BIAMF Saturday 16th April 2011. - 10/02/2011 01:13
I've recently been chatting with Paul and it's time to get your entry details in again for this year show. There's initially 10 places available as space is limited due to scaffolding again but there maybe a further 5 places depending on other numbers attending.
I've also requested a better position for the club this year as we were stuck at the end of St Nicolas street, it was a little lonely so we might be either on St Stevens street or Small street, when we're closer the time I'm sure Paul will let me know.
Anyone planning on attending must get their details off to Paul asap, follow the instructions in the link below, add your name to the list and once confirmed please update it so we know the numbers.
It was a great day last year, loads to see and very busy, hopefully it'll be another good one and the weather will be kind with no rain.

Guys, this is a brilliant event and was well worth the trip all the way from Carlisle last year.
The town centre was crammed with all makes of Italian cars and bikes and would love to have gone again this year but unfortunately i can't get away this time.
You have a great show on your doorstep, don't waste the opportunity. I just wish we had as many events up here so close to home.

So i'm still considering this. But my car really isnt upto scratch
It has kerbed wheels, paint chips-a-go-go on the bonnet and many many swirl marks and dings in the paint.
Mechanically she should be spot on by then, it's just she need some cosmetic surgery.

The Travellers' Rest This is where a group of us met up last year, so that we could convoy together (and announce our arrival in style
). Because of your location Dan, the convoy could meet at the Travellers' rest and then hook up with you en route?

Re: BIAMF Saturday 16th April 2011. - 10/04/2011 14:06
Been to the pre-event marshals briefing this morning, and so I can reveal that the planned location for the Coupes this year will be...<drum roll>...
Corn Street, on the right hand side, outside Walkabout/Caffe Nero-ish. We'll be in good company as the Ferraris are being parked opposite
As I'm sure we'll all be informed this week when we receive passes and whatnot, Corn St is going to be in the 'Yellow zone' and we will be required to enter through the 'Pink zone' (ooh-err) which will be the end of
St Nicholas Street junction with High St (Point A on Google map link).
I'll be there early, so hopefully I'll be able to park all you guys up next to mine as long as you're not too late arriving.
Sound good?

In the past few years, we've usually arrived @ 7.30am and there's always been cars parked up well before us.
Don't suppose anyone's going with a Code Reader that can reset Airbag Lights? (worth an ask).

Nah it's always the [6]'s that get the attention and the plaudits!
I'll check the Travellers Rest postcode in a min and see what time we'll need to leave here to get there for 7am.

Ready for the show! Gone to town for my home town show, don't think the coop knows what's hit it
1) Wash, wax car, make shiny
-Done
2) Clean inside, especially rear seats from carrying track tyres around
-Done, treated the leather on the seats, so not only cleaned!
3) Clean engine bay (thanks Patch for getting me inspired and the tips!!)
-Done, on a Scotty doesn't have quite the impact as a Broomie, but I'll be doing the VIS next.
4) Complete spec sheet to put in window and save all the repetitive questions (thanks Duncan78!)
-Done
5) Remember to put the yellow entry sheet on window!
-Done
6) Set alarm for 6.15 ish
-Urgh, done
I even went to town on the dirty crusty exhaust tail pipe, so not only does my Scotty now have a shiny fuel cap, but the tail pipe has been restored to its former glory.
See you all tomorrow, either at the Travellers rest or in town

I have just spent 4 hours poslishing the car. A first for me, I'm actually quite surprised how shiney it looks.
In the morning i'll be cleaning out the inside. I ran out of time today.

See you all tomorrow

I'll have some tyre black you can use - unless it makes your car look better than mine of course.
Just collected mine from the bodyshop from having a full respray so I'm paranoid about driving it anywhere at the moment.

Re: BIAMF Saturday 16th April 2011. - 15/04/2011 22:21
Well mine still looks a mess;
Centre console refitted - no.
Exhaust trim changed over - no.
Handbrake console refitted - collecting tomorrow.
Leather cleaned and conditioned - yes.
Windows washed and polished - no.
Boot emptied of junk - no.
Bluetooth kit outputs swapped - no (this is why the centre console hasn't gone back)
Just finished work - yes.
Feeling totally knackered - yes.
Looking forward to getting up at 4am - no.
EDIT: Just spent half an hour in the dark trying to refit centre console and failed miserably.
Going to bring the bits over and try to fit when we arrive.
If we hadn't booked and paid for the hotel for tomorrow night, we'd probably have cancelled. As it is we'll treat this as a weekend away and just chill.
Despite the above, we're both looking forward to this.

