for a drink and to look at all the tasty cars.

We usually have a south meet every few months. However, we are terrible at organising them. We normally meet at Tescos M3 J9 then go for a blast.:) We could organise a meet closer to Bournemouth but I am not sure which roads we could use for a blast.

If you have know a good routes, I am happy to organise another meet for the beginning of August.

Well I have had previous meets with the Aristo TT Club at the Sea View Pub down the road, we can the drive up the dual carriageway and to the roundabout (ringwood) and back.

But I am happy to meet at the M3. Day times are best for me. How many usually turn up? Must my car be modified in anyway? I have just got it so have only just cleaned it, not done anything else really to it yet... I have many questions as you can imagine.

Between 5 and 7 coups normally turn up. We usually struggle to find a pub that we can fit all the cars in. Not sure what the TT club is like. If it is big enough we could meet there.

Don’t worry about your car not being modded.:) To be honest there is usually a mixture of modded and non modded. It is a good place to get some ideas for mods etc.

Why don’t you start a new south meet and see what interest there is.

Keep me updated on when the M3 meet is as will also like to go to that one.

We've had a meet on the back roads of Cranborne Chase before maybe 3 or 4 years ago, that was good with maybe 15 cars.

If/when I get another Coupe, I'd be happy to organise one up on the good roads around there and promise to get a pub that isn't closed for redevelopment this time
