Right, with my current setup the turbo oil return line is now lower than what the std turbo would use in the block, so the only viable way of doing a return line is to tap into the sump, but i can't seem to find anything that will do.

I did find a pipe that you drill into the sump and you use a nut on the other side of the sump, in fact it's this, but i'm a bit loathed to pay nearly £25 for this, but also, the angle is wrong for my needs.

So does anyone know of something that i can use to get the oil return plumbed back into the sump?

What about using that pipe in the link but have it entering the sump at a 45 degree angle?

Possbily, but then again, £25 for a pipe like that? grr laugh If it entered at a 45 degree angle it would mean that the oil would accumulate in the pipe slightly, rather than going back into the sump, which if there was enough build up, would affect the turbo by creating a smoke machine!

Is there no chance of welding a boss onto the sump and connecting some nice shiney braided hoses at each end?

What is the outlet from the turbo?

There is that, but means removal of sump, then trying to find somewhere that could do it. Ideally i would want to do this myself. The current turbo outlet is this

i would go with the first idea mate.

i think i know a place in bedford that could do it for you mate!

its a simple bit of fit to do!

if you want to do it your self, i would get some good metal bits... and as always, if you need a hand, im happy to come help! also i can bring a bi*ch (Nick) to make tea and some one to scratch your back and look interesting & confusied at the same time (Mario)

If you find someone who's good at welding they'd be able to weld a boss in situ as long as the oils drained, but if this was mine I'd remove the sump or go for that fitting idea.

When you get it welded make sure that thay pre-heat the sump as not to crack it. Reading the above if you move the drain lower the oil will flow into (below the oil level line level) and create more back preasure??? but if it is above the level it will drane into (an above oil level) open void. Any feadback? jules

The 16vt sumps are made of steel so it won't need pre-heating.

Yep that's right, if the oil return is below the oil level or has to go uphill, the oil doesn't drain from the turbo and pisses out of the oil seals! If it's not possible to have the oil return in the right place then a scavenge pump can be use to pump the oil from the turbo back to the sump.

Sizes, err.. i guessed, but guessed correctly as the woman on the other end of the line confirmed. I basically looked at the hose as they have the ID of it listed, worked out which JIC it was and got everything else in the same JIC, which was -10 (ID of 15.87mm). Link to hose ID and conversion chart
