I can't view shebay from work, but a few years back there was a metal undertray available from demontweeks (someone bought it cheap) and you needed to weld some mount points to the bottom of the car. Not that many people liked the idea. It was pretty heavy too - more suited to offroad driving conditions that blatting down the road.
The standard undertray is more that sturdy enough too - and its not plastic, its some form of composite material. Every tried cutting into one? It hard!

Thinking about it I also remember that they hardly sold any and the chap who bought it got it from the 'reduced' parts bin.

i can see that as a use full as a sump guard as well! I doubt it, doesn't look very thick at all. a few years back there was a metal undertray available from demontweeks (someone bought it cheap) and you needed to weld some mount points to the bottom of the car. That was Highwayman and it was a sump guard, was quite thick and weighed a good 15 - 20kgs and you were right, it needed some welding to the subframe to make it fit
Your car is Usain Bolt with wellies

It's not a terrible idea, although my plastic one did a good job of withstanding the kamikaze fox I hit last week at about 50mph.

Yep - we are like a double act Begbie!
That one is totally different and looks like a flat sheet of steel. Pic also doesn't look much like a coupe (its an N/A anway), but the front bumper looks odd too.
Second thing is the standard undertray isn't just flat, PLUS it has a vent just behind the front lip for the radiator venting.
I'd save my money.

PROVIDES GREATER GROUND CLEARANCE ???The undertray is never a problem with ground clearance. My exhaust downpipe is the lowest point (where is goes under the block).

It doesn't say which coupe they are doing it for either, 20 or 16 valve or both?
Personally I don't see the point, particularly as the original has an airdam moulding inside to guide airflow through the radiator better.

Agreed!! Mind you, I left my undertray at JBTs for 6 weeks and never noticed!! as a side note... I know a lot of people dont bother with them, however i do think they were put there for a reason. They protect the underside of the car from most crap on the roads and offer greater protection to the already vulnerable belts

I don't know if it's the same with 20v/vt cars, but when I did not have an undertray for mine I had to fabricate a pair of brackets to hold the rear bottom edges of the bumper rigid. At least with the 16VT version you dont have to remove the undertray for easy access to change the oil and filter.

You dont have to remove it for the 20vt however the little door in the middle usually siezes up (old bolts) so you end up removing the whole tray. Also what you say about holding the bumper rigid is true... However probably doesnt make that much of a visible difference only structural

Looks a bit err un-sexy, you never know who is going to be looking under your car! Imagine you had an accident and ended up on your roof... a little like not putting on clean undies that day
