Right time to revive this thread.
Cowboy has arranged for us to get discounted tickets through L&M for this event but we need to know numbers by the end of the week.
I can then call Santa Pod and arrange a club stand for us as they really need to know what sort of numbers will be attending.
Here's a link to the site.

http://www.santapod.co.uk/e_italia.php

Can the people that put their names down originally please confirm they want to go.
The list so far:

1. Coupedave (confirmed)
2. rmcfarlane
3. Marky212
4. MCMike
5. Cowboy (confirmed)

Re: "Forza Italia" Italian Car Day - 27/06/2006 18:22

CoupeDave ill be there but i will be on the RED DOT stand with their mobile ROLLING ROAD.

I did PM scooby but maybe he didnt get it, I have a contact at TRMG and he said to me if i can get the people who run the coop website to contact him he could arrange queue jump (i think this was to run the strip) and also could arrange it so that coop's can run against other coop's up "THE STRIP"

He also said that he wants REALLY POWERFUL cars to run against each other and end up with two of the most powerful cars at the end to run against each other (hopefully one of these being a coop )

So do we have any people going with REALLY quick coops? would be GREAT to show these people what a coop can actually do

I personally think this will be a DAMN EXCELLENT show that at last people with performance cars will feel at home with

Dave mate -

I'm definitely interested, what's the score with the 1/4 mile - do you have to wait for ages to get a go? How much is it overall if you wanna come along and go for a blast? Anyone from Anglia going that might wanna do convoy?

Questions questions

Re: "Forza Italia" Italian Car Day - 25/07/2006 18:21

Rusper it basically the same as any 'Run What Ya Brung' event but with Italian cars only.

Unlimited runs but as with anything at the Pod you have to queue up, sometimes its quiet and other times its very busy!

Think its about £10 to get in and then £15/20 for unlimited goes on the strip.

Great laugh though!

Hopefully we will be on tarmac/concrete but might be on grass, disposable BBQ's are OK but we must get rid of them afterwards.
As soon as I get more info I will let everyone know.
In the meantime could everyone who is down as a possible let me know for definate ASAP incase I need to book more space.

But if it's like any other ford / USC day, its £15 for 3 runs, maybe a few more runs if they get quiet

Re: "Forza Italia" Italian Car Day - 27/07/2006 00:21

Dave

Do we just make our way there on our own? Or are we planning to meet up somewhere and convoying to Santa Pod.

And do you need me to send you some money for my ticket(s)?
Posted By: Anonymous

Re: "Forza Italia" Italian Car Day - 27/07/2006 04:36

Hi Rod. Just to let you know and everyone else, the tickets are available direct from Santa Pod, link below, scroll down to the bottom of the page.
http://www.santapod.co.uk/e_italia.php

£15 at the gate or £10 if bought before hand by phoning them or ordering online.
Would love to have been able to buy a load for us but unfortunately my funds wouldn't stretch that far at the moment.
Hope this helps everyone

Total killer - just found out I need 2 new Eagle F1's after spending out over a grand on getting engaged (which I was disappointed to discover did nothing to improve the performance of the car at all) so unless I can find extra cash for them before I go I might not be able to risk running the 1/4
Was well looking forward to caning an Enzo

Re: "Forza Italia" Italian Car Day - 02/08/2006 12:35

But organisation seems to be piss poor. They've been advertising the Fastest integrale shoot out, now they are advertising the Fiat Coupe shoot out

You'd think they'd get in touch in advance with the integrale and Coupe people (ie this site and the Evo Forum, or the LMC, etc) but no-one seems to have bothered. So they'll have to figure it all out on the day, sifting between what's about when they could have arranged things in advance

Or as is more likely, it will be a free for all and they might compile the results after the event in some semblance of order to look like there was a shootout

Re: "Forza Italia" Italian Car Day - 02/08/2006 15:07

Right, be honest here guys n girls!

I have never been to the pod before, although mates have been etc etc heard all the stories and wanted to go for ages!.

