As some may remember a few Sundays ago Brian's Coupé lost its coolant on the M40 and he was left stranded at a hotel in Stratford with a possible diagnosis of fried engine because it wouldn't start when cold and all caused at the time by a CHOD failure.
I bought the car for £100.00, Brian had enough which is understandable, I organised transport and on arrival I quickly diagnoses the starting issue allowing me to drive Brian's Coupé into my workshop and onto my ramp for an inspection, a burst radiator was the problem and not the CHOD as first thought.

So moving on I now have a working 20vt which has good compression as all cylinders are 150psi with a nearly new rebuilt standard turbo by CR engineering, the MOT has run out so I've had a test carried out, which has failed and it now leaves me with a Fiat Coupé that I just can't keep here at work because I've no room, I'm too busy to repair it at this time and I don't want to have to put it in dry storage as I have enough already and it'll just be adding to the monthly over head, so instead of recycling it's good parts and seeing another go to Coupé heaven I'd like to offer this up for sale as a project to someone, I'd need to cover my costs, purchase price, transport and an MOT and then I'd like to pass on the remaining funds to the care organisation that looks after Brian's Brother.

This Coupe is no oil painting, it's tired with lacquer peel but it does drive really well, stops and is in my opinion too good for spares, it needs someone who'll put the time in to resolve the corrosion and tinker through the list of fails which aren't massively bad to be honest, manifold is cracked, blowing, one area flagged for corrosion and the rest are age related items that are worn out.

I need to cover £200.00, I'd like £700.00 as I believe it's worth that all day long even in it's present condition, transport can be arrange with Mark who would charge £1/mile.

Good work, Joe. I shall miss my car.

One extra item - The car is only about 20-something k miles into its third timing belt, which is in super condition. The car's performance and smooth running have always been beyond reproach. A fabulous engine. It has many more miles left in it.

If I had been younger, and had more time to devote to it, I would have willingly taken on what, as Joe says, is a very worthhile project.

let's hope there is someone out there willing to take this on. With Coupe numbers declining, the project cars and their owners are becoming an important part of keeping the car on our roads.

Surely coupes at this price, even for projects will be getting thin on the ground. Is it rusty in all the usual places?

Yes, I agree.

Just to keep things in perspective, my car passed its previous MOT without any major problems. Of course it's getting a bit rusty, but it didn't have major rust issues. It is also an extremely fine runner.

As you say, for £700 it's an absolute steal.

Upton upon Severn to be exact.

Home to Upton jazz fest and the Blues fest.

Usually on TV when we have lots of rain and it floods.

Not Joes place, but my sisters workplace, Countrywide.

Testing is very important, just passed 2500 miles so I'm on route home and can confirm this gearbox is good thumb

I am, frankly, stunned that my car is still languishing in Joe's pound. It only had a burst radiator, and at the time I was a bit cheesed off because I needed to be somewhere. It's basically a good car. The engine is still good, almost new turbo, almost new tyres, reconditioned brembos, unmodified original. The MOT problems are not major.

I made a snap decision to get rid of it when I found myself stranded in Stratford, but don't take that as a good indication. I'm still missing it. The car is a goodun. driving

It's still in dry storage costing me £5/wk, it's perfect for a restoration project which is why it's not been dismantled for recycling, it'll live again even if I end up restoring this myself one day.

701 reasons why not - no space on the driveway, too many projects as it is.
Love the colour though, love it
