I'm not too sure if im posting this in the right section but i was just wondering what part of the steering/suspension makes the coupe so terrible/hilarious at turning during full lock/embarassing car park turns/3 point turns etc? lol, any info would be great, anyway to improve it or is it just another funny coop quirk ? \:D

I'll be back smile

Something to do with the 5 pot engine being too big and stuff I think.

4 pots have a better Turning circle and the engine takes up less room for the steering rack

Thats what I've heard anyway

I'm pretty sure the steering rack was borrowed from the GTV (definitely an Alfa anyway) and I'd think the reason would be something to do with that car. It's certainly nothing to do with the engine in the coop, unless that's the only one that would fit? I guess in that case that is the reason

On an airstrip yes, everywhere else it's just a turning triangle

But even a "turning triangle" implies you can do three point turns, which you can't. I would say it has turning "potential" or "scope" but not much more.

The Alfa GTV rack was to give a quick response, 2.2 turns from one pathetic lock to the other pathetic lock. Last thing you want with the "turning potential" is to take forever to get from one side to the other...

Potential! Yes that is it...

I have got used to it now, though it can still be a little bit of a pain.

It's really only parallel parking that suffers in my experience. You always look like a complete tit when you've only got a few feet infront and behind you to shunt back and forth... That and mini roundabouts of course

Well, my 106 is just as bad, seriously! I even thought that some dodgy rack had been retro-fitted to my rallye, but no, they're all like that.

Coopless!

I hate my turning circle! It makes parking in St Marys carpark in colchester (officially the smallest carparking spaces in britain) a real pain in the backside.

Let me know when someone invents a mod that will let you turn properly
