Hi everyone about two years ago now I recommended an ebayer for cheap hids unfortunately all the links pertaining to them have long since expired and my old pair went when I sold my last car so does anyone have any recommendations for me?

I just got some from HIDS4U, dont know what they're like yet but if they are half as good as the service then well worth it.

Ordered Wednesday morning...... delivered 1pm Thursday!

look really good quality, not cheap but if you use the discount code STRATHY you get 25% off wink

Just under £90 for 55w delivered.

They do compact ballast ones now Phil. Much better than the chunky monkeys I had fitted in 2006!

Don't forget the postage costs mate bumps it up to 37 quid but still that's better than 90 I think they still do the 35w kit which'l be even cheaper!!

I paid 32 quid for a 35w kit which is on the Missus coup and I have the 50w an tbh not much difference but then again it's through the standard wiring

also remember guys you get what you pay for so personaly i would buy uk as iv fitted alot of hid's and iv found a few time the balists dont work or the bulbs them self are not 5000k but 4000k and the light is like a piss yellow colour and the customer in the end had to buy an extra 6000k bulbs to get round this at a cost of £30

you need comebacks if anything goes wrong

As said I've brought several kits from the same company I've suggested in that link been running 1 set for 3 years now and all the other sets 4 in total have all been sold on with the cars I've brought and sold

IMO you do get what you pay for and at a third of the price you've got 3 tries if something goes wrong

I'm very happy hence why I put the link up never had the wrong colour and nothings given up so far

I'm running the 600k kit and it's a nice crisp White with a slight and I mean slight tinge of blue the wifes running 8000k but they're very blue I also have 4300k bulbs which I use for winter as they're euro yellow like what the old Renault 5's used to have

Choice is yours though

Those ballasts look rather big. Can you fit them under the bonnet confused

Fredan,
My ones should be here soon.
I will post up picks when I fit them.
I have a non AC coupe so should be no problem fitting them to the sides.

My thoughts exactly Matt - I paid more than that for 35w secondhand ones a couple of years ago. shocked

Ballasts are looking quite tarnished now so may replace them at that price. cool

I think to some extent you get what you pay for.

interesting though, I haven't yet found a comparison/review of cheap HIDs (£20/£25) vs expensive HIDs (£80-£100).

Only feedback I have is that my ancient £200+ set of H1 HID's on my Coupe are still working fine after gawd knows how long (occasionally the offside will fail to fire up, and the nearside has a bit of a yellowish tinge at the edges, but they are 4300K) but one of the ballasts on my £65 H7 HID's has packed up after a year, dunno about £20 though...

They seem fine to me.
Soon see when I get them fitted but my first impression is.....how the hell can they make them this cheap ?
The brackets are pants but that won't take long to modify.

they certainly don't look cheap just looking at the ballasts and cabling.

What's the general consensus on the 55w HID's? I have my eye on this type:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/55W-SLIM-XENON-HID...2#ht_5244wt_911

Can pick them up for £35 delivered, the ballasts are tiny. Not sure if 55w will be okay though?