The only thing is, is it going to be worth me actually having a go at the 1/4 or would it be best to just watch on in awe and amazement for the first time of being up there? I dont want to make a complete an utter fool of myself and i also dont want some chav stylee punto thinking they can beat a coupe, just because i fccuked the start up!
So is it worth me having a go? If so any tips learnt from experience?

Also just how clean, neat, tidy and polished are your coupes? I dont want to let he side down with slight cosmetics or something!

Oh the worries....
Cheers

Re: "Forza Italia" Italian Car Day - 02/08/2006 15:51

JayB - don't worry!

There will always be something faster, cleaner, tidier than you - so don't get too stressed that you will let the side down.

Yes it is quite difficult to get a good run at the pod, and lots of people just do massive wheels spins etc... it takes quite a bit of practise, but don't let that put you off.

Just come along and enjoy the fun
Posted By: MCMike

Re: "Forza Italia" Italian Car Day - 02/08/2006 16:09

You need to have a go, you won't really learn anything by watching - the key seems to be balancing the wheelspin against bogging down... It's great fun

Re: "Forza Italia" Italian Car Day - 02/08/2006 16:47

Nobby i know what your saying about that :d i done about 15 runs one day in my punto gt and i tell you most of them it was hard to get traction lol but i did pull off a 15.2 which wasn't to bad.

i might be running my coupe when im up there just havent decided yet, just hope i dont launch like a granny lol

Re: "Forza Italia" Italian Car Day - 02/08/2006 19:48

I definately won't be running down the 1/4mile, done it plenty of times in the past and can't afford a new clutch again at the moment.
Launching at the pod is tricky, it's not designed for road tyres. The technique will vary from car to car but I found that dropping the fronts down to 25psi and giving them a good burnout helped. Then get to the 1st staging light, revs to 2700, hold it on the clutch (it's slightly uphill at the start), creep it to the 2nd light and when you get the greens just dump it and floor it
Posted By: Anonymous

Re: "Forza Italia" Italian Car Day - 02/08/2006 20:08

Well i must say i am worried about my clutch big time! I really cant afford another at the mo!
Posted By: Anonymous

Re: "Forza Italia" Italian Car Day - 02/08/2006 20:25

You can be as gentle or as harsh as you like. The Pod is actually pretty forgiving as the lack of grip means you disperse the energy through wheelspin rather than driveshafts, clutches etc

Re: "Forza Italia" Italian Car Day - 02/08/2006 20:45

It would just be sooo tempting to up the boost just for the 1/4 mile. I could run 1.5Bar like 'fearless frag'.
Posted By: Anonymous

Re: "Forza Italia" Italian Car Day - 02/08/2006 20:54

1.5 bar..... don't be silly.

I heard its more like 1.6

I'm still waiting for all the info to arrive from them, phoned and they are chasing it up for me.
I know the fiatforum have had trouble sorting things too.
Think some of the problem comes from Auto Italia plus lack of communication.
As soon as I hear anything from you I'll let you all know.

If it's anything like the one i have seen at other events, i wouldn't touch it with a barge pole, no cooling fan is being blown onto it, and they hold it at certain revs in 3rd or 4th gear, clever eh?

Re: "Forza Italia" Italian Car Day - 03/08/2006 21:46

Kenno - leave the boost where it should be when you got the car mapped mate!

I'm not sure why people get so worried about running 1/4 miles - you're only at the end of 3rd gear / beginning of 4th at the end point....if your engine's going to go bang it will do it at the top end in fourth / fifth unless you have a map that's miles out or a major problem. (or you've been a bit daft and turned the boost up too high hopeing it will be OK....) if you've got a problem then chances are the engine will go next time you boot it down a slip road anyway...

If you miss a gear change or slap gears in at full throttle your going to put the clutch under strain - but that's really up to you! As is how brutal you want to be launching.

Speak for yourself - the kappa should be in the upper reaches of 5th, might even be in 6th at the end. Mind you, it is a lot lower geared than the Coupes, 7000rpm in 5th is only 130mph for me

Can't afford to break drive shafts or the gearbox, we're due out at Anglesey the following weekend

Re: "Forza Italia" Italian Car Day - 07/08/2006 19:11

I was just on the Santa Pod website and disaster - there are no tickets left online.

