Eibach doesn't make 2 types of springs for the coop. Only the "Pro-Kit"

I think the 16VT sits slightly lower at the front than the others as standard, maybe the springs take this into account. Just make sure you order the right one for your car and you should be ok.

The only eibach set available for the 20vt coop is the Pro-Kit. Reference E3014-20.

You can confirm this on the eibach site. Unless of course that you want to go to 16vt front springs. But that's another issue.

I think I can clear this one up.

There are two different types of spring for the fiat coupe and both will fit the 20vt and 16vt cars.

The earlier spring is a progressive wound spring instead of the later single rate spring, the earlier spring will make the car sit 10mm higher than the later spec spring.

I've had both springs and I prefered the earlier progressive spring for ride quality and handling but I chopped off the last coil to make the car sit at the same ride height as it would with the later springs.

Thanks Jimbo,

so the 16vt type does give a better ride ? witch one is stiffer ? I have now eibach on that come straight from fiat only those are now 8 years old and when I got them off last week (to fit bilsteins) there was quite bad wearing from the coils rubbing together so think I could use some new ones.

Thing is now with the bilsteins and the old spring I have the feeling that I would like to have some stiffer springs.

Any vieuws on this ?

I think fiat supplies the earlier 16vt springs but the easiest way to see what type you have is by looking at them.
The 16vt springs will sit in the car with the bottom 3 coils all touching each other.
The 20vt springs are slightly stiffer and the coils sit with equal distance between them.

Are these 16VT or 20VT? Or is there such a thing as 16V Eibachs? Seller doesn´t know except he says they should lower 25mm.

Eibachs lower 30mm. The 16v version also fits the 20v. The 16v version was officially sold as a Fiat accessory, the 20v never made the catalog. But to be honest, I don't know what they changed for the 20v.

edit: looked it up, 16v indeed seems to offer about 25mm drop and is slightly softer than the 20v.

Looked up some more... quote from a post by Jimbo:

Quote:
The 20vt spring lowered my coupe 10mm more than the 16vt spring.
The 16vt spring is progressive wound and made of a slightly thinner gauge wire, its the bottom 3 coils that are wound tighter and then space out for the upper 2 coils but the upper 2 coils are spaced out further than the 20vt springs (its hard to describe without pictures).
I found the bottom 3 coils sat coilbound with weight on the car so I chopped one of the coils off to give the same ride height as the 20vt springs (the coils are 10mm thick) and I was happy with th result, the ride wasn't as harsh as the 20vt springs.

I got Eibach to make me a set of 2 front springs because all rears are identical on the coupe, IIRC it was about £70 for the 2 fronts.

My testing was done driving to London from Barnsley and back on 16vt springs then fitted the 20vt's and did the jorney again the next day (all in the name of science smile ).

If someone orders the springs they can do a more up to date test and maybe use another coupe with the 20vt Eibachs on so we can test them back to back.

Here we go, I found some picture for description purposes;

Eibach 16vt Spring type

Thanks! Seems like the ones I am considering are the 20VT then...
