Many thanks. Is there any chance of having the pages scanned in a higher resolution?

The second article is near impossible to read which is a real shame.

You can 'save picture as' and then magnify using a picture viewer to read it. I can't see the links I posted at work but I can view my own copies by zooming in on them i n this fashion \:\)

It is a good read though. One of the many autocar reviews that persuaded me to buy the coop

I have a few more, mainly mentions of it in later 'performance bargain' articles but I have an old roadtest yearbook with a great mention of the coop in the Audi TT entry \:D I'll get that one up soon.

Yes, the second article needs to be scanned at a higher resolution if possible. Any other articles gratefully lapped up.

Are the 50-70mph times in the last article correct? The Fiat manages 6.2 seconds compared to the 9.4 and 9.8 for the Mistubishi and Nissan, which seems phenomenally quicker?

Actually just spotted the torque figures, the Coupe produces more torque than the other two at much lower RPM. However, surely peak torque on the 20VT isn't at 2500RPM? Mines only just starting to spool up around then (stock turbo), but it's pulling like a train by about 3000RPM.

Nice one.

Page 2 of the 'Best Buy' reminded me why I used to watch Tiff Needell on TV and think "Fist Magnet".

I've often thought this too. I don't think I've ever seen a 20vT make peak torque at 2,500rpm. In fact my car running a GTiR @ 1.35bar makes only 168.6lbs/ft at 2,500rpms. 228 sounds a little optimistic but that test car ust have to put in that stonking 6.2s. The other two can't be compared here though to be fair. The FTO is a rev monster like a vtec and the 200 engine is a much revvier engine to ours.

My car still doesn't do the 50-70mph in top in 6.2 secs.

Would it be possible for Fiat to have supplied Autocar with a fettled up model for their road test. Best 50-70 time in fifth gear I can manage in my bog std 20VT is around 7.0 seconds, 6.8 on a slight downhill incline. Rev limiter deffo higher on the test car because it was set to 7000rpm. Std cars apparently limited to 6800rpm confused

Agree with Trappy. I don't see how peak Torque on a STd 20VT can be anything lower than somewhere between 3 and 3.5k revs based on driving experience.