Does anyone know how the tickets normally sell on the door? Is there a chance I might get all the way there and then not be able to get a ticket?
Posted By: Anonymous

Re: "Forza Italia" Italian Car Day - 07/08/2006 19:25

Rusper - I'd noticed the same thing... but i doubt they will have sold out. Perhaps it's not possible for them to get the tickets out to you in time for the event therefore they've stopped selling them online.

Re: "Forza Italia" Italian Car Day - 07/08/2006 19:32

The closing date for buying online has passed

Re: "Forza Italia" Italian Car Day - 07/08/2006 20:13

Think the closing date was last friday but not sure I'll phone and ask them.
Should be able to get them on the gate though.

Re: "Forza Italia" Italian Car Day - 07/08/2006 20:21

Just spoken to the nice girl at Santa Pod and no need for anyone to worry you can still get tickets on the gate on the day!
She's also given us a stand big enough for 50 cars! So if you turn up on the day there should be space for you.
Also it should be on tarmac and not grass so no worries about wet weather.
There will be no plan available but she said the marshalls will show you to the area.
I'll probably get there early anyway so nobody worry!!!

Who says we're in one car? I might bring my own

Actually are tickets per person or car?

nice one Dave

it`ll be good that we can all be on the same stand

Re: "Forza Italia" Italian Car Day - 07/08/2006 22:05

Suba you live in Twickenham??? Cant believe i havent seen you i live just around the corner from you sort of inbetween Hounslow & Whitton!

JAYB - Dont worry i am a SANTA POD VIRGIN TOO and unless i brick it on the day i will take Angelica for a blast up the strip altho i am running completely standard power (unless my mate tunes it before hand)

Begbie - Just to calm down any fears the rolling road that is going to be there is a GOOD ONE i know the lads VERY VERY WELL and they have no intention of blowing up cars that is not what they are all about!
They will have a cooling fan and a big one at that........... their rolling road they take to JAE (jap shows) and they have had cars on there that have run around 500 BHP.

If anyone wants to check out their website it is www.reddotracing.co.uk honestly guys i wouldnt recommend them if i knew their work was crap but it isnt.

I REALLY cant wait for this Saturday WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO-HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO BRING IT ON!!!!
Apart from the stupid early start as we have to get their early with the rolling road and set it up etc etc :s

Re: "Forza Italia" Italian Car Day - 07/08/2006 22:54

Crazycoop, virgins together, thank god for that! Im hoping i dont brick it on the day!! The only thing that puts me off is the possiblity of clutch or something going, and i really havent got the cash for anything new at the mo!

Re: "Forza Italia" Italian Car Day - 07/08/2006 23:45

All these virgins together!! Me too but I won't be putting mine on the strip, nice dodgy thermostat so likes to run about 90-100 degrees in traffic!!
Would love to put it on the rollers but don't want it overheating.
Crazycoop your PM box is full hun!! Put you back on our stand anyway.
Bobbs think it might be per person, will phone tomorrow, might as well bring yours in that case!!

YAY!
Another Porto
I bet its the "most popular" colour of the day again just like at Stamford hall

MBurns have you ever been to ace cafe???
There is a guy that goes there with my cars twin (well near enough )

What happened to their cars then??
I will try and find the thread/post for it

Re: "Forza Italia" Italian Car Day - 08/08/2006 19:58

Not any more - they were £10 (+ booking fee) online, but you can't get them online any more. So now they are £15/person on the gate
Posted By: Anonymous

Re: "Forza Italia" Italian Car Day - 08/08/2006 19:59

CC, Porto is the most popular colour regardless IMO!! (just waiting for all other owners to comment to the contrary!)

I have been to the Ace cafe before, but I dont think I saw another Porto there - was quite disappointed - reckon it was someone else!

