Surrey Meets

Surrey Meets - 16/01/2011 16:26

Are there any regular Surrey meets?

I can't believe I've had my Coupe 6 months and not been to one meet.

Well, there was the Bluewater Christmas shopping meet where I was the only one that turned up...

Have you looked at the south east meet, still in the process of being arranged.

I want to try and get to a few meets.

Re: Surrey Meets - 16/01/2011 16:46

Cheers bud. I'm dying to go to a meet and see some other coupes.

I arranged to interview someone for a new role at my work yesterday, even thought we are closed on Saturdays, just so I could drive the coupe to work! laugh

Re: Surrey Meets - 23/01/2011 13:55

Why don't we have a mini meet soon? Just an excuse to go out for a drive on a weekend.

Re: Surrey Meets - 24/01/2011 22:49

Biggenz

Mini meet sounds a good idea..

Re: Surrey Meets - 24/01/2011 23:30

im in, pick a nice route with a pub to stop at for a chat and some grub.

<grump mode on>
im assuming that people will be responsible and not take this as a street race opportunity
<grump mode off>

Do you by any chance have the slowest coupe of us all?? laugh

Re: Surrey Meets - 25/01/2011 13:35

Oi! *I* have the slowest coupe of us all, as amply proved by the number of times people drive into the back of it.

Well having been driven into the back of *twice* I know it's not because of being slow, but having much better than average brakes (and the guy behind driving beyond his capability to stop in time even though I was hardly doing emergenecy stops)

Re: Surrey Meets - 25/01/2011 21:23

Mitcham and Streatham are close to me in West Norwood. Lived here 7 years and only seen 2 coupes. Don't get out much!

Re: Surrey Meets - 25/01/2011 22:10

You and me both, Dave. I was stationary in both cases.

Re: Surrey Meets - 26/01/2011 08:32

Barnacle, are you coming along, since you are only on the other side of the M25?

Re: Surrey Meets - 26/01/2011 11:52

Depends when and where, and whether it's fit for flying... Grasshopper Inn http://www.grasshopperinn.co.uk/ has been a successful meeting place in the past, and the carvery isn't too bad.

But I have a lot of 'fly to Berlin and cuddle baby granddaughter' commitments.

Re: Surrey Meets - 26/01/2011 19:53

I must admit, since I've not been on any meets, I'd probably not be the best person to suggest a route, although there is a great pub in Kingswood. Bit posh and expensive, but worth a try imo.

Re: Surrey Meets - 26/01/2011 19:56

I'm from south coast and would be up for traveling to Surrey for a mini meet. Dependent of when it was?
Posted By: technics

Re: Surrey Meets - 26/01/2011 20:16

Might be interested, depends when and where.

Could this thread not be linked up with the south east meet?
Make a big one?

Re: Surrey Meets - 26/01/2011 22:47

Going to let a Sussex boy along (well, old git actually)..

I'd second the grasshopper as well.

Re: Surrey Meets - 27/01/2011 08:19

Cool, so even though we don't have a date or route yet, it seems quite a few people are up for it.

Anyone want to jump in with a date/route?

Re: Surrey Meets - 27/01/2011 13:00

Grasshopper inn looks good. Not been there before and seems conveniently located for london South, surrey and Sussex

Re: Surrey Meets - 27/01/2011 20:41

Grasshoppers only 15mins from me (Orpington) so I'd be up for it.

Re: Surrey Meets - 27/01/2011 20:46

Brighton boy here these days smile So yes, anything around here would be grand.
Posted By: Thunderbox

Re: Surrey Meets - 28/01/2011 14:47

Worthing but previous Forest Hill boy here! I know the Grasshopper well and it's a great blast up to Westerham from the coast. I am up for it dependant on date. The 'old girl' needs an airing now she's been fixed and fettled!!
Also happy if it were somewhere else; it would just be nice to get out of the house- typical Worthing resident remark!!

Possibly some other South coast 'sleepers' out there up for it? I remember the Sussex Pad meet a few years ago was a great success even if the landlord didn't appreciate his car park full of coupes!

Re: Surrey Meets - 28/01/2011 18:26

Thunderbox
Honouray london member then !!

Sussex pad. Haven't been there for many years..
Is that the one overlooking shoreham airport

Bet landlord appreciated the income though..!

Re: Surrey Meets - 29/01/2011 16:31

Sorry went off topic there and forget the forum title is SURREY meets.

So seems the grasshopper generally gets the thumbs up ?

In which case , That's the where sorted..

Only leaves the when ...........

Re: Surrey Meets - 09/02/2011 17:08

In the interests of moving this on can I suggest a few dates which can then be shot down in flames , debated, changed or agreed?

I suppose a Sunday is best (although Mr. & Mrs. Mondeo Man (and family) will be packing out the Grasshopper- if I remember correctly! But they do serve and stay open all day so later is probably better(?.

How about:
27th. February, 6th. March or 13th. March?

Re: Surrey Meets - 09/02/2011 17:29

What about linking this up with the south east meet on the sunday the 20th march?

We can double the attendance then, have a big meet?

Re: Surrey Meets - 10/02/2011 10:43

Great idea, if everyone from the south east meet is willing to move venue or vice versa. Or somewhere in between, maybe Windsor area?
Posted By: Thunderbox

Re: Surrey Meets - 14/02/2011 13:56

Windsor sounds a good venue, there must be loads of suitable pubs although I don't know the area well enough. It appears the SE Meet was proposing a venue in Maidenhead, which also nice. Did they have a date in mind- I can't remember?
Posted By: jame5

Re: Surrey Meets - 14/02/2011 18:30

We were looking at the 20th for the south east. Not set in stone though, would be great to get a big group together.
Posted By: PeteP

Re: Surrey Meets - 14/02/2011 19:09

No date will suit everybody.

The best thing to do is just set a date and and venue then see who turns up.

Then you can tell all the rest what they missed.

Re: Surrey Meets - 15/02/2011 22:58

Sunday 20th March 2011
