Preparation for the Scottish Italian Car Day 2010 at Hopetoun House is currently underway.

The meet in 2009 was a big success with the attendance of many Italian car / bike clubs i.e FCCUK (thanks guys!), Alfa Owners, Fiat Scotland, Fiat Forum, Abarth, Ferrari, Ducati, Moto Guzzi, and many more.

After discussions with last years crew, we have come to a conclusion that Hopetoun House would be the ideal venue again this year. Nothing came close in terms of grandeur, location, and space.

Plans for this year is to have a much bigger event with a greater volume of cars / bikes attending and trade stands.

Unlike 2009's 'meet', we are classifying 2010 as an 'Event' therefore requiring the necessary indemnity insurance which is currently being arranged.

Improvements to catering is also currently being looked at with the idea of having Italian themed food. Much better than last years over-priced bacon rolls!

To make 2010 a success, we need to make early preparations for this. I will need to get the word out to as many people as possible about this. In terms of publicity, we are looking at informing the relevant car mags and local dealers about the event. I need to contact Fiat dealers around Scotland about this. We would prefer to get in touch with smaller / family sized businesses but the only ones I can think of here is Reg Vardy and Arnold Clark? Any ideas for others? If you have contacts for publications as well that would be much appreciated.

In the middle of helping out restoring a Beta Spider, managed to find a VX engine and running gear for it so that will be joining us on the covoy, if the rest of you are ok with that?

Engine is now forged so should take a bit more stick. Its in the process of being mapped now and looking promising, will make for an entertaining drive up
