? It doesn't back fire when changing down - thats correct, it will have a fuel cut on the over run.

Mine makes some satisfying pops on the downshift with the aid of a well timed 'blip' on the throttle. :D

The pre-described popping and banging noises are usually the result of an engine severely over-fueling.

I've got a baileys atmospheric dump valve in the for sale section, no pops and bangs but plenty of 'whooptish' and such.

Not strictly true. It's just unburnt fuel that's igniting in the exhaust system, which usually indicates overfuelling, but most setups can induce this on coasting with a blip of the throttle. The fuel doesn't get used And pop pop pop in the exhaust.

As for the original posters question - Either your car is really efficient or not enough heat in the exhaust.

Ross

True enough Ross, i did say usually... smile

R0cketR0n,

I guess with a decatted exhaust there's not as much damage to be done. warm the exhaust thoroughly, rev on the downshift and pop away...

this 'pop pop pop' sound when changin down? do you mean after youve changed down and your gliding along not using the throttle? if so,then like has said before its down to over fuelling. My rst did it when i first bought it. after having a set up at MSD and new plugs it was good as new.

If you want the POP/BANG noise, try revvin it, turn ignition off then back on and it will 'POP' lol well at least it did in my nova laugh laugh
