Having owned this car 2 weeks now, a few nights back i was greeted with a continuous clicking sound from the engine bay, an interuption in dash electrics and failiure to start.

After you finish trying to start it i can hear 3 clicks (iirc) from the centre console.

When you lock it the light goes red, pauses then flashes regulary.
When you unlock it it goes amber, then when you get in and close the door green.

Anyone know what the hell could be causing this?! Its driving me mad!!

Phill

this is normal when you get in the car after unlocking you have to start the car whilst the green light is showing, 60 seconds you have to do this or the alarm/ imobiliser will rearm itself. if you dont do it in time just press the unlock again on your key fob, tip ,if you do this with ignition lights on you wont activate the siren again. when you get out and lock the car it goes red untill lock with key fob then flashes red when armed.this is a visual deterent.the clicking you mention maybe solenoids activating. hope this helps cool

Hmm thats reassuring. It may have something to do with that though i never usually mess around before starting, i usually jump straight in and start it.

Any idea what the orange light im getting could be?

The TOAD Ai606 is the most troublesome, annoying unreliable alarm system I have ever encountered in any vehicle, 2 of my Coupes have had them, my 1st Broomer had a Clifford Concept - never gave me a days trouble in any aspect

Any future car I purchase with TOAD installed, believe me it's coming straight out

That would be your own personal opinion,
as an auto engineer/electrician and an audio specialist etc since 1986 I have to say toad /sigma alarms ARE probably one of the most [if not the most] reliable and rock solid alarms out there, bmw, Bentley [to name but a few used them as factory standard a few years back,] you might find that the cars circuits/switches need servicing/replacing /or the quality of the installer could be below standard. Also alarms should be serviced every year or two.
