Re: east anglia meet? - 10/01/2006 01:34

Spoke to Ed about this on Saturday at the Christmas Party, I hadn't seen this post

We both agreed that 2005 had a severe lack of East Anglian Events / meets so long as we are not snow bound on the 22nd I'll be there.

Where are we meeting Pub / car park etc?

Posted By: Anonymous

Re: east anglia meet? - 10/01/2006 15:14

The 5th is good with me too!!
How about Ipswich???
It seems quite central to the Anglia region
There is a toys r us on the A12/A14 junction, with big car parks
Just an idea what do you think????
Posted By: Anonymous

Re: east anglia meet? - 11/01/2006 00:52

toys are us sounds good just have to get my insurance rewewed in time.

Re: east anglia meet? - 11/01/2006 01:07

Hi Fellas

I should be able to join you. I'm going to be abroad at some point in Feb but I think it'll be later on in the month.

So what is the plan? Meet at Toys R Us - then what?

Cheers

Luke
Posted By: Anonymous

Re: east anglia meet? - 11/01/2006 03:14

toys are us sounds to me...its handy for anyone comming up from essex(its at the top of the A12)

we could go for a high speed bash along the a14 east then perhaps up the a12 towards lowestoft via martlesham heath, then if anyone fancied we could hang a right through some back roads to the suffolk coast
these some cracking twisty roads out that way

these are only surgestions its not my place to organise, any other ideas would be great

this is Eds neck of the woods perhaps yourve got some ideas

Toys R Us sounds a good place to start, then a bit of a blast, finishing near the coast sound great ,Aldborough in Suffolk is famous for its fish and chip.I dont care where we go really, as long as we get some dry weather.

I have just seen the post for the surrey lot & they are meeting up on the 5th too, only junction 11 on the M25 it could be cool to hook up with them too a kinda double meet.
Just a thought i suspect its a bit far for the Norfolk guys though?
What do you think????
Posted By: Anonymous

Re: east anglia meet? - 11/01/2006 17:42

That's a long way for an East Anglia meet, J11 is right round the other side of the M25 for us lot. It's near Staines/M3 on the west side of M25/London

abit far i agree. shame though
Posted By: Anonymous

Re: east anglia meet? - 12/01/2006 00:33

to all you norwich boys.i will join the a140 at the a143(near scole/diss)perhaps we could meet up on the way down?

That would be great Frary, by the way i didnt mean the A12 i ment the Ipswich road from Norwich, getting confused with going from my Girlfriends house in Halesworth.

Re: east anglia meet? - 15/01/2006 21:05

jamie
i will be comming from harleston so we wont be that far away from each other
im going to pick my father in law up at Pulham mkt then head out to the A140,then down towards Ips

only a surgestion ,but if you want to meet there is a road which runs from Halesworth to Harleston(about 15mins....mind you, looking at your BHP in your sig, youll probobly be able to do it in about 5mins )

Re: east anglia meet? - 15/01/2006 22:22

im up for drivein down with you boys but remember its only a 20v and i put it in a field last nite after spinning twice at 80mph and now i have a new version of bumper with cable ties in it and a missing sideskirt. jamie if you go down holly lane just out of horsford towards the reepham road you will see what im on about.i reshapped the verges nicely
Posted By: Anonymous

Re: east anglia meet? - 16/01/2006 06:08

Frary i wont be coming from Halesworth, i will be coming from Norwich so we will meet you some where on the A140.

julian is Holly lane the turning at the indian in Horsford? perhaps its safer you do come with me as we might be doing a little faster than 80mph

does anyone fancy putting a route together?
Posted By: Anonymous

Re: east anglia meet? - 17/01/2006 02:06

not the turning at the indian but the turning right before the round about i was coming from the repham road hit a bump in the road in the corner and it just went. first time in 5 years that road has caught me out.
Posted By: Anonymous

Re: east anglia meet? - 17/01/2006 03:18

I know the one julian went down there this morning didnt see any bushes, you must have taken the only bush out on that road

Dont know that way very well, so who ever is from that area pick somewhere nice to go with some nice quick roads, with out to many cameras.

Re: east anglia meet? - 17/01/2006 07:18

Hmm, the suffolk coast, a sunday, and cars do not make the happiest of bedfellows, unless you enjoy driving along at 25 in a 60 behind people who really should have had their licenses revoked many many years before (and yes you could overtake them - but only if you can see past the other 20 cars in front of you )

However, it is possible that for a few minutes at least, it may be possible to enjoy some cracking roads

The first place that springs to mind is Aldeburgh - the fish and chip shop is reputably the best around (i've never had any cos the queue has always been out the door and a fair way down the street) and it has some nice pubs.
Not a bad drive out there either (although parking may be a bit tricky)

Southwold is also pleasant but i'm alot less familiar with it in terms of f&c and pubs so will do some asking around at work if we fancy that.

I'm sure i'll think of some more places before the 5th

Would it be o.k to turn up at the planned gathering (probably without a 20vt) to have a look around and get some advise etc...

Also, is there anyone based Chelmsford way who could give me some advise etc...

Thanks,

Yes, food's good, but parking for cars is limited unless we nick some lorry spaces.

This needs sorting out as Toy's R Us - Tesco's will be busy at 11am on a Sunday morning.

just follow the A14 towards Felixstowe around the bottom of ipswich, then over the bridge get in the left hand lane and take the first exit...thres a maccy D"s on the same site

bit of feed back from everybody on this idea..please ( only about 5mins further down the road

could do.

Re: east anglia meet? - 31/01/2006 02:40

Guys,

Don't turn off at the first exit after the bridge , this is the Nacton junction. You want the next one; this exit is for McD's and the truck stop only
Posted By: Ed

Re: east anglia meet? - 31/01/2006 02:49

Tesco's car park will be busy, Toy's r Us won't be, although the truck stop is probably a better idea. Snewton's right it's the second exit after the bridge.
Yes the tesco's does do 99 ron

Re: Truck Stop - 06/02/2006 05:04

Great day every one, must do it more often perhaps when its warmer and we can get more traction. Thanks to edd and Frary for the fast runs up the dually and thanks to the police for slowing us down great to speak to different members and see all the different variants of cars.

Cheers all - 06/02/2006 06:24

Nice to meet everyone, sorry I didn't follow on but the fish & chips were too good to miss

My day was spoiled somewhat by an intermittent injector light error
Knew my good luck couldn't last!

Certainly be up for another meet when the weather cheers up a bit.

All the best,
Jimi

Great turnout for the time of year, bit disapppointed to see michael's car looking so dirty
Hope everyone had fun (including the police )
Bet they were a bit gutted not to catch the front runners up (although driving round and round roundabouts probably didn't help them haha)
Look forward to seeing everyone at the next one

Re: Cheers all - 06/02/2006 16:20

Good to meet up with everyone for a day out.

Sorry I lost you guys, but as mentioned, Marks car stalled at the roundabout and was reluctant to restart - so I hung back incase he couldn't get it started again (think I've got a big hammer in the boot! -that normally fixes anything)

You can't normally loose us 16vt's that easily

Santapod is normally twice a month, so we can do it what ever month, its called run what ya brung, there is a web site and it will give you all the dates ,prices, and rules and regs. It is great fun, but very nerve racking on you first couple of runs, but when you are racing a 400bhp skyline then its a real adrenelin rush. ( bring on the flames)
