The amazing Rick at Solo Italia made a tail pipe today for my VIS, and welded it on. Thus saving me hundreds of pounds another garage would have charged for a new back box etc. What a dude! It's a fantastic run out to his new place, through lovely countryside on the edge of the Cotswolds, AND I saw an amazing sight - a Galaxy aircraft flying out of Brize Norton! So I have had a great day, and The Coup is ready for Brooklands, just need to give her a good clean and polish.

Sounds like great service from the specialist! In another life I used to work at Brize on major serving of VC10 and Tristars, used to do turn around servicing on the big US Starlifters on a regular basis- sometimes they would drop of tanks, helicopters and even other planes out of the cargo body

It may have been a C17 Globemaster Annie, Brize is the home of the UKs C17 fleet, I spent many happy years flying on those.

I do miss Oxfordshire in the summer.

Can't sing Ricks praises enough, I work at Brize, so am very fortunate to have him and the solo italia guys on my doorstep.

Whatever it was, it was huge, like the Deathstar!

My Dad was an RAF technician during WW2. He worked on Lancaster bombers mostly.

My cousin was a PT instructor in the RAF and based at Brize Norton. His name is Percy Duncan. Perhaps you knew him?

Can't say I do am afraid- but I did get to do some work on the City of Lincoln Lancaster when it came in for a major in the early 1990's

Wow that's so cool, I am about to read a book about the Lancaster, a beautiful old bird. My Dad said that if a pilot had a bad feeling about the mission, he would lick the end of the headphones plug and plug it in, rendering the radio useless and grounding the plane.