PS: Liked your "parking" you posted up elsewhere as well ! Hope she is better now!
Posted By: Anonymous

Re: "Forza Italia" Italian Car Day - 08/08/2006 20:27

Well i think she is very nearly better as she is in the bodyshop as i type went in yesterday and i am hoping i will get her back before the ACE CAFE this thursday.....

OF COURSE PORTO IS THE BEST COLOUR not that we are biased of course

You must have gone either the one time i wasnt there :s probably a problem with Angelica or you went before i arrived as my time keeping isnt the best as other people will tell you

Re: "Forza Italia" Italian Car Day - 08/08/2006 20:41

Looks like you were very lucky to get away with minor cosmetic damage! Still, hopefully she should be OK for the weeekend! We can then (with others) represent the Porto part of the club at least at the Pod!

Haven't been to the Ace for quite some time - will have to get myself down there some time soon!

On the A43 towards Northampton for the M40 there's some speed camera's.
First one is just before Silverstone jct next to a pub (Green Man i think it's called) & on the other side there's a camera.
Next camera is between Towcester and Northampton.

Heheheheeee. mauve met!! I will bring my big bodyguard with me to do the talking! Seriously, there aint a coupe colour i dislike really. All the colours i like. Well its Coupes i like, no matter the colour. I will wonder over and have a natter.
There is a fact that green cars are more accident prone [insurance tally], and my last green car [BMW] got stolen!!
I have generally bought blue cars as blue is my fav colour[cobolt my def fav]!!!!!!!!!! This one came along at very right price and i could not refuse. So i have a Scotts Green 20VT.

Have to have a BBQ scooby and check out the garden furniture!! Did you get the marks off the patio??
What time shall I get to yours for?

Re: "Forza Italia" Italian Car Day - 10/08/2006 00:14

I will be around all day so get here whenever. I think Scooby is planning on bunking off a bit early.

As for the patio, er no, it's still stained

If a few more people fancy coming over Friday I have no probs sparking the bbq up. Otherwise it's justa stroll into town for kebabs and beer

I will probably be coming to this also now, weather looks fine scooby - hopefully should be dry, this site has always been accurate for pod/racing weather so far:

http://uk.weather.com/weather/hourbyhour/NN29?begHour=11&begDay=224

hour by hour it was right at my last sprint, so should be perfect for drag racing.

See you chaps there!

Just got back from Santa Pod - I reckon there must have been ~30 coops in the FCCUK area plus various others dotted around. I think the threat of rain must have put a lot of people off particularly the Ferrari OC who seemed to be entirely absent Amazingly there was hardly a spot of rain and the coops seemed to get a lot of runs in Congrats to Sheiks(?) for putting a string of 12s in and winning the top Fiat award
Here's a few pics of the day ...

Great day had out & meeting some fellow fccuk'ers! Had 7 runs and got some "average" times, but I had a major problem with traction with my runs - was wheel-spinning all the way up to 3rd/70ish mph on a few of them !!

And a thankyou to CrazyCoop for the 3 Porto showdowns we had!! Hope you are glad you have lost your 'Pod virginity!!

My thoughts in t'other thread
Posted By: Anonymous

Re: "Forza Italia" Italian Car Day - 14/08/2006 18:16

Well I had a sod of a day all in all!

As JohnS said the exhaust blew off the downpipe on launch of the first run. (thanks for the help getting it back on mate!) That was loud! Then I got back at it in the afternoon and was getting quicker only to loose oil pressure as I was pulling up to let the car cool down - still dont know exactly what the issue is - but pretty damn sure it's the oil cooler / pipes. Just hope the Engine's OK.

had a few good runs - one with Leight was cool (anyone got that on video?)- not a huge ammount in it apart from his car pulling noticeably stronger at the top end at the end of second / third from 5,500 ish. Nice little blat with Marcus and Flea on the way up as well.

Looks like Flea is starting to get the hang of launching. I was utterly pathetic really. Struggling to get into the 13's - which the car is more than capable of.

Taffy - please teach me how to launch!

was a bit dissapointed at the lack of supercars that turned up - but a nice day for the coops.
