Relived my youth yesterday night by going to see the Damned on their 40th Anniversary tour. Last time I saw them was in 1986 but they have still got it- just got to wait for the ringing to stop in my ears so I can hear properly again!

Bog standard needn't be boring...

Only saw them play a few songs live once, at a festival where I'd gone to see the Dead Kennedys.

I liked the documentary they did a few years back, "Don't you wish that we were dead", that's worth a watch even if you're not a big fan.

Oh, and...

DK's were one of my favourites bands but there was something about the British stuff that resonated with me, especially so when the second wave came in with groups like Exploited, GBH etc..

cool

Never saw The Damned but saw The Clash and The Ruts back in the day. It's great to see my kids faces when they see archive footage of these bands and know that "boring old dad" went to see them in his yoof. I know it sounds a bit lame but in a funny way I feel privileged that I was around in such an explosive and urgent time in British music the likes of which I doubt we'll see again frown Do fancy going to see SLF at some point if they tour again..

SLF are touring at present- I am going to see them at Rock City in Nottingham on 14th March. Also going to see the Skids with Spear of Destiny in Bedford in May. I have given up hope with my kids, my 10 year old likes alternative and indie but my other two like rap (with a silent C in my opinion) which drives me mental. Then I remember how offended my old man was by SLF and how that just made me want to play it louder and longer...
