Hi, how much interest is there in a resurection of the annual lakes meet?
I'm sure a few older members will remember these? 30 odd coupes meet up for lunch and a cruise/blast around the lakes in a convoy (ish) then an overnight stay if willing.
I have spoken to a few owners who would like to see this again?

Comments welcome?

Dave

Is it this one Dave?

(19th June)

Unfortunately for some of us porridge-gobblers we'll be away on a North of Scotland jamboree of our own cool

You're more than welcome if you can get "time off" !

The old lakes meets are what got me so into coupes, back when the meets were just as much about the drive as they were the members and the cars! hands down the best meets I've ever attended, even if I was 4ft tall, spotty and strapped in the passenger seat laugh

I'd love to see this old meet revived, some good old pub grub, great company and some epic roads.

Make it happen yes

It doesn't have to be that specific date, does it? I'm sure we could work something out to suit the majority? The bigger the turn out the better thumb

Not involved in that gathering. This can be any time this summer and coupes only.
we used to meet at the sportsman inn troutbeck(good good big carpark)have lunch and a chat. Then a tour through the lakes to a hotel for another look around the cars. beer and stay over if inclined. And could include a stop at the fantastic Lakeland motor museum?

Sorry Dave, just catching up with myself!

I'd not be able to fit it in for a while - North Scotland in June, son's wedding July then holiday, Fringe gig in August to practice for on return....

The idea sounds great though as it's a fantastic part of the world especially when one's got guides that know the terrain smile

I'd love to go and have fun like we used to, but unfortunately, the car is more knackered than it used to be and money is more of an issue than it used to be frown

Those meets were great but there were many more owners back then. Sadly people today don't seem to show up for shows or meets in the same numbers.

I confess that I too have been a bit guilty of this. In the last few years I've attended just Brooklands and a couple of local meets in the UK. My limited mileage has been used to attend events overseas.

I had considered putting together a UK tour this year but the interest and attendance at local meets made me re-consider if it was worth investing time and money in such an idea frown

The big lakes meets were one of the highlights of the year back in the day. We have some bloody great memories and would happily re-attend subject to dates.. and being allowed in without a Coop!
