cheers,
any one know is that possible or not??
Alfa GTV had a very good designed rear suspension, better than coop poor design old suspension.
So, any one know is it possible to swap the whole rear suspension from GTV to Coop ??
Regards, Mostafa

I think it's a bolt in, bolt out job, but there would be other mods that need to be done. A different fuel tank will have to be used, an exhaust would have to be made up as i'm sure it would take a different route, maybe the spare wheel well would have to be cut out too, who knows

I would say that the front is much more problematic than the rear!
If I went to spent a large amount of cash on my suspension geometry I definitely would be changing the front first and rear last.

Has anyone ever fitted Alfa 156 style double wishbones to the front of a coupe?
I am sure that could be done too.

Saying that, it looks like the upper wishbone is part of the top mount ? clicky It is part of the top mount, the whole lot is cast alloy. I know the strut tops might need modifying, but I can't see it being any harder than fitting a GTV rear suspension to a coupe.

The GTV front suspension is nearly the same as the coupe, top mount plates and lower wishbones are the same but the struts and drop links are different as is the ARB, what there is of it that is as it's very small in diameter compared to a coupe. The rear however is a completely different construction and design because they have a double wishbone configuration, you'd have to modify the rear subframe to accommodate this setup or build a new rear beam picking up on the existing rear subframe mounts, as mentioned the fuel tank would have to be moved and to be honest after all this effort and work I wouldn't say you'd notice that much difference or any over the standard design at all. But however if you fitted the V6 engine into a coupe, well that would be worth the effort

The front suspension is okay. No need for mods. The rear suspension is another story, but if the mounts locations is different. i think it wont worth the effort unless you got a heavy engine like the V6. But if the GTV sub-frame mounts on the same points as Coop. then this would be a great advantage in matter of reducing understeering, even with excess loads. Regarding the fuel tank and the exhaust mods, it wont be that hard mods anyhow. Another question hereAny one used the "Electronically controlled damping" dampers from Dedra Integrale or Alfa 155 ?? and get benefits from Soft/Hard configuration ?? By checking wiring i found its very easy to adjust just by a switch and a relay any luck here? Thanks for your help, Cheers mates, mostafa

I think you would need to modify the floor to fit GTV rear suspension.
The suspension of the GTV takes up a lot of room where the seat and boot would be.

I used to have a 3 litre GTV. The lack or rear seat and boot space was a pain at times.
It really did handle though. Especially with the 17" wheels fitted.

I dont know quite why people get so upset about the coupe rear suspension, apart from radius arm failures a lot of modern performance cars use trailing arms, its simplicity is fine considering how front heavy the car is.

I'm fairly sure the E36 M3's had rear trailing arms too. I'm sure beast could confirm this. I thought it was just the compact version of the E36 that had trailing arms.

you make it sound so easy might be easier to just buy a gtv and turbo charge it.

You can get GTV that come with a turbo from Alfa. There just not sold here, but they come with a 2.0 V6 turbo, more than likely to get around emmisions

I dont think it depends on emissions? Italy have heavy taxes on engine volumes above 2l, hence the 2l turbo V6 instead of a big bore V6.