Re: BIAMF Saturday 16th April 2011. - 16/04/2011 18:29
Well what a difference a day can make. Oh and a 15 year old genius called Jake!
As you can probably tell from my last post, I was a little frustrated and fed up that the coop was nowhere near ready for today imo.
When we arrived we were warmly greeted by everyone there and Jake was busy "tinkering" with various coops. Following a conversation with Joe, Jake was drafted in to work his magic on my coop. Needless to say, Jake was very "enthusiastic" to carry out the work needed and had everything back together and working in a very short time.
Just wanted to say a big, public "thank you" to Jake for sorting this for me. Just like his dad, Jake did little niggly jobs that I hadn't asked for but he wanted right. Jake you're a credit to your parents but perhaps more importantly to yourself.
A great day with good weather, a great range of Italian exotica, old friends and some new ones and a 15 year old genius.
We're now ensconced in the Bristol Hilton and getting ready for a chilled night out.
Jake - you the man!

Re: BIAMF Saturday 16th April 2011. - 16/04/2011 18:34
Oh and just for the record; Jake said that he liked my car "a lot".
High praise indeed and I hadn't even paid him at that point!
Also special thanks to Mrs MABR for going above and beyond in the wifey duties by helping to finish off the waxing and polishing without being asked.

Highlight of the day was Joe getting cream bunned by the local seagulls
AND Manchester city dumping Man U-(suck)nited out of the cup.

Re: BIAMF Saturday 16th April 2011. - 18/04/2011 12:11
Great day out. Started very early for me, having to travel all of 10 minutes to the meeting point
(Sorry Craig
)
Some cracking metal on display, obviously the F40, some lovely Integrales, and my favourite, the Stratos. Nice to see some shiny coops also.
Highlight of the day for me was Joe flooring it in the afternoon growl off, covering some poor lady coming out of Cafe Nero behind in a shower of exhaust fumes. She ran back in quickly. Cough cough what a smokey old girl that Vinci is!
Also in the afternoon growl off, I remember standing behind James' plus when he was booting it. I didn't hear a thing though, just got a warm leg. Mouse like whooshing and dump valve chatter. Did enjoy bouncing mine off the limiter a few times, although was a bit heart in mouth when I let Richys gf/wife (?) have a go, LIFT OFF LIFT OFF for gods sake!
And that wasn't Leighton, that was his humanoid representative. What is true, he exists only as eletronic matter, which is why when you leave your car at his for mapping, you meet in a random area on Bristol Downs, turn off ignition, flash lights then get out of your car with your eyes closed. You then get a bag over the head, and when you gain your senses you are back in the car, minus some cash with some Bristol shopping bags for effect.
Then onto the pub to watch City dump Utd out
Then Truffle and I hit the Bristol nightspots. I lost my iPhone, Truffle the contents of his stomach around 11pm. Got back home around 5am, somehow, minus a wad of cash and my phone. Yesterday was a write off. Even today I'm only at 80%. Never again, least, until the next time

Very eagle eyed. Non-laminated though it is. If Heather can have the copy I sent you laminated before Brooklands I'd be grateful
Or maybe I'll take the VIS. Don't know yet!!

Is that a Sprint Blue Plus in the photos? I'm almost changing my mind about that colour, looks really vibrant.

What were you listening to?! I could hear it fine and I was on the other side of the car... Not as loud as yours, but then we were all put to shame by that F40. 'Mouse-like'...pfft
I had a pretty good day overall having arrived before 7 and didn't leave til after 5. Was quite tired after, having been stood up for something like 10 hours running round after arriving/departing ferraris sticking ramps under wheels and directing 50-point turns. Seemed to go pretty smoothly overall. I'll have to think whether I want to do that again next year though as it was quite hard work.

I got to say you had an unenviable task James of parking all those cars up! Good job though. And I was jesting about the noise of yours
Some of those marshalls seemed to REALLY like the officiating though. In an almost sexual way

That was Richy's sprint blue plus. The paint was still wet from the paintshop, but yep, got a lot of admiring comments about the colour (mainly from females)

Just been trawling through the official photos and all the links to other photos of the day. Barely a single picture of the coops whatsoever. Only one coop amongst the hundreds I saw. And it was mine
Disappointing, it's like the organisers are in denial?
