afternoon all.

how can you tell if a 20vt already has a g tec 1 chip because my car pulls like a train and everyone thinks its not standard. is there any numbers on the chip in the ecu that i should be looking for?

put a boost guage on it and if it holds sustained boost of 1.2bar then it is likely chipped, standard car might briefly overboost to 1.2bar but should then settle to 1.0bar

Also the boost is limited in 1st and 2nd on the stnd chip.

Putting it into 2nd on a dry road, shouldn't spin the wheels when you floor it.

On the GTEC1 it *may* spin.

Not very scientific I know.

If you fit a boost gauge and you find you're boost is pulsing up to 1.5bar then it's likely gtec'd too it's just your standard ebv can't regulate the boost anymore.

If the chip in the ECU has a square, white sticker with some numbers on it then it's a standard chip.

If it doesn't have the sticker then it may still be standard, but if the chip manufacturer is "ST", "Atmel" or "Amic" then it may be a Gtec supplied by me.
