Is it just me or does the coupe have a really bad turning circle?

I can't even do a U turn on a mini roundabout without doing a 3 point turn \:mad\: \:mad\: \:mad\:

People must think I am a bad driver!

Correct, it's awful. Wait until you try getting in or out of a town centre car park and get someone mouthing "it would help if you use full lock numpty!" at you whilst attempting a 24 point turn. \:D

By the way is it the same on all the Coupes? Or just the 20V models, only reason I ask is, that the 306 GTi6 had a bad turning circle due to the extra cog in the gearbox. Maybe the 20V is bad because of the extra cylinder? (Assuming its different on the 16v and 20v)

Cheers

Ben

Yours must be one of the rare few then \:D Mine *just* holds the car on my (admittedly steep) driveway, don't think it would be up to doing any handbrake turns!

16v has a better turning circle; it's because the 20vt has the fat brake discs and a shorter steering rack as a result.

The 6 speed versions are the worst, but I can't say it bothers me that much. Just a matter of getting used to it \:D

Its because the 20vT nicked the steering rack from the Alfa GTV. I thought only the 20vT had it so the other coops should be better.

You have to be at a coop meet in a pub carpark to really appreciate how poor the steering lock is. Each car comes in, brakes squealing like mad then performs the 24 point turn \:D

F****** b****** thing...

I'm sure that my 20V n/a used to just to say be able to do a 3 point turn in my street. My turbo is 5 point turn every time.

We currently have 1 GTV and my coupe 20vt in the family, previously had another gtv and a 20v n/a. Both GTVs and my 20vt have had horrendous steering locks, the 20v n/a was a load better. The GTV is a touch better i think, although the tracking might be slightly out on one of them or something pathetic, plus i'm on totally different siza tyres.

The Coop HAS a turning circle?! \:o There's me thinking you had to circumnavigate the globe to turn round.

It's fun racing a fat mum parking at Tesco's. Can you make a 24 point turn before she can reverse out of a space in 1? It's a toughie! Aaahh, the endless scope for any kind of 'race'. ;\)

I`ve read an article about Coupe and GTV and there was written that it was made specially to make coupe behave different from GTV. GTV - bendy roads and tracks, Coupe - straight roads and autobahns.

But you have the gay one right? Twin spark not V6?

Anyway I think the coupes turning circle is 12m right? (metres, feels like miles though).

Yes its because of the 2.2 turn lock to lock rack.

I think that may be the only amusing thing WF has ever said \:D

My 20v n/a is cr*p too, have to drive cautiously in my work carpark to avoid the cars parked in the spaces on the other side \:o

Parkers says 10 meters for all 20V variants. Then again I don't believe half the data published by Parkers.

What the 20VT needs is some drop down hydraulic jacks (like the BTCC cars have) but with coasters on the end, you can pull up, drop the coasters, spin it round by hand, retract them and off you go \:D

You could get by if the Coop had a decent handbrake, but it hasn't even got that!

Anyone remember that scene from one of the austin powers films where he's trying to turn that truck round in the tunnel?
