it's a thought...can it be done?

i was thinking in the lines of just attaching a temp sensor to the clock and the required electronical parts, swap the red light below with a illuminated red button, same size, maybe LED and when it is pressed...hey presto: the outside temp is displayed. Like 25 C. Meaning there are 25 C outside.

Edit: so i'm giving up on this idea to modify my actual clock and thinking of replacing the whole thing with a LCD display that i can program to display what i want it do display: clock, ext temp, internal temp,engine temp and some other stuff.

This if i can find the right coloured display
