If you're looking for 200+bhp, sell and buy a turbo. Sorry but unless you're prepared to pay for serious (read expensive) engine tuning, a turbo's your only cost effective option imo. However, if all you're looking for is a slight (@ 10bhp) increase, then a catback sports exhaust and induction kit may give you that. What it will do is make the car sound a lot more purposeful, which a lot of owners are happy with. With the ever increasing petrol costs, selling a N/A should be easier than selling a turbo. Conversely, you can now pick up a decent turbo for silly money in comparison. As they say, the choice is entirely yours. EDIT: Sorry, just noticed your Post Count; welcome to the Forum and I hope your first reply doesn't seem too harsh.

Mario. Best advice buy a Turbo.I recently bought a non turbo 20v, and although have something a bit racier. I suggest that you revel in the characteristics your 20v HAS got: Style, is anything wheeling on the road remotely like yours? (no!) Not even the odd Alfa; That 4500 rev Bellow( get the sports exhaust `blow` the 10 extra..)Get the satisfaction and throw the hifi. You have something that reflects you for this moment in time Don`t squander it... just because a Vauxhall, or a BMW hammers past you.Thats not what it`s about.

Don't buy a 25bhp chip from ebay BTW, usually they are just a resistor, and they are a con. No chip is going to give you 25bhp on a non turbo, at least on its own.
Do as the others suggest, fit a decat, and louder exhaust and enjoy the sound of that engine.

Barbz from trouqitalia suggested the following:
1, Free flow air fiter 2, Race Katalyser with full 63mm exhaust from headers back. 3. C&B fast roaf camshafts 4, TI performance head. 5. ECU Remap.
what does everyone think? cost? Mario

1, Free flow air fiter - £5 - 5bhp (at best) 2, Race Katalyser with full 63mm exhaust from headers back. - £500 - 5-10bhp 3. C&B fast road camshafts - £600 - 10bhp 4, TI performance head. - £1,000 - 10-20bhp 5. ECU Remap. - £500+ - 10bhp
I'm being REALLY generous with my bhp estimates, so with a bit of luck, you might be able to add 35bhp and it will cost you about £2,500+
As has been said, trying to get more power from a non-turbo is a waste of money.
If you really want it to go quicker, sort the suspension and brakes - every 5mph extra round a corner is 5mph more down the straights.
Otherwise, I would recomment that you leave the car exactly as it is - if you want to go faster, buy a turbo - its the only realistic way.

Costs:
1 = £50+ 2 = Full exhaust £300+ 3 = £500+ 4 = £1k+ 5 = £400+
Not including fitting, that would probably get you around 200bhp, but cost in excess of £2k. I'd just buy a turbo

doesnt seem like its worth it, i think im going to concentrate on keeping mine as a good example of what a standard factory build coupe should be like.

I would not use one of Barbz head for NA, but feel free to do so if you like. Go for the cams for sure, you would need a proper remap to ensure the best, also vernier pullies to time it up correctly but if it has VIS system I dont know what happens with that.
Decent gains NA are hard won, but done properly it can work out ok, but to keep chasing more power becomes more expensive with less return. Dont let that stop you, this is a mainly turbo forum becuase of the marque it represents, but look to other cars (opel XE, Rover K series, Ford Duratec ) then NA tuning is still mainstream. But as Nigel said improving it handling will make up for power loss esp on track.

I have just checked and they're both fine. Fiat Coupe Club UK. No mention of 'Obrut only'. Elitism within the same marque is not good methinks but this isn't exactly new ground.

I don't even understand what this post is getting at. Fiat sold more turbo cars then NA, no question which is more popular, thus more catered for.

In an attempt to get back on topic; Mario - it sounds as if you have a very nice, original example of the coop - any pics btw? When coop prices begin to rise in the next couple of years (which they will), yours will be the spec most collectors will probably be looking for. It's obvious you feel passionately for your car (don't we all ), so unless you want to go stupidly quick rather than just quick, enjoy the car for what it is; quick, stylish and for the money, there's nothing else like it out there. If you want to improve / tweak it, then the basics of exhaust / induction etc will make it sound better than it does already. After that, do what Nigel and others have suggested; uprated brakes / suspension.

Goin` off piste......... And Rob... is it me? or do I sense that you may have inadvertantly punctured the tyre of this issue. I do detect an undercurrent of call it `Turbo superiority`..I`m smearing grease on my unshaven face as I write. Mario...Get a Turbo..quickly as possible. It matters little about obsession, style, brio, and a nice little engine that no self respecting Suzuki....( :s) driver would be proud of. Your Italian bit of rubber/ material/ and metal should really have a Turbo...really. Is it possible to fit a vw Turbo..to a 20v Coupe for under Eleven pounds, five shillings and Sixpence? :s. Hey maybe just calm down, if there's a 16v advocate it's me, yet to see anyone else who has given it as much of a chance as myself. But, in terms of advising others who aren't building for a dedicated reason then it serves a purpose to advise on the best route to take; as most people are looking with a certain budget in mind not compatible to the number they may expect. rich

Good Morning All, Im wondering if anyone can help me. I have a Fiat Coupe 20v Non Turbo. I was wondering if anyone could give me some assistance with any possible tuning modifications i can make to it. Appart from an inductionkit and a cheap nasty 25+ chip of ebay. Ive spoken to some garagaes and they have told me to sell the car and purchase a turbo. Well im sure many of you are as attached to your cars as i am, and this is not a viable solution. I brought the car some time ago and have restored the bodywork and engine to its factory build. It looks fab now! Ive fallen in love with the car and would be devistated if i had to sell it.
What are my options?
Thankyou for your time
Mario Welcome Mario (extends withered claw). 'Tis a gud Scotch name you've got there. Just add a 'K+N' cone for that addictive rasp (Darth Vader on speed). Some nice 17"'s on 215/40 rubber (appears lowered, gearing is unchanged). Piccy.piccy piccy.

Hello Guys,
Thanks for all you advise. Ive ordered a K&N and im looking in2 some wheels. I quite like the wheels from the turbo LTd Edition. These ones (http://www.fiat-coupe.fsnet.co.uk/le/red/le_0111a.jpg) proving to be hard to find. Will keep an eye out on the old ebay. The car is in the garage this week gettiing a full respray now that the body work is all ready. Once i get it back i will post up some fotos.
Cheers!

Cheers! Hi and welcome to the forum If you are indeed to go down the 'factory original' route then, to me, adding 20vt LE wheels is a big no-no. It would be misleading and not inkeeping with what you are trying to do. If it was me I would refurb your current ones, I think there's a lot to be said for originality in what is to become a future classic (after all, bar the interior, the wheels were the only input by pininfarina, why not use them i say!). After my very pleasant rolling road results recently I've decided any investment in my LE bar essential mechanical costs and maybe component replacement (keeping the performance standard and not tuned in other words!) will purely be cosmentic and to keep the car in as original a condition as possible.
